About this property

The Orangery, Snettisham, Norfolk

The Orangery, a rather unique place to stay, is set within the grounds of the Grade II Listed Snettisham House. The two bedroom house is luxurious and beautifully furnished, with an enclosed garden, and ten minutes' walk to the local pub and shops. The King's residence at Sandringham is just a ten minute drive away.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the coast at this peaceful, rural retreat just a short drive away - a super little spot for a romantic getaway or equally perfect for a family. In keeping with an Orangery, the detached cottage has been tastefully decorated encompassing a botanical theme with rooms benefiting from full height sash windows overlooking the south facing garden. With calm neutral colours and cosy textures of beautiful wool throws and sheepskin rugs, you may feel tempted to just stay in during the Winter. In the Summer, you can relax in the secluded garden and enjoy a barbecue and a glass or two of wine! Why not venture along one of the many pretty walks or cycle rides from the cottage and be amazed at the deer grazing so close to this tranquil spot.

The luxurious accommodation for four people is on one level and has a beautifully furnished sitting room with vaulted ceiling - just the place to relax after a busy day exploring the stunning North Norfolk coastline. The kitchen is well equipped, children are looked after with their own crockery, high chair and bed rail (upon request) and enclosed garden with lawn and gravel areas.

Perfectly located to explore the coast either to RSPB Snettisham or a day out on one of the many beaches nearby. If sailing is your passion, then Snettisham has a very active sailing club. Guests can either take a ten minute stroll to the popular Rose & crown gastro pub and village shops or walk to Snettisham Park farm which is just a stone's throw away. A bit further afield is HM The King's residence at Sandringham House - only a ten minute drive away.

The Cottage really is perfect for families, walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, artists or just those wanting to escape to a peaceful retreat.

Wonderful cottage

We recently stayed 3 nights at Orangery with our 2 grandchildren. The accommodation was spotlessly clean beautifully presented and very well equipped especially the kitchen. We enjoyed the garden. I feel the accommodation is perfect for couple or small family but would be a bit of a squeeze for 4 adults as 2nd bedroom is small. We hope to come back for longer next year.

Wonderful stay

The Orangery is the perfect place to stay. We have been to North Norfolk many times and this was certainly the best place we have stayed. Greeted with homemade bread, cakes with a bottle of wine. The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped above and beyond, beds very comfy . It was always warm when we arrived back from a day out and plenty of hot water. We look forward to returning.

Excellent stay

From the moment we walked in we felt at home. Beautifully furnished, comfortable and very clean. Loved the welcome pack and as many before us have commented, The Lemon Drizzle cake!!!!! Our stay was when we had storm Eunice with gale force winds and the owners even thought to bring us a battery lantern in case of a power cut. Would definitely love to stay again and highly recommend.

Peaceful Getaway

The Orangery is a great place to stay, ideally situated for visits to Sandringham, the coast and the hidden gems of Norfolk. A lovely welcome basket was provided which was unexpected, the lemon drizzle cake was the best we’ve ever tasted. Would definitely recommend a holiday here.

Lovely cosy peaceful cottage

We loved our stay at the Orangery, an immaculate cottage with every home comfort. So cosy we looked forward to going back every evening. Also such wonderful attention to detail, we went over Halloween and there was a pumpkin, witches hat and broom which our daughter was thrilled with! Arrived to a welcome basket including home baking which really was the icing on the cake. Lovely well maintained cottage in a peaceful location, not far from the coast, we had a great week, and couldn’t recommend the cottage more

Would have thought the review was sufficient

The second bedroom was really only large enough to be classed as a single. In some instances modern design replaced functionality for appearance sake e.g. basin tap in bathroom could not be used with a low flow rate without the water flowing onto the back of the basin, the conical kettle allowed the hand to be in steam when pouring & if tipped too far the only escape route for the steam is via the spout causing boiling water to spurt out of the spout. The shower temperature was set too low for an adult, resulting in a tepid shower. On the plus side the surrounding were quiet with easy walking access to the village, the welcome basket was a pleasant surprise. The negatives are relatively minor although the kettle really is unsuitable for use by a child.

Wonderful week at The Orangery

Our stay at the Orangery got off to a lovely start when we arrived to find freshly baked bread, cake and biscuits and a bottle of wine waiting for us. Our kids are 3 and 7 and they loved playing with all the toys. We were lucky enough to be able to eat in garden a few nights, and the outdoor jenga and other games were lot of fun. The kitchen was so well equipped, we had all we needed to cook everything from roast dinner to BBQ. This is the nicest holiday house we have ever stayed in as a family, and the location in superb. I would highly recommend the nearby Rose & Crown pub, the food there was delicious. We shopped at the Lidl just down the road in Heacham, great value and big selection. We enjoyed our time in Norfolk for the wonderful wide beaches. We visited Holkam Hall and went on the Holt Steam Railway. Also, the Thursford Steam Museum is great for a rainy day. All in all, a fantastic holiday. Thank you so much!

A week of relaxation at the Orangery

This place has everything that you could ever need to enjoy your getaway. The accommodation has everything. Great walks from the door, go and pick blackberries and apples from the many hedgerows. Nearby pubs - quality. Coast minutes away. Great beaches. Wildlife. The kitchen is amazing. Lovely home cooked treats on arrival. A truly wonderful week in the Orangery.

Brilliant Stay!

So comfortable and well equipped. We had a really enjoyable relaxing week in the Orangery. Clean, bright, modern, warm, welcoming (especially the delicious basket of homemade goodies) in peaceful countryside and yet a pleasant stroll into the village for pubs restaurant and Co-op! Sadly the weather did not allow us to take the cover off the barbecue but hopefully next time!

Lovely place

We had a lovely Easter weekend at the Orangery. The property is lovely with a great location, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Thought if everything

The only fault with property and it is a personal thing is it could do with blinds or curtains up at the two external glass doors .

A beautiful little gem

The Orangery was perfect for us in every way. We went as a couple with our 2 and a half year old child. It's all on one level, has an enclosed garden, set in a remote location (bliss), but just a short drive away from lots of places. A lovely surprise awaited us when we arrived, a homemade cake, biscuits and a bottle of wine. All delicious! The accommodation is well thought out, finished to a high standard and the kitchen is so well equipped. We were so lucky to be there in beautiful weather. Once little one was asleep we sat out in the garden listening to nothing but sheep and birds whilst having a few glasses of wine. None of us wanted to go home, and we'll definitely return.
