Calm and beautiful

We had a very nice stay in Giusso castle. The appartement was nice and functional, lots of space for only two persons. We were disapointed with the elevator being closed for our entire stay and private access to the sea was not possible. It’s an information that we wished we knew prior to our stay. The rest was just perfect !

Great stay in an surprising place on Naples bay

We are a family of 4 with two young teenagers (11 and 13). Giusso Castel has been a really nice stay. At the time we were there, the place was still under remodeling and you may come across construction workers in the courtyard. This generates some minor inconveniences (our water has been cut off for few hours). But this is quickly forgotten when you start cruising in this surprisingly very open huge castle. The ground floor has beautiful large room with painted ceiling in open access. The view from the castle garden and the swimming pool over Naples bay is simply amazing and at this period of the year, we were almost alone. The apartment itself is spacious and convenient for our family. And there is always someone for help in case of problem. The small town of Vico is at 5 min walking distance and is quite charming. For food, we suggest the Pizza a metro (Pizza by the meter), very good super size pizza made in front of you in a very family atmosphere. This seems to be a popular place among locals. If you like real hot chocolate (very THICK), don't miss the Bar Toto, 50 meters from the Pizza a metro. Nice food and nice people.

Mooi appartement, alles aanwezig.

Spectacular!

Stunning location with view from castle over Naples Bay to Vesuvius. Castle grounds immaculate and swimming pool delightful. Dramatic lift descent to private beach. Apartment very well equipped and aesthetically pleasing. Safe parking and good security. Usually v. quiet - except when weddings held

Very nice apartment, much nicer than advertised!

The apartment is very spacious and well furnished. It is very clean and has everything we needed. I feel that I must write the review because when I was booking I read some dated reviews and had some apprehension. But now I’d like to let people who are interested to know not to worry about those issues. There is plenty of hot water. The internet is strong. The picture of the bathroom doesn’t do it justice. The real thing is much nicer. There is a good wash machine, very clean. Airing facility is good as well. During our stay, 8 to 15 September, the air conditioning was out of order. But we didn’t suffer from it. There are fans. I think also the high ceilings help. We were very satisfied with the apartment and wish we had the time to stay another week. We were busy seeing sights. It seems just hanging out in the apartment/castle can be very nice. Both the pool and the beach are great. I definitely recommend this apartment. It was also a great pleasure to meet Maria Lidia. Now I mention the restaurants. Pizzeria Al Buco is a traditional Italian restaurant with very reasonable prices and tasty food. Pizzeria Franco is also good. As it is a deli, the toppings are of a high quality. If you go down the alley way out of the castle and carry on till the end, you’ll find a very up market restaurant called Di Soile e Luna. It offers very artistically arranged food which also taste good. Great service and setting as well. Best of all, it isn’t expensive. One restaurant let us down was Buenos Aires. First we were told all the lower priced wines were not available. We had the large mix grill, which on the menu was priced 50 Euro. But when the bill came, it was 60 Euro. We did check with the waiter. He then produced a menu which indicated 60 Euro, but only by a sticker. My husband peeled it off and of course on the print it is 50. We said to them “If you want to rip us off, we’ll let you have the money just to end this unpleasant experience.” So we paid and walked out. Next we knew the waiter was chasing us. He was almost in tears. He said “I don’t want you to think that I am a bad person. I had to do what the inside tells me.” Sad!

A wonderful place - we just didn't want to leave

We spent a wonderful week at this lovely apartment. We were looking for beautiful surroundings, great facilities without the bland impersonal features of 5* hotels, a non touristy location and a place to relax. This was perfect! It was just as we expected from the photographs with plenty of space for a family of 4, we felt very 'at home' here. The castle is delightful in a beautiful setting with peaceful gardens, a super pool area and a lovely beach. Very clean and well maintained. Food from the bar and beach was so inexpensive and fresh that there was no need to self cater at all. Despite our limited Italian and few English speakers in Vico we felt very welcome at the castle and in the restaurants and cafes. We could not fault the assistance we received from the owner and the concierge at the castle. We would highly recommend this property and look forward to visiting again ourselves. The location is perfect for visiting Naples, Sorrento, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum. The train station is a very short walk away with a regular inexpensive service. If you do hire a car go small - the narrow road to the castle is very narrow! Our only disappointment is that we booked to stay for just one week. We could very easily have spent 2 or 3 weeks here enjoying the tranquility of the castle, the friendly little town and the many nearby visitor attractions. A marvellous place.

Cozy apartment in a castle with private beach!

My wife and I spent 10 days in this beautiful castel, in September 2014. The apartment is exactly the same as it appears from the pictures, so you get exsctly what you see. While not brand new, the apartment is practical and cozy and can easily accommodate 4/5 people (2 in the master bedroom and 2/3 upstairs). The owner of the apartment is very responsive. The strength of this arrangement is absolutely the context where the apartment is located: a beautiful and charming castel with nice gardens, pool and a private beach, which is a great deal for the residents of the castel considering how busy and pricey beaches of Sorrento coast are. Additionally, it's worth mentioning the charming common areas of the castel like the movies room orl the library. Overall this was an amazing experience and I would dedinitely recommend to anyone else.

Castello Guiso fin octobre
