Very private with beautiful little lake

The private land and lake make this property so unique. If you have a camping mindset then the little house with feel like me than enough. The buildings could all use some refreshing but the atmosphere and amenities on the land more than make up for it. We would stay here again!

2nd Trip better than the 1st

We visited for the week for our second time in 2 years. Again, expectations were met and exceeded! Everything was clean and wonderful from the start. We spent most of each day at the lake and pool enjoying the beautiful surroundings and things to do. The only people we encountered on property were the maintenance guys who were exceptionally nice and gave us descriptions and info about the property. 6 adults, 11 year old, 3 year old and infant. We left the property just twice. Once spending the day in near by Lewisburg, which is a great little town to explore. We recommend sitting outside at the Humble Tomato. Then another day we explored the New River Gorge, about 45 minutes away. We hiked and then went Ace Resort water park, inflatables on the water, for the 2nd time as well and it was great again. We love this property and will definitely be back in the future! Highly recommended!

Peaceful Retreat

Lovely location. Spent our time on the lake in the boats and fishing. The only negative was the beds which are very low to the ground - they could use some updates and a box spring.

Fantastic location and property

The house is perfect for a family. Well stocked and very serene/quiet location. The property itself is very unique - sprawling with lots of woods and trails, as well as the pool and lake. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful, secluded, relaxing vacation

Our stay had many benefits for the whole family. We normally go to the beach, but the gorgeous house hidden in the woods was just as fun. The walk or bike ride from the house to the lake provides plenty of exercise but a car may be necessary if you are bringing large or delicate objects down from the house. The house was very roomy and it was relaxing to be able to play in the infinity pool, hot tub, and lake all day and then come back to rest at the end of the day. GORGEOUS VIEWS!!

Peaceful, relaxing, and something for everyone

This was the best family getaway. It has something for everyone to enjoy. We used the kayaks and canoe daily along with the sauna, hot tub, and pool. We drove over to the pool house daily and would have lunch along with dinner. We caught bluegill, crappie and tons of bass fish. There is plenty of towels and having washer/dryer on site made it so easy to always have clean towels the following day. It was so much fun and hope to return next year!

Best experience of my life

We stayed a long weekend with two adults and three teen boys. Our days consisted of early morning tea from the kettle, exploration on the trails, board games, naps, painting, and time at the lake enjoying the water and fall color. The aesthetic of every element is perfect. Even the kids commented on the way the infinity edge pool seems to become one with the lake. We boated. We danced to music on the home speakers. We said “open sesame” at each entry and exit of the gate. :) The town of Lewisburg was fine, but for me, I would prep meals in advance for reheat and just plan to stay on the property. We did bring discs for disc golf and yoga mats. Both would be worthwhile to bring along! 4 days was not enough! I did not want to come home, and I will always cherish this time and place.

For nature lovers

This was by far one of my favorite family vacations. The house was very clean and the property was very well maintained. Mark was a pleasure to meet and so was Scott. There was something for everyone and we kept busy. We built sand castles and sand animals. Went hiking, biking, fishing. swimming and kayaking on the property. This was a perfect place to also work on a few merit badges towards my son’s Eagle Scout. The bird watching merit badge was fun for everyone we saw a Kingfisher, 2 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles while Kayaking. We also saw a mother Robin taking care of her babies and watched them grow up and leave their nest. We also worked on my my sons kayak, nature and canoe merit badges. We felt safe on the lake teaching both our boys what to do if it flips as we had amazing visibility through the clear water and could easily teach them in the shallow part of the lake. Our dog also had an amazing time on the paddle boards and kayaks too. There was a lot to do in the surrounding area as well. We went horseback riding, white water rafting, visited the caverns and completed a self guided tour of Lewisburg. We also found a few geocaches in the area for that merit badge as well. We had an amazing time and enjoyed the family time without all the electronics. We only watched one movie while we were there, The Great Outdoors. Unfortunately we didn’t see any bald bears but there were several deer. The pictures are great but this is really something you have to see in person it is just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your home!

Fantastic lake house

We have stayed in several great short term rentals, but this really takes it to another level. Beautiful area, amazing lake and pool, great fishing, everything perfect. The house itself is great. We had 6 adults, 9 and 2 year old kids. Plenty of space. Great firepit for our evening fires. Cooked dinners each nice. Great space! Pool/ Lake / Pool House Often times the pictures are better than what you actually find upon arrival. Not the case here. The infinity Pool is beautiful! This was our main spot each day. Hottub was perfect as well. Full kitchen at the pool was awesome for food and snack each day. The lake is fantastic! Beautiful! Nice canoe and kayaks that we took out each day. However the fishing was the best we have ever seen. Over 250 Bass over the course of our week!!! Unbelievable!!! It was awesome!! We ventured into Lewisburg a couple of times which is about 20ish minutes. It has everything you need. Greenbrier trail is awesome for a run or bike ride. We also went the other direction to the new river gorge in about 50 minutes. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking to get away from everything and enjoy the beautiful land and facilities. We hope to return in the future.

Great stay in peaceful, serene setting

Our family (toddler, two dogs) had a great time at Dawson Lake--everything was as advertised. The pool, sauna, and hot tub area are fantastic for kids. And views of the lake are scenic/calming. Additionally, there was plenty to do within a 30-60 minute drive. We went various places to hike around the New River, enjoyed charming Lewisburg on multiple occasions, and spent time in Fayetteville as well.

A contemporary mountain home and a lake to ourselves...

Our party of six, covering three generations plus a dog, stayed in Aug '21. We had a great time! The star of the show is the lake/pool/pool house/sauna set up. While it appears to have been built for a community, it now serves only two rental houses (It's unclear to me if the community is currently being built, or if the project was halted/abandoned. I did not ask.). You'll probably want to make the short drive between the Meadow Bridge house and the lake - there is plenty of parking. It's about a 15 minute walk, but walking back might be tough for older folks or young kids. We did not see another soul for our week stay other than the workers employed by the owner of the property (they were friendly and polite). I think there would have been plenty of room for two groups by the pool/lake if that were the case, but to have the whole property to ourselves was amazing. Our boys (ages 7 and 9) spent most of the days in the pool and fishing off the dock. The infinity pool is big, clean, and fantastic. The fishing was very good for our group of novices - crappies and bass were caught right off the dock. The property has a lot of gear - kayaks, paddle boats, a canoe, etc. Pool toys were also available as were life vests for the kids (not sure about adult life vests). We did not use the firepit at the pool or at the house because it rained most nights we were there - but both locations were stocked with fire wood. The property by the lake is fenced in completely, so we were able to let our crazy mini labradoodle run around without a leash. We did not cook at the lake, but there was a grill as well as a full kitchen in the pool house. We only used the fridge, but everything else looked to be in working order. Adjacent to the house is a rather impressive frisbee golf course, so you might want to bring a frisbee (we could not find one to try it out and the Walmart 20 minutes away was out of them). The house itself was very clean and met our needs. Everything was in working order and well cared for and the grill on the deck appeared to be fairly new. The small washer and dryer came in handy. Small areas for improvement could be additional seating in the dining area for a party of six, a window covering of some sort in the loft bedroom so that our kids could sleep in a bit (we used a sheet), and the living room seating in front of the only TV was not super comfy. But that's just me nitpicking the small stuff. The place is awesome!

Paradise

We've stayed at many VRBO's and this was the best! The lake and pool area is unreal. The house is awesome as well. Great beds, kitchen supplies, clean bathrooms, etc. Mark the caretaker was super nice as were the other workers on the property. It is a good drive from much of anything, but Lewisburg about 28 minutes has a bunch of great restaurants and things to do. We stopped at Kroger in Lewisburg and got most of what we needed to cook for the week The gorge is about an hour but is worth the trip. Lost Caverns is definitely worth a visit as well. Would definitely stay here again!

The Perfect Escape

This rental was absolutely wonderful. It was myself, my husband, our 3 very young sons, and our 2 dogs. We got in later than expected and and got turned around in the dark -as the GPS kept taking us the wrong way. (I should have just followed the emailed instructions-they clearly stated the GPS may not work.) I finally gave up and called the property manager and he was very kind and very helpful. The house is beautiful and very well cared for. It is a bit more worn in than the pictures portray. Everything was clean-I think the only thing we noticed was that the windows were quite dirty on the outside so looking out at the beautiful view we noticed it, but it wasn’t a big deal. There was a golf cart in the garage but we were unable to get it working. I’m sure had I called the property manager he would have helped us with it-but with our kids it was just easier to use our car to drive to the pool and lake. There is a nice fire pit past the garage and fixings for s’mores, which were an absolute hit! There were no chairs out by the fire pit so we used some logs and got creative. The grounds of the property were all nicely mowed and easy to navigate. The pool was clear and sparkling and quite a hit with the kids. The pool house was well stocked with rafts and life jackets of various sizes. It was so nice to be able to spend the entire day at the pool and lake with a full kitchen and bathrooms close by for the kids. The lake was well-stocked for easy fishing. We caught quite a variety of fish including large mouth bass. The lake was so clean nice and some days the sun made it feel warmer than the pool. Overall, we had an amazing vacation and are already talking about going back. Our boys keep calling it our other house so I think it’s a winner!

Beautiful, relaxing retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Dawson Lake. It's an extensive property, secluded in the woods, with access to a private pool and lake. The pool and lake are an 8-minute walk from the house. The closest grocery store is 20-25 minutes and the selection is so-so. We did two activities - Lost World Caverns and the Aerial Adventure at Greenbrier. The aerial adventure (pricey) was one of our favorite activities. The house does not have wifi but cell service is excellent. We were able to work and do virtual school (1st grade) without an issue. Adding an Apple TV or an internet capability television would be a welcome addition. We streamed movies on our laptop. Kitchen is well stocked for making dinner. Plenty of equipment to go kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, and more on the property. Mark was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend Dawson Lake for a week-long retreat from the city or for a remote working/learning change of pace.

Truly Luxurious Mountain Getaway

Our trip was perfect. The property, home, and amenities are gorgeous. Having all of the features to ourselves was luxurious. The pool house is perfect for setting up for the day. No need for constant schlepping between the house and the pool/lake. The grounds could not be more beautiful and we were there in early spring before most of the scenery was even in bloom. I can't imagine how breathtaking the property is later in the spring/summer or in the fall. We will definitely be back!

Beatuful mountain home in a peaceful secluded setting

Great stay. Beautiful home had a great fireplace and huge windows in the living room. High quality appliances (big refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, washer and dryer) and modern bathrooms. It had everything we needed and the stock of firewood was a nice touch. The location is really what makes this place. It is set in a huge (100+ acres?) private community, but this is the only house that has been built thus far, so it's very secluded. It's just a short walk to the lake which has a large (10' diameter) hot tub, a pool (which wasn't open in March, of course), a clubhouse with a full kitchen, and a pool house with a fantastic sauna. We used the kayaks and canoes on the lake and even caught a few fish, which are back in the lake for you. It's about 30 mins to Lewisburg, WV which is a really nice small town with a good selection of restaurants. Then 30 mins in the other direction to good hiking along the New River Gorge. Highly recommended.
