Rarely do you find a place that lives up to expectations,This did : Location perfect, views outstanding, everything we had hoped for, I can find no fault or criticism.Hosts Dave and Jackie were the best ever.If you want to be in walking distance of the townships, markets, night diners, restaurants- I think you get the picture. Dordogne is beautiful.
Opening eyes in the morning to the sight of a beautiful, changing river... what a peaceful pleasure.
The views from the house are captivating. All the windows open to the back which faces the river.
Inside, it's a very comfortable and picturesque home to live and relax in. There are so many fantastic villages, forests, historical and cultural sites all over the Dordogne and it's nice to come home to a place that feels like you're still in a cultural site (stone walls, wooden beams, long casement windows. )
The terrace is beautiful but, when outside, you do hear (not see) the traffic noise on the street at the front of the house. This is inevitable; if you want to be in a French village, to walk to the butcher, boulanger, cafés, etc., the few roads will indeed pass by the front of the house. The river and the rooms are the back of the house. The swallows over the river, make such beautiful music, that you can choose to hear them instead and to enjoy the garden and its terrace. No mosquitos either (we were here May to June.)
a recommander

Lovely Property, but subject to Noise
This is a delightful and beautifully finished property on the bank of the Vezere river with super views of the river. However it is let down by the fact that it is direct on to a very busy road at the front and is subject to noise from traffic and the village continuously throughout the day and night particularly at weekends. After about midnight during the week the noise level drops but starts again in earnest about 5.30am. Le Bugue village is not very inspiring and in fact is quite grubby, but there are some very beautiful locations on the Vezere and Dordogne within a few miles.

Maginifique

Be warned…
If you stay here you will not see as many sites as you planned. The house and terrace are so comfortable and spacious you will linger a little longer in the morning and return earlier in the afternoon. You will find yourselves buying food at many of the markets in the area to enjoy on the terrace for dinner. Le Bugue has a large market Tuesday mornings and a smaller one -- organic – on Saturdays. If the weather is not right for eating outside the dining/lounge area are wonderful too. When you do get out to visit the historic and pre-historic sites they are easy to get to. We have rented many places in the past dozen plus years, this is our favorite. Thank you, Jackie and David, for providing such a wonderful place.

We travel a lot and rent many homes. This is by far the BEST one.
The location of this beautiful on the river is just amazing. The archecture is glorious.. The renovation was done with great care and attention to design and detail. Every room in this house has a breathtaking river view. Everything about this amazing place is top notch. More like a home then a holiday rental. The garden/patio is huge and has amazing amazing water views. There are lounge chairs eating tables and a sun umbrella on the patio. The owners Jackie and David are the frosting on the cake.. They are kind , helpful and accommodating. Thank you for hosting us.

Why they chose this property
This property is fantastic and the moment we stepped into the front door we put in an offer to buy it! Having a Holiday home in Le Bugue already, up and running for seven years ref FR4883, this property was something entirely different. It is approximately a three minute walk to the centre of Le Bugue, the river views are outstanding and we have renovated it in 2016 to a standard that we ourselves would like to stay or live in.
What makes this property unique
There are many... it is detached with a lovely terrace/garden. A three minute walk to Le Bugue which has all amentities, and the river view is magnificient!
