Fabulous House with Stunning Sea Views to Skye. By NTS gardens. Great Privacy.
Standing above Lochalsh in its own secluded grounds and surrounded by the National Trust for Scotland woodland gardens. South facing and in a magnificent setting with wonderful views of sea and the mountains of Skye rising to over 1000m. Although extremely private, lying along its own track of around 300m, it is only 3-4 minutes by car to Kyle of Lochalsh which has a railway station (the scenic railway line to Inverness really is world famous!) a bank, shops and an excellent supermarket. There is also a smaller supermarket and Post Office about a mile away. Our garden has a large lawn and is planted with Magnolias and mature species Rhododendrons from Bhutan, China and Nepal and which flower from February until August. Doubled glazed with fitted carpets throughout; night storage heating and wood/coal burning stoves; both off-peak and instant electric hot water. If you want to keep in touch, we offer free Fast Fibre Wireless broad band WiFi. It is a wonderful location with great privacy. The skies above us in winter are ink-black and intoxicating - perfect for star-gazing! (when did you last see the Milky Way .....?!)

After a few issues with the heating (which were resolved by host quickly), we really enjoyed our stay in this traditional cottage. Warm, comfortable, spacious, good views to Skye, host very responsive and helpful.
This renovated cottage would be best for a family rather than elder adults. We found the stairs daunting and the tub unsafe climbing in and out. All the furnishings are adequate , some updating to the lounge furniture, beds, pillows would certainly enhance the stay. Access to the closet in the second bedroom would help. The one call to the manager was never returned. Once we found our way in, the quiet, peaceful setting was greatly appreciated.
This is an older, historic home with lovely views of the lake. The home was well appointed and was great for our 3 days. Would definitely recommend it.
It was the perfect place to stay. It is on Loch Alsh and has wonderful walking trails around the property. Close to Skye and Eilean Donan! We loved it!
This cottage was exactly as promised. The views were exceptional. The location was perfect. It was clean and spacious. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful scenery, property very clean, spacious, cosy.only difficulty for us was the bathroom being on the main floor and bedrooms upstairs as the 4 us over 60 and 2 with mobility issues made it a little hard , otherwise perfect

Beautiful location, dated property.
The location of this property is nothing short of spectacular. The property however was disappointing. The owners have tried to maintain the property in the light of its age but sadly the world has moved on since the 1960's. The downstairs bathroom and toilet are a bit daunting if needed in the middle of the night and the single facility for potentially 6 people required one to form an organised line for ablutions. The kitchen was of its time with the feeling generally was that one had gone back in time. As mentioned the location is wonderful and that does help explain the price but I think a makeover is required and the presence of a toilet upstairs should be considered essential. The owners were really informative about the surrounding area with many suggestions of things to do and visit and where to eat and drink. Perhaps they have tried to maintain the 50's feel and in this I think they have succeeded. The house was in no way damp but there was a musty smell all through the house despite the use of night storage heaters and the log burners. One appreciates that the remote location makes modern facilities such as dish washers and central heating a challenge, however, it would be lovely to have the facilities that matched and complimented the natural surroundings.
We only stayed for 3 nights but enjoyed our time. We easily commuted to Skye each day for wonderful hiking, returning to a cozy home by the water. Anna was wonderful, there was an issue with the internet, we didn’t even know was a problem until she reached out with a plan to have it fixed. Before we returned from hiking she had dispatched her local contact to fix the issue. We loved the efforts Anna took to maintain the original feel of the home, while updating where necessary - best shower!!! Thank you for having us.

Disappointing
Description of the view and surrounding area is accurate. However, the house is musty and damp, and cold. The bathroom downstairs is inconvenient with all the bedrooms upstairs, particularly if you have mobility issues. You have to be able to lift your leg about 2 feet in order to get into the bathtub. However, hot showers were great. The faucets in the bathroom and kitchen sinks are not mixed, so you either scald your hands or freeze them. And, the kitchen left much to be desired. Indeed, the fridge, stove and microwave were good, but the kitchen is very old and run down and the kitchen sink is very stained. And, I spent half an hour cleaning the coffee maker filter and filter holder before we could use them with confidence. Much to be done to make this property adequate for airb&b. I will not stay there again, and will not recommend it to friends.
Exterior was inviting. All ended at front door. Interior looks like it was Furnished from Salvation Army on a bad day. Bathroom on ground floor, all bedrooms one flight up. Majorly inconvenient. Downstairs rooms cold all the time. 4 channels of BBC is not having TV. No other good reception. We’ve stayed at small boutique hotels for less. There should be honesty in advertising. This was a major disappointment.
A learning experience with electrical appliances and heaters. My sister and I figured it out trial and error we perservered. The old wood fire stove was nice. the space heaters were not efficient enough in the upstairs. Luckily we are hearty women with camping knowledge . Beautiful spot. Very quiet , serene , private.
Blythswood is a comfortable and homely cottage with stunning views in a peaceful location. The lounge and dining room had fabulous views and were very comfortable. We enjoyed being able to walk down to the loch and to access the Lochalsh Woodland walks. It is also a very convenient location for getting out and about to different places. The kitchen was dated but clean and well equipped although some of the equipment did seem a tad shabby and would benefit from replacing eg the plates & bowls were fine, but the mugs were just a random mixture of old and well used ones, as was the cutlery. The bathroom was fine for us, but older, less mobile people may struggle getting in and out of the bath for a shower as it is quite high up. The access track and gateweay felt quite narrow and initially slightly unnerving.
However, we enjoyed our stay and would return .
We had a great stay at Blythwood. The view from the house is stunning. The house is very well located for exploring Skye and further north to Applecross.
Great property and location. Just as expected. However the beds were very uncomfortable for a weeks stay! The mattresses were thin and the double beds low and creaky! The one bathroom downstairs is an inconvenience, but we knew it would be when we booked. We would love to book again if new good quality beds are to be provided.
Het huis is ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. De keuken is top. Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig. Het uitzicht vanaf de woonkamers is subliem. Je kijkt zo aan tafel met je kopje koffie over Lochalsh.

Lovely location, bit nitpicky
We generally really loved this house- it sits in a beautiful garden, overlooking the loch (it's not right on the waterfront). Great garden for dogs, and lovely short walks in the woodland next door. Really close to Kyle and Skye. Only real gripes- for this price would expect all linen included, as well as electric charges. I don't want to read metres and calculate charges on my holiday! The "charge sheet" was also the first thing i read on walking in, which is not v friendly. Even just add a wee bit onto the price and include it- makes it less nitpicky. In general tho, really lovely place, would recommend it.
