Perfect!
First visit to Tuscany Chianti region, could not of chose a better place to stay! Beautiful villa and excellent hosts, so peaceful and relaxing in stunning surroundings olive trees, vine yards and the Tuscan sunshine! Villa was exactly as described “romantic villa for two” which exceeded expectations we feel very lucky to have stayed at the Villa. Property is half an hour from Sienna, 50 minutes to Florence both easy beautiful drives, and within easy reach of other local villages 10 minutes drive. Wine tasting was an added bonus hosted by Barbara who was excellent and very passionate about the local Chianti wines, it is a must to do. It was lovely to talk to Lorenzo and Jennifer and hear all about the beautiful vineyard and families history in wine making. Also all correspondence with Anna prior to holiday was really helpful! Thank you very much for a lovely holiday we would love to come back! Sami and Steve

So beautiful!
Podere Ciona winery and the smaller house in which we stayed are beautiful! A tad remote but worth the calm tranquility and vistas. You may need a sturdier vehicle to access the final roads to Il Diaccino. The hosts, particularly Barbara, were kind, professional and helpful. She made excellent suggestions for restaurants. Lorenzo, Jennifer and Franco were also friendly and willing to help at awkward hours! The town of Gaiole in Chianti (12 mins away) has a wonderful restaurant with friendly staff (Sfizia). We were regulars. There is a lovely former monastery and fine dining restaurant with outstanding views, located across the road and 1 km up the hill from our location. We went there for both lunch and dinner (outstanding terrace and restaurant views; elevated and tasteful food). Il Diaccino is a well kept, clean and beautiful country cottage. There were some bumps but they were quickly sorted (except for the laundry machine, which still perplexes us). The light and windows are gorgeous. The windows that opened had insect screens, for which we were eternally grateful. One observation: the view of the valley is less visible now that the vibrant olive trees (just outside the big front windows) have much grown. The light streaming into all areas of the house is still amazing. Overall, the property is splendid. Thank you, everyone, for your graciousness.

Italian countryside of your dreams!
This was a perfect stay in every way! First, the hosts, owners Lorenzo and Jennifer and their assistant extraordinaire, Barbara, are amazing....so nice and personable, quick to respond to any needs you have, making dinner reservations when requested, giving us a personal tour of the winery and vineyards which are incredibly beautiful, and a complimentary wine tasting of their most delicious wines!!! Second, the "small enchanted villa" is just that! Structurally, it was stunning, beautifully decorated in the tuscan style, lots of antique furnishings, well-stocked kitchen,(with a welcoming bottle of their Chianti wine!),very comfortable furniture and bed, modern bathrooms, and the most incredible view of the olive groves and vineyards! Third, the location is ideal for exploring the Chianti region and beyond. It's only 7 minutes drive to Gaiole where there is a grocery store, specialty shops, and many good restaurants, like Le Cose Buone, Osteria Al Ponte, and La Gorgia, to name a few. Our absolute favorite restaurant was Badia e Coltibuono, very close to the villa! There are many charming towns in the area including Greve, Radda, Castellina, San Gemignano, and Monteriggioni, that are an easy car ride away. Do not hesitate to book this villa...it checks all the boxes for a countryside dream vacation!

“La Dolce Vita”
My wife and I stayed for a week at Il Diaccino, a charming villa on the Podere Ciona estate. We had a delightful stay and the Gatteschi family were amazing hosts! The accommodations were outstanding. The cottage is situated on a hill overlooking olive trees and offers stunning vistas of the countryside. It was tastefully decorated and had a beautiful patio area to enjoy our morning coffee. Just a short walk away, through a wooded path was a spacious pool. It was an oasis to enjoy on a hot day after touring the beautiful villages surrounding our villa. Anna was a terrific resource for us! She was quick to respond to our inquiries and helped us with restaurant reservations. Lorenzo was a very gracious host. As we made our way to his parents home (to attend a cooking class with his mother & aunt), he took the time from his busy day to walk us through part of his vineyard and explained the harvesting process. It was fantastic! The cooking class with Franca and Mimma was the absolute highlight of our entire trip to Tuscany! We were warmly greeted by these two amazing sister chefs as if we were members of the family. The experience that we had was truly memorable. It was just the two of us in Franca’s kitchen getting a personal lesson by chefs that had traveled the world teaching Italian cuisine. We shared a lot of laughs and they treated us to a delicious five-course meal! We fell in love with Tuscany and our wonderful hosts! We can’t wait to visit again soon!

not a good idea after September as the owners say 'out of season'
To start with the positives, the property location is beautiful with a lovely view over olive groves. Tuscany is beautiful and we loved the area. Unfortunately the lows are the following and very unfortunate when you travel from Australia and you can only go by what is advertised and said. When we arrived it was as though we were completely unexpected with one of the hosts going to the phone stating "someone is here'. The older lady comes and says its the middle of harvest so no one to meet us. she lets us in the villa with her keys but immediately said we could not take the cover off the pool as 'out of season' when no one wants to swim. It is unseasonally hot in Italy and we only searched for villas with pools; so it was so dissappointing for a 7 day stay to not be able to use it at all when it was there next to the villa. We were told 'the brother would come to see us after harvest' which would have been fine but he did not come for another 24 hours. in the meantime we had no heating, no instruction if we could use the fire, no cover on the one and only doona and the 'double bed' is two single beds with two separate bed frames pushed together. The evenings are cold so we were cold too. When he arrived the next evening for the first time he brought some wood for the fire and another blanket. And that was it. We did not see our hosts or even get one restaurant recommedation for the rest of the trip. We left early and found new accomodation where we could swim and welcoming, friendly hosts.

Relaxed Rural Setting
We have traveled all through Italy previously and this time wanted to stay a week in one place. This is a wonderful place to do this! Very quiet and relaxingly peaceful. It was harvest time so saw grapes being collected and that was a first for us. The trees also were full of olives. We ventured out for part of most days to Radda, Siena etc. Owners were very pleasant and helpful!

Fabulous property, wonderful family owners, terrific winery. Couldn’t be better.
We’ve rented other properties in Chianti and Umbria, but this topped hopes and expectations. Very spacious accommodations with chairs and dishware for home-made feasts. Lovely towns like Gaiole, Radda, Greve, Panzano, and Castellina within 40 minutes drive on winding roads. Castles, abbys, and sculpture parks nearby. Siena about an hour, Montalcino and Pienza 1.5 hours drive. Trains from nearby Montevarchi mean Florence and Rome are approachable. But relaxing at the villa and enjoying a wine tasting and tour of the cellar is perfetto, too.

Fantastic and memorable stay
My wife and I stayed in Il Diaccino for 2 weeks in early September. We would first like to thank the Gatteschi family for being such gracious hosts. Thank you Anna for arranging the visit and our rental and pickup in Florence. Thank you Franca for your warm welcome and for providing some goodies until we could make it to the market. Thank you Lorenzo for all that you helped us with, wine tasting and wonderful and educational information about the complete production of all of your fantastic wines, for phone calls to local establishments on our behalf and being available any time if needed. As for the villa? Seems to us that the view from the villa might be the nicest in Tuscany. Combine the views, peacefulness and the surrounding olive grove and vineyard - it was really spectacular. Afternoon lunch of vegetables, meat and cheese from the Gaiole Coop along with Podere Ciona wines (which is the best we tried, and we had others) overlooking Tuscany with Siena in the distance - hard to describe the feeling. It was a great place from which to take day trips with easy visits to Radda, Greve, San Gimignano, and Siena. Trip or train up to Florence is quite easy as well. If this is the type of trip you are looking for, please do not hesitate - you will have a wonderful time. Should we decide to return to Tuscany - we wouldn't choose any other location. Paul and Doris

"Diaccino"
“Diaccino”…….a presto Giorgio

The property is off the beaten path but so is most of Chianti. The place is lovely and very functional. There isn't AC, but if you spent he windows in the morning and evening, it will cool down. The pool is also amazing and I found myself spending a lot of time just reading at the pool and enjoying the view. Franca was so sweet and her son was also very helpful. I can't wait to go back!

Paradise in Chianti
We had an amazing stay at Franca's property at Podere Ciona. The one bedroom villa was traditional Tuscany with white washed walls, beamed ceilings and terracotta floors and ceilings. The villa also had important modern convenieces, e.g., heated floors, big windows. modern appliances and window screens. Although we didn't use it, the property also had a large swimming pool. The views were among the most beautiful in all of Tuscany. We looked out over olive groves, wine vineyards, rolling hills with farm houses, castles and the city of Sienna in the far distance. Franca and family were wonderful hosts. The gave us all the space we wanted, but were available for help at any time. The cooking class and spending time at her home was a trip highlight for us among many highlights. In short, we would return to Podere Ciona in an instant. We were not ready to leave and hope to return again soon. Thank you, Franca!

Exceeded all of our expectations
My husband and I booked a week’s vacation at the 1-bedroom villa on the Pedore Ciona estate. In a word our experience was perfect. Franca, our host, was helpful and informative as we planned our trip. Her directions and advice for our arrival were perfect. She even booked our first night dinner reservations at an outstanding restaurant, Ristorante Badia a Coltibuono, just a short distance from the villa where we had a magnificent meal. The villa is beautiful with views that are breathtaking. There are olive trees and grape orchards for as far as the eye can see. It is furnished with lovely items and has a gorgeous pool and peaceful patio, both of which we enjoyed. This may seem minor, but the windows have screens to keep out the mosquitos and flies. A huge bonus! Franca was just a phone call away if we needed a suggestion (where should we have lunch in Siena?), a few bottles of the estate’s delicious wine, or a question about the villa. She provided maps, brochures and travel guides and then just let us be to enjoy the quiet setting and beautiful surroundings. The location of the villa, while remote, is excellent and we enjoyed day trips throughout the Chianti Region and beyond including Pienza, San Gimignano and Siena. It is a short 5km car ride to Gaiole for groceries, shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed an evening cooking class with Franca and friends which was a highlight of the trip. Since we were there during the harvest we also had a chance to see the wine production processes. Anyone looking for a villa in a picturesque setting that is lovingly cared for would be wise to book this one. It has all that’s needed for a fantastic vacation in Tuscany!

Incredible experience
Outstanding location and incredibly hospitable hosts. The villa commands spectacular views, is a perfect starting point for day trips and exudes warmth and charm. If you can, schedule a personal tasting of their wines; very informative with lots of attention to detail. The winery focuses on quality assurance at the "picking" stage and only gets better from there.

Italiensk luksus for to
