Hickory of Pine Cone Lodge is very spacious with room to both stretch out and gather in comfortably, with plenty of large windows for natural light and beautiful views of the lake! The space is well designed to accommodate a group: quiet, comfortable bedrooms with great space for keeping clothes; clean, roomy bathrooms; the kitchen was great for meal prep and serving a crowd; large screen TVs and lots of seating for everyone who wanted to take in some football or a movie ~ we had a great time. Hickory checked every box for our family ranging from babies to grandparents. We would stay again and highly recommend!
Renting this property was a great experience. Bonnie, our host, gave us all the information we needed and she did not oversell, the property was everything it was said to be!
The space was designed for groups and families. With separate spaces for sleeping and huge group spaces for gathering. The weather didnt allow us much outside time to enjoy the property, but the inside was warm and inviting. Our group of 6 had ample room to roam, a much larger group could be easily accommodated.
What a beautiful property! The home was just as described and the views were even better in person. Very clean and accommodating home. Loved the property, location and size of the resort. Great location near Park Rapids, MN and a quick drive to Itasca State Park. We can’t wait to go back and hopefully spend a little more time there. Highly recommend.
Place was clean and had everything that we needed. We all found the beds to be comfortable. Did not find the laundry bags to strip the beds. We really enjoyed our stay.
This home at Pine Cone Lodge was just beautiful. My husband, adult daughter and I spent 3 nights here initially with the intention of visiting Itasca State Park. I have to say, once we arrived at his home, we were in no hurry to leave for any day trips! The home is just as described, it was the cleanest home we have ever rented, so comfortable and stocked with all we needed. One thing that was not clear in the initial information on the house, is that you have free use of their canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and paddle boards! We spent a day on the water and at the house, simply enjoying the beautiful lake right outside our door. We were lucky enough to see eagle, loons, fox, blue herron from the house. Bonnie was easy to rent with, very friendly and made us feel right at home at Pine Lodge. Itasca State Park was a beautiful day trip we would recommend, but we would have enjoyed more lake time. We look forward to returning someday.
We were looking for an area to ride side by sides and I found this beautiful house on Big Sand Lake in Park Rapids. The pictures were so inviting that we thought if the house was half as nice that we’d be happy. Happily, it surpassed our expectations. Gorgeous, clean home, friendly folks, reasonably priced & the nearby trails were phenomenal. And to top it off the guys were able to catch some panfish in the nearby pond. Very happy with our weekend! Hope to return.
Overall a great stay, enjoyed the property and surrounding area. Only slight annoyance was they don't supply towels, hand soap, limited TP and garbage bags. Wasn't a huge deal, we were told in an email but missed it and had to go out and buy towels. Don't forget and bring your own!
Everything was very relaxing. Very clean place and great place with the kids. Loved the beach and access to the lake. Kids absolutely loved the water toys and were in the lake as soon as possible in the morning even though water was 58. Definitely stay here again
Amazing home and ready for the new world we are living in.
This home was everything we were looking for and more for Mother's Day! We wanted somewhere we could keep my mother safe and healthy but still enjoy the lake. The owner practiced all of the proper precautions and the home was spotless, cozy and comfortable. We will definitely be back.
Such a lovely place. Very spacious, clean and a beautiful view. Plenty of beds, and bathrooms to accommodate a large gathering. Close to some interesting small towns, and Park Rapids. Lots of fun shopping. Would highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Bonnie Brand
The Brand Family has owned Pine Cone Lodge since 1960. Starting as an American Plan resort serving 3 meals a day to guests in the Lodge. With the way family vacation, Pine Cone now has become a group of vacation homes. We are a licensed MN resort. The new homes have replaced the old cabins. We are the third generation owners.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property to add to our resort. The land was originally owned by Pine Cone. We needed to sell it in 1993 so we are very happy that we were able to buy it back. It provides a home on its own lots but you still have use of the rest of the resort. .
What makes this property unique
This home is located on its own lot right next to the resort so enjoy the space yet have access to the rest of the resort.
