Grey Goose Cottage is a delightful fisherman's cottage which sleeps 3 in 2 bedrooms. Fully centrally heated and completely redecorated this year, the house has a wonderfully sunny, south facing enclosed courtyard in which to relax with a glass or two, after a busy day on the beach. Downstairs the cottage comprises of a sitting room and kitchen with dining room table and upstairs there are two bedrooms (one with a glimpse of the sea!) and a light and airy family bathroom. There are books, games, toys and wifi. The house is dog friendly. Grey Goose Cottage is situated within minutes of the Buttlands where there are fantastic award winning gastropubs. Wells Quay is a few yards away where you can watch the local fishermen bring in their catches and children can have great fun fishing for crabs off the 'Albatros' clipper boat. We are also delighted to see a new ice cream parlour which has opened at the bottom of the street just before you reach the playground. From the harbour you can take the miniature steam train down to Wells beach with it's brightly painted huts and if you are lucky, spot a seal or two. There is so much to do here from sailing and bird watching to enjoying the outdoor cinema at Holkham. The Chocolate Deli in Walsingham is also worth a visit especially for their fantastic chocolate making workshops. Wells Carnival in August and the Pirate Festival in September are also great fun. There is wonderful Christmas shopping in the area too. Burnham Market has some fantastic shops and Christmas is celebrated with pretty lights and a skating rink on the green. Father Christmas arrives in Wells Quay by boat, under a display of fireworks at the beginning of December which is quite magical.

Lovely cottage in a fab central location!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grey Goose Cottage for a long weekend in September 2024. The check in process was simple and clear instructions/ guidance was provided. We arrived late on a Friday evening and were greeted to a little starter kit of milk & biscuits for a nice cup of tea! The cottage is in such a great location and within walking distance to the quay, town and all restaurants. We had a 3 year old with us, and the cottage came with a stair gate and bedside gate - which were very handy! All in all a great stay, and we will definitely be back! Thanks.

Ideal location - shame about the cleanliness

Beautiful little cottage in an awesome location - great check in process, very good facilities. Cleanliness really let it down which is a massive shame. Kitchen dirty - too many things to mention here. Bedrooms dusty, bathroom not cleaned properly. Would possibly return if the property had a thorough and very deep clean.

Ideal location, close to quay and shops.

The cottage is bright, cheerful and has been tastefully furnished. Well equipped and ideal for couples and a child. The stairs are quite steep, so may be challenging for older guests and very young children. The bed was very comfortable. There are plenty of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance. There is no parking at the cottage. There is a car park nearby which cost £6 per day or you could find a space on a local street.

We had the most relaxing break in Wells this weekend.The cottage was lovely and so close to the quay.It was a short walk to shops Andy restaurants.The bedding in the cottage is beautiful white cotton,it certainly makes the stay rather lovely.The cottage is lovely and cosy,all things you needed were included ,and the treat tray was a lovely surprise.The owner could not have been more helpful before our stay in her property.

Beautiful little cottage

Beautiful little cottage right near the sea front. Perfect for our little family of three. Great location. Very clean. Cozy wood burner. Well appointed. Lots of lovely touches. Decorated beautifully with excellent attention to detail. Perfect base for beach trips and exploring. Car park close by. Big fluffy towels, good shower. No lengthy clean-up leaving-day demands. Look forward to coming back.

Lovely seaside cottage

We spent a week at Jane's lovely cottage with our 5 year old daughter who didn't want to leave! It was very homely and comfortable. It was also very well equipped. Location is perfect for visiting Wells and well placed for the 20 min walk or short drive to the wonderful sandy beach. Communication with Jane was excellent too. Would happily stay again.

Another great stay at Grey Goose Cottage

This was our 2nd visit to this lovely cosy cottage. It is just around the corner from all of Well's shops ,restaurants and bars and a short walk to the dog friendly beach. The cottage has everything and more that you could need to make your stay perfect. We will deftinetly be booking again for next year!

Cozy cottage in a great location

Lovely Cosy Cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay at Grey Goose Cottage.It has everything and more that you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.The welcome wine ,biscuits and even biscuits for our dog Ralf were a lovely extra touch. The property is in a perfect location for the promenade,shops and restaurants with the beach being a short walk away. We deftinately be returning next year.

cosy cottage felt like home

lovely cottage felt like home when we arrived there was a bottle of wine flowers and buiscuits waiting for us how lovely. The cottage is so close to all the action and garden is so pretty we sat in it most evenings did not get much sun during the day . every thing you needed was in the cottage including books we absolutely loved it made our wonderful holiday in wells we will be coming back thank you ♥️

Cosy and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay at Grey Goose cottage. It had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. We experienced some extremely windy, cold weather and it was nice to be able to return to a warm, comfortable, cosy cottage. We loved the decor/accessories of the cottage; very home from home. To be able to enjoy a roaring fire was a bonus. We would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage

I can only add to all the good reviews. Grey Goose is of course in a fab location right in the middle of Wells. In the winter you can park right outside the property but the carpark is just a minute away. It was super clean....the oven was spotless!!! The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous and I spent many a happy hour in there listening to the radio whilst cooking. It has everything you need for straightforward cooking. It’s really warm and cosy. The shower is fab. The bed was really comfy. It’s beautifully furnished. It feel safe and it’s quiet. My sister and I and my little dog stayed for 4 nights and we loved it. There is a fab selection of books to read. The WiFi is very good. A little info about Wells if you’ve never been. It’s has a fab high street with mainly independent shops which is a rare joy! Great butcher and greengrocer, charity shops, lovely arty boutiques, a great hardwear store and endless cafes and fish and chip shops. Highly recommend doing the long walk out to Holkham beach, stop for a coffee at the stall or a beer at The Victoria and then walk back through the forest. The coast hopper bus is simple to use if you are too tired and absolutely everywhere is super dog friendly. Can’t recommend highly enough for a couple or a couple of friends as the smaller room is very small but still very comfy for one grown up.

Long Weekend in Wells next to Sea, November 18-21st

We found the property was very well fitted and presented

We enjoyed our stay and Wells is a lovely place. The property is extremely well presented and fitted out and full of thoughtful features. Internet connection was a surprise addition and very useful for local events etc. There were come downsides such as lack of off street parking (we knew that when we booked) and we did find the stairs steep but were are in our seventies. A great place to get away from it all Thanks

Grey Goose Cottage is owned by Jon and Jane. We live in Norfolk and love coming to Wells with our 3 children and our dog Nelly. We spend many happy hours on the beautiful beach here and enjoy exploring the wonderful North Norfolk Coast. We always leave feeling a lot more relaxed than when we arrived!

Why they chose this property

Wells is fantastic for it's 'bucket and spade' lifestyle. Our children love to wander about the town, buying sweets from the sweet shop, fishing off the quay and swinging off the ropes in the woods next to the beach. Grey Goose Cottage is in wonderful location and is a lovely place to retreat to and recharge the batteries. Nothing beats opening the door to the smell of the sea and the sound of the swifts in the summer!
