About this property

City Centre Apartment | Temple Bar | Dublin Castle

Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips! This is the best located Airbnb listing in Dublin - and that's no exaggeration. Top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building right in the heart of Dublin city's old historic centre. It has unique won't-find-anywhere-else views of Dublin Castle and City Hall, two of Dublin's most iconic historic landmarks. The building is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from all of Dublin's historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions. The apartment is full of history, tradition and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral. As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it? The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room). It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom. Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening. Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi. You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours. I'll meet you when you arrive to say hello, give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me. Always available and happy to help! Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar. All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk. As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin. One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep! However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away); there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street; dozens of bus routes within 50 metres; Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, and Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk; and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes. It's also a 2 minute walk from the Aircoach's Trinity College/College Green stop (Aircoach is an express airport-to-city bus service, which runs every 10 minutes and will get you to or from the airport in just 20 minutes). Standard check-in is at any arranged time between 3pm and 8pm. Because I can't personally do a check-in after 8pm, check-ins after 8pm are subject to a €50 fee to cover the cost of paying someone to meet you. Check-ins cannot be before 9.30am. Standard check-out is before 10am on the day of departure. If you're arriving into Dublin very early in the morning or departing late in the day, please consider the 3pm check-in time/10am check-out time before booking. Unfortunately, there is no luggage storage facility in the building. For those who need to store luggage before check-in or after check-out, I recommend Tourist Office Dublin (almost directly opp. the Front Gate of Trinity College Dublin at 37 College Green, Dublin 2, which is a 2 minute walk from the apartment). They'll store luggage here in a secure lock-up for a small fee. Please also consider that this apartment is in the very heart of Dublin City. Genuinely, its location can't be exaggerated - you won't find a better located listing on Airbnb. There are hundreds of positives to this, but there a couple of negatives too: for one, there is no parking in the building (but if you're likely to need parking, let me know and I'll tell you the various options). Also, you have to expect that such a central location won't be exactly tranquil - there'll be the usual 'sounds of the city' and there's nothing anyone can do about it, I'm afraid! If this is likely to be an issue for you, let's talk about it before you book.

Great location for Family

This apartment is in a great location central to everything you would want to do in Dublin. We walked to the Guinness Storhouse, Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral, etc. everything was right there. Inside was very clean and had everything we needed. As others have said it is noisy outside the apartment, but we were able to sleep for sure. The host commented everything thoroughly prior to check in so everything was perfect and we easily got in when we arrived. Highly recommend this place for a stay in Dublin!Cheers!

Fantastic City Center Stay in Dublin

We had a wonderful stay at this city center apartment! From the start, communication with the host was excellent—friendly, responsive, and helpful every step of the way. The accommodations themselves were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location truly can’t be beat—right in the heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar area with incredible access to restaurants, shops, and historic sites, all just steps away. Being able to walk everywhere made exploring the city so easy and enjoyable. As expected with such a prime location, there was some street noise at night from the busy area, but it’s a fair trade-off for being in the center of all the action. Overall, this apartment was a perfect home base for our Dublin adventure, and we would absolutely stay here again!

Perfect location in Dublin Center City!

The property is exactly as pictured and the owner is great to work with. He proactively reached out to us to arrange for check in prior to our departure from home and was easy to communicate with when our arrival ran late. The unit is, clean, well supplied and "kitchy" as would be expected in an older building. It has all of the necessities and is in walking distance to all that Dublin has to offer. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful place in Temple Bar

Thank you so much Garrett for this amazing experience. We were in the heart of all of the action, staying above a local shop. We were able to cook eggs for breakfast, sleep in separate bedrooms, eat together at the table, lounge on the couch - and the best part was the people watching and convenient location. Walking distance from so many fun things. Highly recommended!

Loud and basic

The photos are accurate but can’t express the noise factor of the location. It’s loud all night with revelers, ambulances and construction. This was to be expected being so close to the Temple bar neighborhood, but made more intense as we needed the windows open for air as we experienced an unusual heat spell and there’s no AC. There were 2 fans that helped immensely. Beds were hard and pillows not the best. The living area was fine and the coffee provided was excellent. Location is great for getting around on foot, just bring ear plugs!

Wonderful Location, Great Accommodations!

We had a wonderful stay at Garrett's place for 3 nights! The apartment is in a fantastic location, right near the best restaurants in Temple Bar, and everything (including Grafton Street) is within walking distance. Check-in was super easy, communication with Garrett was great, and we had everything we needed during our stay. We'd highly recommend this location to anyone regardless of how long the stay - we hope to come back soon!

Excellent location with plenty of space!

The apartment location allowed us to explore Dublin on foot. We were able to walk to almost everything on our list, taking in the neighborhoods and parks as we went. The accommodations also provided enough room for a family of introverts (parents and teenagers) to find their own space when needed.

3 days in Dublin

We stayed 3 days, which was a quick visit, but I promise this location was PERFECT! We walked just about everywhere and saw as much as we could in the allotted time. The neighborhood is a little loud, but that is to be expected in a city apartment. Would definitely stay again if we are in Dublin.

A week in Dublin

Summary: we enjoyed our stay, the location and accommodations. I would recommend this apartment to anyone considering staying here. Read below for some further details. The Good- Garrett was very proactive with his communication leading up to the trip and extremely responsive to any questions I had. - location, location, location… everything you could want or need is within walking distance. Food, drinks, shops, convenient stores, they are all within 5-10 minutes walking distance. - As described, there is a washer/ dryer in the apartment… that is golden….- Apartment is clean, well stocked and has everything you would need to call a home base for a week. Things to consider:- The elevator broke 4 out of 5 days we were here. If you are unable to do stairs, consider that could be your only alternative to get to the room for days at a time…- There is no AC in the apartment. While here in early May, temps were in the 40’ F (4’ c) in the morning/ evening and 60’ F (16’ c) at the hottest time of the day. That said, the apartment got warm during the day even with all shades drawn. It did cool down by late evening hours. Opening windows would help, but no screens to keep unwanted guests out (birds, bugs, etc…)- Saturday night was live music night and they went on until 10pm.- The windows are per the era of the building (nothing wrong with that); but that comes with the understanding these are single pane windows with wooden frames, so you hear everything outside.

Perfect Location

We could not have loved this little apartment more. It was perfectly located within walking distance of everything we wanted to visit. We ate twice at the lovely Italian place located just below the apartment; the Queen of Tarts, right next to the apartment entrance, was delicious for desserts and tea, and it also made a perfect reference point for our taxis (which was handy!). The views were very nice also. Garrett was easy to work with and has created helpful guides for various local attractions. Highly recommended.

Great location but a bit dingy

This flat was serviceable and we were comfortable. Good central location to lots of sites. Directly across the street from Dublin Castle. We were a bit surprised at how dingy the place was though, which does not come through in the adorable pictures. The wood floors very worn, the bedroom carpet is threadbare, and the kitchen counters are wood and have a sticky residue. That said, bathroom was clean and bedding was clean. We were comfortable enough but would likely look for a newer, nicer place next time.

Unbearable Heat - Great Location

The weather in Ireland during our stay - 18 degrees and partly sunny - was uncharacteristic for the season however the apartment was well over 100 degrees during the day and cooled at night to a steamy 90. We had to change in the hall at times where it was 75. There was a small desk fan and semi working larger fan provided but these were inadequate to say the least . Not one window opened to allow any fresh air in. There was no way to cool the place down to something sensible and tolerable. The decor looked stylish and contemporary in the photos but was old and worn. The apartment was clean and had a great location but we were unable to rest at night after a busy day because of the overwhelming heat and the lack of fresh air circulation. I would not recommend the apartment unless some changes are made to create a viable HVAC capability of the apartments interior temperatures. You must be able to heat it up and cool it down depending on your needs and this could not be done.

Great location yet ....

Flat is very small. Double bed was a fouton and killed my back. Also had to wait to get in because maids locked a lock they shouldn't have locked. Waited for over an hour in the hallway for owner to let us in. Couldn't ask for better location though.

A native Dubliner back living in Dublin after stints in New York, London and the West of Ireland. Fond of travelling but always happy to get back to Dublin. The apartment I have listed is right in the very centre of Dublin City - very genuinely, it couldn't be any more central; the centre of the centre, if you like.
