Better than the listing. Nice, large and clean with everything we needed. We took our fishing boat and caught some nice fish which we cooked over the fire. The lake was fun to explore with lots of loons, eagles and cranes. It felt more private than a lot of other places on the lake. Owners were extremely helpful! We would definitely return.
We came up as a large group. We rented this home and others got a couple of the cabins. This family is spectacular, accommodating and so friendly. Our house had everything we could think of and more. Plenty of seating and space for the entire group to share meals and congregate after our days on the lake. The lake was beautiful and refreshing. We can’t wait to come back!
The house is well done with plenty of nice furniture for everyone. The bedroom basement is nice, but it's worth clarifying that it is ONE bedroom with 3 beds in it - there is no separation. It also has a somewhat musty smell. They have plenty of bedding and really everything you need in the house.
Outside there is a nice big patio, but no view of the lake. The deck off the house needs to be painted and the view is not that great - lots of trees blocking. Yes, I understand DNR rules, but you shouldn't go here thinking you are going to sit on the deck and have a beautiful view. The best view is from the picture window in the living room. The path down to the pier is not safe for anyone not steady on their feet. It is super narrow and more like a trail. The landscaping around the property just plain sucks. They haven't done much except put in the patio. When we were there, the water by the pier was mucky - no swimming by the pier. The pontoon boat was very old, but ran fine, and was $168 for the day. Check in is at noon, but you can't rent the boat for 1/2 day. It was fantastic to have access to the kayaks next door, but it was another dirt trail walk on a small hill to get to them. The lake is big and beautiful and you certainly can swim, just not close to the pier.
Some Saturday nights in the summer there is car racing a few blocks down the street which can get loud.
I imagine this is a fabulous place to stay in the winter if you like ice fishing/snowmobiling
We had a wonderful time. Rice Lake is beautiful. the cabin was clean and well stocked. Host family was close by if we needed anything.
The trail to the dock was narrow, sometimes slippery.
We loved the access to the kayaks, etc!!
Thanks
The cabin was great. Very clean & had everything we needed. Unfortunately, we had rain all weekend so couldn’t enjoy the outdoors but the cabin had games & cards!
Owners were very responsive!
Our stay was nothing short of amazing! There was plenty of room for all of us girls! The living room was huge and perfect for our game nights not to mention the couches and chairs were so comfy!! It was a very private property and the lake was beautiful! The owners were so helpful and went above and beyond!!! Can’t say enough good things about this VRBO!
Fantastic rental house, fantastic fishing and the best owners that you would ever want to deal with on vacation. Definitely would recommend this place in Rice Lake over any others. Thank you from all of us for a great vacation in northern Wisconsin.
Bill, Kathy and Steve.
Doug and Mattie were great about communication and very prompt. The house/cabin is on busy road so difficult to go for walks like we wanted as it is a high traffic area. There were some supplies needed. We asked and they were promptly delivered. Owner made daily visits needing to pick up garbage, work on things or drop items off. Neighbors property fairly close to the cabin. So not very private if that is what you're looking for. We managed but worried that our boisterous group would be disruptive-made it hard to "fully" relax but the owners are super friendly and allow you to utilize the camp ground next door as needed (they own that as well) i.e. fish house to clean fish, purchase ice, use kayaks etc.
The owners Doug and Mattie were so easy to work with and very welcoming made sure everything was working and up to par I will definitely be back for future vacations
The house was spotless and equipped with everything for the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. The fishing 🎣 fantastic!!! Will definitely be back!!!!
Clean, cozy property! The beds were so comfortable!! The kitchen had everything you needed. Internet and cable in case you get stuck inside.
Doug set us up with a pontoon and made sure we knew where to fish. Doug takes an interest in making sure you have the best time possible.
My family stayed here for a week and we loved every moment. The house was very clean and comfortable for all 8 of us. We watched Bald eagles land on a tree over looking the lake and enjoyed cooking out on the grill for dinner. We rented a pontoon from Doug and Mattie and that really made the trip. I highly recommend renting a boat from Doug if you can. My family would definitely stay here again!
The hosts, Mattie and Doug, were helpful and friendly. The property was an excellent balance between comfortable, well-maintained, and stocked with plentiful amenities. The house is larger than it looks and the view is amazing, including an eagle that perches in a tree on the property. Thanks for a memorable stay.
wonderful comfortable house with great views of Rice Lake
This is a great little house for stay at the lake. It is well furnished and everything you need is right there. The lake is lovely and have access to the dock and a canoe is wonderful. Doug and Mattie were very welcoming and helpful. They even offered us the use of the kayaks from their resort next door.
Rice Lake is beautiful though there were a fair few weeds near shore at this point in the season. The water is clean and this end of the lake was very quiet.
It was a good break for us and our dog!
The location was great, super easy to get to from the highway and the house is set far enough off the street that you cannot hear the cars passing. The front yard was massive and flat perfect for yard games. Doug was a fantastic host. Very willing to answer any questions and help us with what we needed. Being able to use life jackets, canoes, kayaks and paddle boats for free was really the cherry on top of our stay. The lake is beautiful with not a lot of boat traffic which was perfect for amateur kayakers such as ourselves.
This property was very clean and updated, great location!
Very nice and clean property. Great location on the lake with a boat dock, perfect if you have a fishing boat. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to family and friends.
