The house was perfect for my family and grandson. Great location, wonderful screened porch, comfortable living areas and bedrooms. I would definitely stay here again.
I can't think of a better place to stay for new years at the beach! The house has a great layout and porch, plus the house is very close to the ocean. I would definitely book again!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Edisto Beach house! The location couldn't be better—just a short walk to the beach, making it incredibly convenient for those daily trips to the shore. The house itself is spacious and well laid out, allowing for plenty of family time in the common areas while also offering private spaces to retreat to when you need some quiet time.
One of our favorite spots was the back screened-in porch—perfect for morning coffee or evening relaxation without worrying about bugs. The large family dinner table, surrounded by bookshelves, was another highlight. It was the perfect setting for gathering everyone for meals and enjoying games, stories, and laughter, with plenty of books for those quieter moments.
The kitchen was nicely furnished with all the necessary items to prepare meals, making it easy to enjoy family dinners together.
Overall, this house had everything we needed for a memorable and relaxing beach vacation. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
Overall the house is fine. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, great porch, lots of books and games and close to beach. Cleanliness was ok but coffee pot was dirty and there were grounds in it. Previous renter left clothes in drawers. Had a broken shower head but owner fixed right away. Bad problem with carpenter ants in top bedroom but owner is addressing. Overall a pretty nice week.
This was our 2nd stay and we’ve decided we don’t want to stay anywhere else! Location is perfect with the beach right across the street. House has plenty of space and feels homey and cozy. We love the porch to relax and have dinner on breezy evenings. Owner is easy to get in touch with and very responsive. It does have a lot of stairs but we didn’t find that to be a deterrent, just something to be aware of. We will absolutely stay again!
The property is as advertised. However, as previous reviewers have pointed out, there are a lot of steps and staircases in this unit and if you have bad/weak knees or legs you probably need to look for something else. I managed and had a perfectly enjoyable time. There is plenty of room and the screened in porch provides a pleasant coffee niche in the mornings and keeps the bugs away. I would highly recommend this unit, especially for larger groups with children.
Lovely property, and well equipped. Lots of room to spread out indoors and onto the porches. The yard and overlook from the screened-in porch is lovely. Much provided by owners and past guests. Close to the beach, shopping, amenity.
HOWEVER:
Big HINT: Use the downstairs outside shower and don't waste your time trying to shower in the fourth floor bath...not enough water pressure to get you clean. A lot of steps for this house. If anyone is aged or has difficulty climbing stairs, look elsewhere. If that's not an issue, definitely consider this place. Lovely, quiet place.
We rented this house for a month during July/August. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Nice home, great location, and spacious porch that was the favorite part of the house!! This home has many levels and steps - if there is a member of your party that would have problems climbing stairs this is good to know. Home has nice cookware, dishes, glasses and baking dishes. Could use additional silverware, especially if serving a large number of people. This is an older home that is comfortable but needs some "refreshing"! Bathroom water pressure (especially in the upstairs bedroom shower) needs to be addressed as well as missing stoppers in downstairs sinks. The tubs drained very slowly causing water to back up during showers. Humidity issues on very hot and humid days caused moisture drips from the kitchen ceiling but we did address owner with this problem. We did have some "insect visitors" which is probably normal for SC in the summer. House WAS serviced by pest control on the OUTSIDE! There were positives and negatives but as said we had a good stay in a great location! Also, forgot to mention that communication with owner was very good!

Beware of Infestation of Carpenter Ants and Extensive Amount of Stairs
Unless you are an athletic person, and accustomed to living with bugs crawling all over you, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE.
This vacation was to help my family heal from losing my husband only 2 months before this trip. We had just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Instead, it was as if I were in a horror movie.
The owner confessed to me he had been battling carpenter ants for two weeks in the home, prior to our arrival. I was NOT MADE AWARE. I only wish I have a way to share the videos I took of what happened. As soon as any light was cut on, the giant ants SWARMED.
After my ordeal the owner agreed I was due to some compensation for what we endured. We checked out July 7. I have only heard from him about a missing key which I never saw.
The home was lovely until darkness, when the armies of flying ants, which crazily came out of every crack and crevice in this house began to come out of hiding. It was unlike anything I have ever had to endure.
The property manager came one morning after I complained and tried to caulk around the upstairs window frames and the walls in the tall tower which the ants poured out of. He even tried to tape together wood cracks in the hallway. These ants are multiying in the structure of the home.
I am 68, and arthritic. I was ill advised, not fully informed of the extensively steep stairs inside and outside of this home. Even my teenagers were exhausted from the daily grind of them.
Great location, plenty of room but w room for improvements
This house was roomy and super close to the beach in a nice neighborhood. I chose it in part due to the screen porch, but in Feb-March it was too chilly most days and there is never any sun on it which was a surprise and a bummer, plus all the furniture there was dreadfully uncomfortable.
The beach is gorgeous and very sparsely populated, it was a dream. In the off season even our pup was allowed off leash and she loved chasing the birds. Just a very quick walk to the beach, we enjoyed daily trips there and the beach was wide and beautiful. Good shelling and beachcombing too.
Some areas of improvement are needed, most importantly being the cleanliness... it was not great. Upon arrival I had to clean the kitchen countertops, the frig, and the bathrooms to feel comfortable. It doesn't seem to be a house thats well taken care of. Furnishings are hodge podge, beds not great, much of the furniture was old and uncomfortable.
Lots and lots of stairs which would be a problem for many.
In general we had a good stay and with off season rates we got what we paid for but probably would not return to this house or to Edisto Island. We found the remoteness of the island and lack of things to do in Feb-March to be not ideal, and the house was just ok. Definitely some room for improvements in the house but the beach and the distance from it balanced it all out.
Communication, excellent. Facilities, lovely. Some problems with maintenance, grounds (palmetto fronds not cleared after storm - noticeable as neighbors have), cleanliness (dust, rings in 1 toilet, unintended personal left behinds from other tenants, area rugs curling, Palmetto bugs, ) still didn't keep us from loving the screened porch and appreciating owners flexibility for comfortable temperature control for us individually. All in all we ignored the problems and loved our stay. Yes, we'd come back.
Great location, short walk to beach. This house had plenty of rooms and beds for our family group. There are a lot of steps, so be prepared! Screened in porch was nice for coffee in the mornings. Gas grill wasn't working; told owner and it should be replaced soon. Outside shower had no water, texted owner. We were a little disappointed with no outdoor shower for our stay. Bathrooms could use some updating, but were fine. There was no dresser in the downstairs master - definitely could use one. We loved all the books in the den. And the kids enjoyed the Uno cards and Monopoly game.
The house located just a short walk from beach access 6 was exactly what we needed for our annual end of summer beach vacation! The house had everything we needed and Micheal was a very attentive host. One note; you should have the ability to climb numerous stairs every day, you will become the stair master of this 4 story wonder!!
we had a great stay at this property. plenty of room for privacy, big kitchen makes for easy meals at home, the beach is just across the street. especially loved the screened in porch in the evenings.
as noted in previous reviews, there are A LOT of stairs. this wasn’t a problem for us but could be for very young children and the elderly.
Great property, closer to the beach than what we originally thought, like 200 yards. Absolutely loved Edisto, warm water, a few cool eating and shopping spots. The only negative I would say is if you're not used to humidity this might not be the spot for you.
Everything was easy and convenient to the beach. We loved the screened porch!
Only one suggestion- update knives! There were only a few and they wouldn’t cut butter!
Beds were very comfortable. All had a great time! Thanks

About the host
Hosted by Michael Sgobbo
Our family purchased this house in April of 2021. We live full time in Charleston, SC and love the Edisto Beach area. We hope you enjoy your stay at our beach house.
Why they chose this property
This family beach home has never been on the rental market, until now. Edisto is a magical place that we love to visit. This house is great for entertaining and being close to the beach.
What makes this property unique
The house has a great porch with ocean breezes. You also have a great view of the ocean from many rooms in the house. It is a very short walk to the beach.
