About this property

APHROULA'S APARTMENT - for 2 - 4 persons in a beautiful, quiet corner of Greece

Aphroula's House is a modern, very comfortable and well equipped property set in a beautiful and quiet location at the back of the village of Milina. Upstairs there is a double bed APARTMENT with a large open plan kitchen/sitting/dining area. The kitchen has a full sized oven with 4 rings, fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster and coffee maker, and a full range of cutlery, crockery and glassware. The sitting room also has a large and comfortable sofa-bed. There is also a music machine consisting of a combined CD player, FM radio and Bluetooth player so that you can stream music from your phone or tablet. The shaded terrace in front of the Apartment has views through the trees, down the valley and out to sea, and has a marble dining table and two sun loungers. The Apartment has ceiling fans, and an air-conditioner.

Behind the house the hills, covered with olive trees, climb steeply to the village of Lafkos. The lane stops here at the house, so there is no passing traffic... it's very peaceful.

Note that since the pictures were taken the trees have grown considerably, but the views are still there.

Our Village: Milina is the largest of the seaside villages here in South Pelion - though that is not saying much, with an electoral register of only some 800 souls. However, we have a good grocery and provisions store, two butchers, two bakers, two souvenir shops, and a couple of shops selling 'summer things' - beach shoes, sun hats, and buckets and spades, etc - and a chemist. And along the waterfront there is a really good selection of tavernas specialising in traditional Greek dishes. There are several souvlaki joints, a pizza palace, and several bars and cafes all with the sea just a metre or so away. Finally the beaches. The sea here in the Gulf of Volos is normally quiet, calm and warm, and as the beaches don't shelve, and there are no rocks or currents, it is ideal for children.

TAXES.
At the bottom of the Prices box under the final cost there is a clickable link 'Price details'. Click on this and on the pop-up screen you will see a Host Fee charge. This refers to the Greek government mandated Climate Crisis Resilience Fee (in Greek ΤΑΚΚ ΔΙΑΜΟΝΗ). For the summer 2025 period (1 March - 31 October) this charge is Euros 8.00 per accommodation unit per night, and will be passed on to the Greek tax authority (ΑΑΔΕ).

An excellent base for a quiet holiday in the sun

Aphroula’s apartment is a well appointed holiday residence set in the hillside above the seaside village of Milina. It is in a wonderfully quiet location. A special treat is the birdsong in the early summer which is particularly pleasant as you stroll up from the village in the evening The apartment is well equipped with all the necessary kitchen appliances and has an extensive collection of cooking utensils for self catering although there is a good selection of tavernas in Milina for eating out A particularly pleasant feature is the lounge/second bedroom with its comfortable sofa bed which is an excellent place to relax in the evening while the balcony offers a secluded place to relax during the day where you can enjoy the afternoon sun on the loungers provided The apartment is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners live just up the hill and are on hand to quickly sort out any problems that might arise. They also have an extensive knowledge of the region which is particularly helpful on your first stay The region of Pelion is unspoilt and offers many places to explore and there is a network of well waymarked paths with a regional map for guidance. There is also an excellent selection of beaches, many of which are quiet and secluded Overall the apartment is an excellent base for a quiet ‘get away from it all’ holiday in the sun offering lots of exploration if you have the energy

Two Great Weeks in a Pelion Olive Grove

Aphroula's Apartment is a well-appointed, attractive property set amidst olive groves with lovely views over the Pagasitic Gulf to the islands and the mountains beyond. To the rear the land rises steeply to the village of Lafkos with a cobbled donkey track [called a Kalderimi] for the energetic. The ridge produces an interesting effect at dawn with the far shore, then the islands and finally Aphroula's House being illuminated from the West. The property is very well equipped for anyone wanting to cook for themselves and there was a welcome pack [wine, honey, bread, fruit etc] when we arrived. The place was spotless and it was comforting to know that our hosts lived just up the hill for any emergencies [there weren't any] The village of Milina is a 15 minute stroll away and is well furnished with sea-front tavernas, grocers, two butchers and two bakers. The views from the front across the gulf are amazing with Mt.Pelion looming to the North. Even without a car we were able to visit mountain villages and one of the loveliest beaches in Greece. Would I recommend Aphroula's Apartment to a friend/relative? YOU BET!

I'm Tim, and with me in the photo is my wife Aphroula. I'm English and Aphroula is Greek. We came to Pelion with our two very young daughters more than 40 years ago, and set up a tour operating company bringing visitors to south Pelion from England, France, Germany, America and Australia. We ran Houses of Pelion until we retired in 2012, and in 2001 completed Aphroula's House, designed specifically to cater for our guests - and by then we really felt that we knew what people wanted from their holiday accommodation. We are looking forward to welcoming you to beautiful South Pelion, to Milina, and to Aphroula's House!
