Fantastic holiday in a beautiful cottage!

This cottage was a luxury house, having been recently renovated by the owners. We had a really warm welcome and the standard of decor and blend of old and new was fantastic. Great holiday and great part of the UK to visit.

One of the most beautiful holiday homes in Sussex

Beautifully decorated, a real home from home and stunning views made this one of our most memorable holidays. The owners were so kind and helpful with ideas for days out and local pubs and restaurants to eat! Highly recommended.

An absolutely beautiful cottage, with tasteful decor and views out on to stunning gardens. Great location for visiting attractions in the area. Warm welcome from the owner, who gave us lots of ideas for places to eat and visit. A thoroughly comfortable and relaxing stay. Would love to return.

Wonderful Christmas with all the Added Extras

A lovely place to stay, very tastefully decorated and all home from home mod cons provided (although, you will see this from the photos). Please note, the photos really do not do the cottage the justice it rightfully deserves. Perhaps due to the modesty of the owners. I should say at this point how lovely Ian and John are. They are very welcoming and they are always there if you need them. Side note: Fantastic full length mirrors in the bedrooms and the sofa next to open fire made for some very cosy evenings with the family. There is also a piano which kept us all entertained and a wealth of films and books. The trip consisted of myself (27) along with my Mother and Grandfather and a family friend. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay at Rose Cottage and couldn't find any faults. There is waitrose and tescos a mere 10/15mins away. There are some great pubs very close by, which was handy for my Grandfather who is 78. The pubs are very quaint and exactly what you would expect for a little village in Garden of England. I couldn't recommend this cottage enough, Ian decorated the cottage very tastefully and even put a Christmas tree up for us! Thanks again Ian. Oh and finally, the beds!!! No expense has been spared in this department. I hope this review is helpful for anyone considering booking. If you have any further questions just give me a message. All in all we had a lovely Christmas 2016, Thank you Ian and John. The Griffiths family.

By the way: Ian spricht auch perfekt Deutsch!

About the host

Hosted by Ian Roberts

Host profile image
We are a British Creative Couple, One a Botanical Horticulturalist and the other a Music Agent, relocated from London to East Sussex to restore the gardens and house at Rose Cottage. The restoration took 3 and a half years and the house has hosted many happy events and memories for us both.

Why they chose this property

Rose Cottage has some of the most beautiful views and the village of Brede which the cottage is on the edge of is one of the prettiest and friendly areas in the South East of England. We looked for the perfect home for over 2 years and are so lucky to have found the cottage and gardens which needed our tender loving care. Rose Cottage has been completely restored and extended and now boasts luxurious fixtures and fittings, blending period features with modern touches, making it a home for all seasons.

What makes this property unique

The views of the surrounding countryside and the spectacular Brede Valley make the location of our home a perfect winter or summer retreat. Close to an award winning gastro pub the Red Lion and Brede High Woods, there is nothing better than relaxing in front of our wood burning stove or enjoying the spectacular sunsets on the patio, Rose Cottage is a perfect place to unwind and relax. The house is close to the historic towns of Rye and Hastings and perfect for days out at the beach at Camber , Pett Level and Hastings.
