Couples Secluded Getaway

This is my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. It is very private and secluded. The views of the beach are beautiful. The pool is spectacular and gives you a great view of the wildlife. We rebooking again for the fall. The property manager was great and extremely responsive.

Great home

We enjoyed our stay here! The home was well-stocked and clean. The property manager was very responsive...even gave us advice on where to get a flat tire repaired! The house is a bit remote, so if you're looking to be close to restaurants this location may not be for you.

Family trip

Wonderful trip with the family. Rented both the house and guest house and had plenty of space for all of us. The grounds are amazing with all the landscaping and wildlife. Beach is right out the front door. Beds are comfy and we had everything we needed. Will be back in the near future.

Quiet beach, great retreat

Loved the location at the end of the road and very quiet. Nice house, not a lot of group living space, but still a good place to stay. Great waves on the beach! Barbara was kind enough to let us know when the baby turtles were being released and we were thrilled to see them crawl to the ocean! Thank you!

So Peaceful

Our stay was for 10days in December 2015. The house is in the perfect location for peace and tranquility. Right on the beach with very few people and right out the front door. Beds were comfy and had everything we needed. Pool was awesome! Surrounded in nature and able to unplug, just what we needed. Highly recommend!!

Tranquil and Amazing!!!

I have a busy life and I was looking for a destination to relax and recharge my batteries. From what I saw online, this home in Junquillal looked wonderful. When I arrived, it was even better than I imagined! The property, grounds, pool and beautiful beach were amazing! I didn't want to leave! Matter of fact, I'm coming back next year and staying longer!

Perfect escape!

The property and surrounding areas were beautiful. The house and the guest house were well-cared for, very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The property manager was in contact with us several days before we arrived and checked in periodically during our visit. We were thankful for her as ahe was so friendly and helpful! The trip to get back to the house was challenging as we had never navigated rural Costa Rican roads before and weren't quite prepared for what that involved. After the initial trip to the house, the area became easier to navigate as we came and went to visit restaturants and shop at the local market. It was beyond our expectations!

Not for seniors

The house was in good repair and very clean. Same with the pool, which was serviced twice while we were there. Chiara was extremely responsive. We are in our seventies and us the there were a few things that made it difficult for us. The pool had a very long downstep which we could not navigate and had to enter the pool by backing down the ladder. Inside the house, the spiral staircase was very difficult to navigate for older people, and in fact, was too tight to get our suitcase upstairs. We had to empty it downstairs and carry things up piecemeal. We were disappointed because we had a guest who was staying downstairs and his room was on one side of the kitchen And his bathroom was on the other side of the kitchen. Also, the only sitting area to watch TV or read in the house was upstairs in the master bedroom. The description of the house on VRBO should mention that it is very remote. However the beach was beautiful and very close to the house. Despite all of this we had a great time. We had a great time and will return. While we would not stay at this proper, we would consider other Eden Properties houses.

Great house on quiet beach

We loved our stay at Punta Paraiso! It felt like a mini-resort with the pool, beach access, and the estuary at the end of the road. The beds are comfortable and the house has many items to use such as pool floats, cooler, yoga mats, and beach towels. I didn't give it 5 stars because there are some odd features such as a new electrical, garage-style security door for the deck which looks like it should be outdoors and not in your bedroom. The kitchen is a little dark without a lot of natural light but was adequate. The gardens around the house could use some sprucing up and weeding when we visited. Overall, this is a gem of a location with a great setup if you're looking to escape the world. There are neighbors but it felt safe and friendly. If you surf, there is a very fast breaking beach break directly in front of the house and on bigger swells, a right-hand point down the beach. I rented a SUP and explored the estuary in the late afternoons. There are many tropical birds to see in there but you can also see them around the house, especially early in the morning. The pool is great and you could happily spend your days right there on the property. We would definitely return!

Slice of Paradise!

This was our second time staying on this stretch of beach in Playa Junquillal and first time at this house. We love the quiet and remote aspect. The beach is just perfect for walking and we never came across more than a handful of others the entire time we were there. We're only 10-15 min from several area amazing restaruants and also went into Playa Negra and Tamarindo. The house was perfect for us. We are a family of four with two kids ages 14 and 11. My sister came with us and having a separate casita for her was one of the things that drew us to this house over the other one we stayed at previously. The house was very clean and kitchen well stocked. Pool was maintained twice while we were there and was just incredible. Property management was very responsive and met us at check in and check out. She was also highly responsive to questions via whats app, although we didn't need much since we're very familiar with the area. The house is exactly as described and pictured. Yes, there isn't an actual living room in the main house, but I think that's quite common in an area where everyone congregates outside to enjoy nature. We spent most of our time in the pool and on the screened in porch. We loved the sounds of the monkeys and birds and made friends with 2 area dogs that were great company all week :) We would definitely return. This is one of our most favorite places to visit with friendly people, safe area, beautiful nature, excellent food and many things to do!

Great private beach house with pool!

We had a great stay at Punta Paraiso. The property is secluded and quiet yet close to plenty of restaurants to choose from. Highly recommend renting a car as we did. The house is located on a black sand beach which is beautiful albeit incredibly hot - we wore our water shoes down to the water front. The water was warm with some strong waves which isn’t great for swimming or relaxing in but is great for boogie boards and a quick cool down. The beach, when we were there, wasn’t really usable for lounging as the trade winds were pretty strong and you’d get pelted with sand. We did greatly enjoy the use of the pool with the covered seating area and pool deck. The house itself is a bit small with no real place for 4 adults to congregate together except on the 2nd floor in a bedroom (not very convenient). We created a seating area on the covered porch that had been set up for 2 people, we turned it into seating for 4 which worked well enough for the week. The kitchen is very well appointed, the ac worked great, we had very good internet service, both bedrooms were nicely sized. The property manager Marian was very responsive and helpful in setting up a lovely excursion for us with Enrique from KiKi Tours. He was incredibly knowledgeable and brought us to see a beautiful waterfall, coffee/chocolate tour, a sloth/toucan sanctuary where we got to see some sloths up close. Marian also set us up with Ester for massages at the house and they were incredible.

Right on the Pacific, with plenty of wildlife and great sunsets

Overall a good spot. Clean inside, right on the beach with a convenient outside shower, and close to a river estuary for great walks and wildlife viewings. Little grocery store, reasonably well stocked, is about a mile away, and several good restaurants about the same distance - Lochita's, neat little native spot, and 2 hotel restaurants as well. Master bedroom suite is upstairs, with only access a narrow, steep metal spiral staircase - not for everyone. The pool and entrance to the beach is shared with occupants (if there are any) of a guest house on the property. We were fortunate to have a great couple staying there, so there was no real invasion of privacy for us. While there were a few things we would have liked (i.e. 4 chairs inside for kitchen table, more than 2 chairs for outside/pool area), the main problem was swarming bees in the pool the entire stay, despite various attempts to get rid of them. For some this would make the pool unusable, because they swarmed in the two areas of entrance and exit to the pool. They supposedly didn't sting, but we were stung 3 times during the week. We are currently unsuccessful in our attempt to get our security deposit back, as the owners have declared "significant damage" to something we acknowledge, but feel is relatively minor. Based on the above, we would not recommend the rental to friends or relatives. Larry and Cindy Squire Art and Meredith Fancy

Amazing home

The home, location and management went above and beyond our expectations. The house: Clean and organized. Well equipped kitchen, it has everything! Extra towels, sheets and beach towels available. Pool and grounds are maintained regularly. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating by the pool. Quiet with the beautiful sounds of birds and waves. They provide a binder with information about the home and surrounding area. Places to eat, shop, excursions, tide schedule, how to contact authorities/medical. Also brochures of the different birds and animals you might find in Costa Rica. The beach: Gorgeous black sand beach. No sea weed or rocks. Beautiful shells to be found (make sure to take photos and enjoy them while you are there as they cannot be removed from the beach). Pretty sunsets. Private. Ocean water is warm and we felt safe swimming. The Management: Marian is helpful, caring and available. She made us feel as though the place was ours. She gave us a quick tour of the home and property to show us where to find things. I didn’t need much from her as everything was perfect, but I know if I did she would be right on it. She even made a special trip over to say goodbye before we left. There are places near by to pick up groceries and eat out. We did not have to drive all the way to Tamarindo for these things. I do recommend gassing up before arriving as there are no “close” gas stations. Our favorite place to eat was at the Guacamaya Lodge just down the road. They offer breakfast lunch and dinner. If you are looking for a remote place to enjoy some quiet time and nature, this is it! Enjoy!

Beachfront Christmas

My wife and I and my two daughters were very excited to stay at the house that we saw on Beachfront Bargain Hunt. After seeing the episode we really liked the area of Junquillal. When we started to research, right away we knew we knew we had to go. There are beautiful beaches, Junquillal is renowned for the best fishing in Guanacaste, restaurants, a fun little town called Paraiso, paddle boarding, surfing, zip line tours and horseback riding. The paddle boarding was right down the street from the property in the estuary and my girls loved it! We couldn't believe we found the same house for rent and it didn't disappoint. Merry Christmas to us! We want to come back next year. The house is on a huge well manicured property with lime, orange, coconut and star fruit trees. There were pineapple bushes too. Having our own private pool was a big bonus for the girls we felt like we had our own little piece of paradise. Laying by the pool you could hear the waves. Almost every morning there was a little yellow bird that joined us for breakfast. Later in the day an iguana would look through the bushes for flowers to eat. The beach is beautiful unspoiled black sand just yards from the house. I caught a yellow finned tuna surfcasting. Swimming in the surf was no problem and it definitely was very mellow at low tide. We found a little cove about a 10 min walk north up the beach where the conditions were like a swimming pool. Sleeping arrangements worked well we had the girls staying in the guest house while we stayed in the main house on the top floor with a 180° view of the ocean and our own private porch... very romantic. We had the best of both worlds. We were secluded in nature and a beautiful landscape but if we wanted to go out we could drive to town in 5 mins and enjoy the culture and another 20 mins go to Tamarindo which is a highly developed town with lots of things to do. We will be back next year. Loved our stay and would highly recommend this spot.

Depends on your wants...

I would not stay here again with my children. I might stay here again with my spouse. This is not a beach for swimming. It has strong rip currents and an uneven bed. Despite having exchanged emails with a specific check-in time, the property manager was not there at the agreed upon time. Checking my email revealed that she wanted a text when we were passing through a certain town along the way, despite my having made it clear that we did not have cell or internet service in transit. I had to ask the fortunately present electrician if he could contact her for us and let her know we were waiting. The walkthrough was unnecessarily convoluted and involved three separate SETS of keys and alarms. The laundry is in a separate building near the gate of the property, not practical for regular loads or late-night use. The electricity went out 3-7 times a day, which also impacted our ability to do laundry. The chemicals in the pool weren't balanced, so we didn't use the pool as much as we would have like. My children broke out in aggressive rashes after use, despite showering, which was compounded by the bites we all received inside. I had to rescue crabs from the downstairs shower (they come up through the floor drain), so we really only had one shower (the kids understandably did not want to shower in the crab shower and were fearful of harming as much as getting harmed). This is a beautiful location, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the kitchen is well-appointed. This would make for a wonderful get-away or writer's retreat. As the internet was out most of our stay, the property manager granted us use of the casita on the property for quick internet use. However, I had a project due that required more sustained use and the inability to really use many of the highlights of this property for our children meant we left a day early.
