Located near some good fishing and hiking spots

The location near the lake and hiking trails is great! The cottage itself is clean but there's a noticable amount of wear and tear in things like cracks and holes in the walls, worn or cracked plates/cutting boards, blemishes in the sofas, old and ragged towels. The place is very snug, it is definitely a cottage more than a house. The scenery around the outside of the place would be great if not for all the neighboring structures and homes which are very close. Having such close neighbors did not ruin the experience but certainly made it less than the remote escape into the mountains and wilderness that I had hoped for. Otherwise the location near Burr Oak is great, offering fishing and hiking options. And the hot tub was a nice place to relax at night.

Excellent host and property!

We had a wonderful weekend at this cabin. Host was very friendly, it was easy to check in, cabin was very clean, and the hot tub was awesome! Would definitely recommend a stay at this place.

Anniversary Get Away

Came with my husband to unwind and relax for our anniversary. The cabin is cozy and cute. Enjoyed the hot tub. Close to some great trails to hike. And the lake is beautiful!

Loved our stay!

The cabin was just the right size for me and my husband and our dog. We loved being so close to the lake and Burr Oak State Park. We rented a pontoon boat from The Float Shack and had a wonderful time on the lake! Our host was very communicative and helpful throughout our stay! Highly recommend!

Good client communication

This was a nice property to stay at that was definitely remote. The listing shows the front of the cabin but you won’t see that when pulling in. Definitely follow the instructions from the owner. Hot tub is well maintained.

Lovely Escape

Located in the lovely rolling hills of southeast Ohio, right at the edge of Burr Oak State Park, this compact property has it all, just as described. Well stocked with everything from linens to cookware, we were quite comfortable. and yes! we got in the hot tub even thought it was 90+ degrees outside! Our hosts were easily reachable and quick to respond. Not only did they leave us a lovely thank you note but also a gift of farm fresh eggs! Outstanding!

Cabin near Burr Oak Dock 2

We rented this place to be near Burr Oak Lodge for a much anticipated Life Celebration (our mother recently died, my husband grew up nearby). The house was filthy. I had to vacuum, clean drawers in kitchen, wash very musty, stinky bath towels (before we could use them). Under the cabinet in kitchen was a slow, long term leak (nasty, wet towels left there, covered in mold). The AC didnt work either. I texted the owner. They never called to check on us. Also, the property sits on a tiny lot(not disclosed). Most of the land belongs to the house next door. That owner was not pleased to have people on their lawn.

Quaint, basic but well appointed, close to Burr Oak

Everything you need for a rural stay near the lake, plus high speed internet! Totally impressed they had backup propane on hand for the grill when we ran out, as well as some of the the nice quality kitchen tools that were available. While I wish our dogs were well behaved enough to run around the large property, it's worth noting that several local outdoor cats as well as chickens would probably taken umbrage! We loved hearing the chickens making goofy noises and squawks, and smelling the honeysuckle waft onto the porch. My partner loved the very large fire pit on the front lawn, and we both enjoyed the privacy of the hot tub on the back porch.

The mosquitos and insects were pretty bad

We did not want to go outside unless we had to. We were all covered in mosquito bites. There’s was tall growth around the house which’s attracts a lot of bugs. The outside furniture was dirty with spiderwebs. Poinson ivy growing up the side of the house. I would recommend doing a spray of the yard for mosquitos. Also do a landscape around the house(get as many tires away from the house as you can). If anything, maybe leave some yard guard spray for people to use. We went and bought our own and it helped a little.
