The Lazio region: The Lazio region, birthplace of two of mankind’s greatest institutions, the Roman Empire and the Catholic Church, is dominated and largely defined by its capital, Rome. Since ancient Roman times the region has been an extension of the city, where noble Roman families created their own towns and the wealthy built their villas in the surrounding countryside. Lazio is a treasure trove of the remains of age old civilizations: bridges, churches, towers, villas, monasteries, aqueducts, arches — the list is endless. To the north of Rome are Etruscan sites and the tombs of Tarquinia, founded in the 12th century BC. The ruins of Ostia Antica, a 4th century BC port city at the mouth of the Tiber are located west of the city, with delightful beaches nearby. East of Rome toward the mountains is Tivoli, a favourite retreat for the wealthy at the height of the Roman Empire. Visit the remains of Hadrian’s Villa, completed in 134 AD, and the beautiful fountains and gardens of the Villa d’Este.

Our host was very welcoming and acclimated us to the property, the neighborhood, and transportation. He provided maps and recommendations for a nearby pizzeria that was fantastic. The location was very walkable to the must see sights in Rome and the apartment was very clean and had the most important items that we needed to keep our family comfortable along the way. Great stay, I highly recommend!

Great Apartment close to Coluseum

Had a wonderful stay at the Green Apartments. Was met on arrival and went over everything we needed to know about getting around in Rome and how to shorten up time in lines. If there was any down side the bed was extremely hard but our stay was wonderful.

Rome apartment

We spent a busy and fascinating week in the city. The apartment was well situated within walking distance of sights and shops and restaurants. We found the buses convenient and the metro was also handy. The apartment was quiet and clean and modern inside. The shared patio was a bonus. The owner was very friendly and provided lots of useful informatiion.

Host is super!

The host was a really nice man and made sure to come and meet us and give us some great ideas to make our stay even better! Little things were a bit of a miss and I am a bit picky so bear with me. The place needs a woman’s touch. When we arrived there was no hand soap in the bathroom, no paper towel, napkins, and only 1 soap pod for the washing Also there needs to be a new set of knives, and the wine opener was broken. Again these are little things. But as a woman I find them important. The hosts personality made up for this. The place needed to be cleaned a little better but other than these things it was pleasent. Just a few things would have made all the difference.

Great location for Sightseeing

What can I say!! Lovely apartment, perfect location, clean and a great reception from Andrea. Andrea's recommendations for local eating and drinking were top class. Good local food and wine which were not overpriced. I would recommend the Green apartments for a great city centre location, due its position it provides a quiet and tranquil setting. Thank you Andrea for a great stay and the next time we come to Roma we will definately stay at the Green apartments.

Great location.

Clean, comfortable beads, affordable, in a great location. We stayed 4 nights, a family of 3. Cooked almost all our meals there (breakfast and dinner). The Grocery store, transportation ticket store, bus stop, all where just crossing the street. We walked almost every day everywhere!! Just a few blocks from the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, Capitol Hill to one side….the Baths of Caracara on the other side…what a great time in Rome!! Communication with owner was easy and immediate. And the A/C worked any time we needed it. Thank you Andrea!

My husband, I and two friends recently stayed at the Green Apartments Coloseo Foro Romano and had the time of our lives! The apartment was super clean, quite and comfortable. Easy access to buses and trains. I would recommend this apartment to any and all of my friends and family.!! Super job to The Staff of the Green Apartment and a wonderful place to visit!! "Roma"!!!

A Haven in Rome

We spent a wonderful 8 days in this great apartment. The host Andrea and his assistant Maria were very friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful with following up on lost luggage. Our apartment was very comfortable, clean and very well furnished and equipped . The courtyard was a delight, the location was really good, near the Colloseum and lots of shops, public transport and a supermarket nearby. We could easily get to all the places we wished to visit walking or using the bus or train. We would recommend this apartment to any couple or small family and will stay there next time we visit Rome Thankyou Andrea and Maria Catherine Watmough

Pleasant & Very Reasonale Rome Hide-Away

What a pleasant surprise we had being met by Andrea upon our arrival in Rome to the Green Apartments. His personal touch in welcoming his guests and the bountiful information and maps he supplies are truly a bonus to the clean and well located apartments. He even took the time to walk us to a local site as well as showing where local restaurants, shops & transportation were located. This courtyard apartment is located a short walk from the Coliseum & Forum as well as the Metro & Bus lines. The Gelato just around the corner is not to be missed & morning coffee and evening wine on the pleasant patio are a must. We would definitely rent here again and will recommend to our friends.

Great stay at the Green Apartments!!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Green Apartments. Our apartment was very clean, conveniently located, and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the terrace in the evening - what a great place for a glass of wine at the end of the day. It was nice to have the option of a/c after walking around Rome most of the day. The apartment was close to the Metro and there were markets close by. Andrea has prepared a great map to share with his clients. We used it all over Rome. The recommended restaurants that we tried were very good. Andrea met us at the apartment and took plenty of time to explain how the appliances worked and getting around. We would definitely stay here again!! Thanks, Andrea!!

Absolutely The Best!

We stayed at the Green Apartments from 19 October to 29 October. We were in #4 which has a great view of a major historical site from the living room. It was very clean and nicely appointed. It was also very quiet! We heard no city traffic or apartment noises. It was great! Our host Andrea was gracious and very friendly. He gave us a tour of the apartment and an explanation of things to do and places to see in Rome. Very Helpful! He even arranged a wheel chair for my wife's use and we were very happy with our dealings with him. The apartment was cleaned every day by a very nice lady, Maybel. We highly recommend the Green Apartments. I would definitely recommend staying there when you visit Rome.

Best VRBO experience ever!

I have stayed at many VRBO properties, but this was by far the best experience I have ever had. The location was perfect and accessible to so many sites including the Colosseum which was right down the street. Access to all public transportation was on the main street which took us to all the main attractions including some further away like Vatican City. The photos are perfect and accurately reflect the property. The best part is that the apartments are tucked away in a quiet area away from the main street so getting a good night's sleep was not a problem. The apartments have all of the Italian old world charm but everything inside is new and upgraded so you get the best of both worlds. The terrace outside was an added bonus. The owner Andrea was amazing and greeted us with a big smile and all of the information that anyone would need to have an enjoyable trip. He was available during out stay as well, and responded to phone calls and emails immediately. It was like having a concierge. He even suggested we go to Sperlonga for a day trip and his recommendation could not have been better. I loved it so much that I am going to post the link on my Facebook page as a suggestion to all of my friends. We highly recommend Isodoro which is a neighborhood restaurant. The seafood is outstanding and you get an excellent dinner for a great value. We can't wait to return to Rome so we can stay at The Green Apartments again!!! Thank you Andrea!!!

Excellent location, great staff, spotless apartment- the best!

Deciding to stay at the Green Apartments was probably the best decision I made when planning our Italy trip. We stayed in apartment 4, which is a one bedroom and has a little peak of the Coliseum. The apartment was spotless, spacious, had invaluable air-conditioning (since there was a heat wave while we were there), had everything you need to cook a meal and is also super quiet. The apartments are in a great location, about 7 minutes walk from the Coliseum and Forum and about a 15 minute walk from the “Wedding Cake” and other sights of Rome. You could easily walk everywhere but the metro and bus are close by and easy to use. Andrea is great! He is easy to communicate with and will answer all of you questions promptly. He was waiting outside for us when we arrived and gave us a great map and the best tips! (Do follow his advice and go to Luzzi’s and Panelle. Also on Via Merulana there is a little shop, Pasta All’ Uovo and they have the friendliest staff there to help you with cheeses, olive oils, cured meats, etc). Maria, the woman who keeps things tidy, is SO nice and even kept us informed about things like transportation strikes (which Italy has a lot of, fyi). I have been telling everyone I know and now I’m telling you-- look no further and book your stay at the Green Apartments! Thank you Andrea and Maria!

Perfect Basic European Apartment in the Heart of the City

We rented two of the 1-bedroom apartments for a three day stay. Overall very clean, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, fasts Wi-fi and conveniently located on train and bus routes or walking distance to several sites. A few things: because we were there in February, the apartments were very cold. One apartment had been pre-heated but the other had not and didn't really warm up throughout our stay. This had to do with the fact that we left the heat on when we headed out for the day (trying to warm the apartment up) and the cleaning lady turned it down. One of the apartments had a very poor operating shower head where half of the water ran down the wall rather than through the head. Additionally, in this same shower, the hot water fluctuated from a perfect hot temperature to barely warm every 30-45 second. Almost like a pulsing. Finally, bath towels were very, very thin and didn't do the best job drying you off. However, the owner is incredibly helpful and helped us arrange transportation late at night, had perfect suggestions for dining, sites to see, helpful tips for transportation, hours of operation and where we could find needed item. We definitely recommend these apartments!

it does what it says on the tin!

This was my first and definitely not last visit to Italy, much due to the fact the location is good and the apartment was clean, fresh, quiet (immensly so being in the heart of Rome!) and in very easy location to all the major sites of Rome. Not to mention the restaurants!! We were a 10 minute walk from the Colloseum and about 15 minutes from the Termini train station, so just on the edge of the city centre. We never once used the underground or buses - we walked everywhere. Value for money this hand down beats any hotel like for like. We had a sun drenched terrace, daily cleaner who changed linen and towels if you stayed more than 4 days, efficient air conditioning unit, modern bathroom (equipped with hairdryer!) and a modern kitchen with all essentials including fridge/freezer (to help keep our lovely Italian wine and parma ham nicely chilled) ;) I also need to say Andrea especially but also his colleague Ercole turned out to be what we referred to as "our gurus". Not only did they give us excellent tips for restaurants off the beaten tourist tracks to dine out in for that special occasion, but they also pulled out the stops for my family by arranging airport transfers for them when they were not even staying at Green apartments - a huge warmfelt thanks! Don't hesitate in booking one of the apartments but equally don't think this is a lofty, LED lit, flatscreen telly flat with a spa and roomservice... it is what it is - an clean, fresh, comfortable apartment on the outskirts of central Rome. My other half and I would definitely recommend this place without hesitation and if ever in Rome again we will be contacting Andrea for sure! Grazie Mille.

The Perfect Place to Stay

I regret not writing a review on our return last May but various things got in my way so better late then never! This apartment was the perfect place for our weeks stay in Rome. It was very authentic, situated in a mainly residential area that was peaceful but just a 3 minute walk to the Colosseum. Andrea was not available to meet us but Ercole was a perfect stand in who gave us many useful tips regarding restaurants, bars, places to go etc. We locked ourselves out of the apartment on the first evening and had to call Ercole to let us back in. We felt very foolish but he was extremely gracious despite having to travel a good distance to come to our aid. Thank you! There was an unseasonable heatwave during our stay and we were so grateful for the air-conditioning in the bedroom. We were leaving the apartment at 7.30am to try and beat the heat and crowds and we would return in the afternoon to cool off. The terrace was a wonderful place to sit in the evenings and enjoy a glass of wine. It was very peaceful and relaxing and the perfect place to chat to other residents - we swapped tales with 2 American couples, an Australian family and a family from Switzerland. We often had the terrace to ourselves though where we sat late at night listening to the occasional baby cry and the strains of a trombone playing wafting away on the evening breeze. The servicing of the apartment was an unexpected, but welcome bonus, with beds made and washing up done. Many people say you should stay in a more central location but we found this apartment to be within easy walking distance of most sights. We took the Hop On Hop Off bus to visit the Borghese Park and the Metro to visit the Vatican, but other than that we walked everywhere. We would definitely stay here again on any future trips to Rome.

Long overdue review

Andrea, My sincerest apologies that this review was not posted sooner... a miscommunication between me, my computer and Tiger OS X... once I discovered the mistake I had to send this your way immediately. My wife , daughter and I stayed at your apartment last year. your reservation process was perfect and once you were aware of my family's needs you offered a larger apartment in your building. I don't doubt we would have made the original place work but the larger apartment with a nice kitchen and more room made the experience even better. Thank you for that recommendation. You were so kind to meet us upon our arrival, not to mention arranging our transport from the airport. It really got our trip off to a good start! Your recommendations for what to do and what not to bother with were spot on. It's not easy to experience Rome in the internet age and your guiding hand went a long way toward ensuring my family's great experience. The apartment itself was quite comfortable and even though it was a little early in the year we enjoyed using it as our base of operations. It was not our first time in Rome but we had not quite experienced the Coliseum area on our previous trips. I might say that it is now our favorite part of town. I'm not sure there is a more Roman section of town! obviously we could do the normal tourist things like the Vatican and the Pantheon but were it not for staying so close, we never would have gone to the Borgia Gallery and exploring the multi-level streets of shops and restaurants nearby was a special treat. (Good luck catching the 87 bus, though... It became the joke of our trip! Every time we were waiting to go westbound, it would go by eastbound and vice versa) I could go on and on but you get the idea. Again, I am SO sorry this review didn't come in until now! Be assured it was due to my ineptitude and nothing else. Your service was beyond compare and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone that they stay at your apartment. Gracie! Jeff S. Steps away from the colessium

We had a wonderful stay with Andrea! Our arrival at the airport was seamless as Andrea had a taxi driver ready to immediately pick us up and take us to his apartments. This was a relief after a long day of traveling. We received a bit of a tour on the way which was wonderful. Then, Andrea met us at his apartment and gave us a warm welcome and full review (with a map) of all his recommended sites and restaurants to visit. Take his recommendation when he tells you to visit the Vatican first thing in the morning...it was a madhouse later in the day. Throughout the stay our apartment was spotless and cleaned everyday by Maria, who was wonderful and friendly. The apartments had all the amenities you could need, including just being steps away from the Colessium. One of the apartments even has a washing machine, which was wonderful with a baby. Andrea was also kind enough to sit out a pack n' play crib and high chair for our use. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet. More residential and away from the louder areas which was nice in the evening to come home to after a long day of touring. It is also conveniently located right next to a bus stop (if needed), grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, and multiple pastry shops. There's a beautiful court yard just outside the apartments, which was nice to enjoy on a sunny day. I would absolutely stay here again. I believe it was a rare find in Rome to have such a convenient, well-kept, and quiet location with all of these amenities. The only critique I would have is the mattress could be a little bit softer. One of them was rather hard, but we still slept good after a long day of walking. Andrea checked in on our stay multiple times and assured our stay was going well. If you want a special place to stay, this is it! You will not regret it! We will be back if when we visit Rome again!

Perfect location and great apartment!

I had just one day to be a tourist in Rome and wanted to be close to the Coliseum with easy access to public transportation. This clean, modern apartment was perfect - from the safety and comfort of the apartment to the location and the help of Andrea. My arrival time changed several times and Andrea was patient and flexible. This is a great place to stay no matter what you'll be doing in Rome!

Great place and location, but poor wifi

My teenage children and enjoyed being in this location, very central to everything, including Rome central station. The apartment was clean and very pretty, also liked staying here. Andrea and Maria were great host, helping when they could. The only issue I have of this place was wifi! It is very poor and need to be upgrade either by change of server, like telecoms and or modem for DSL high speed. Otherwise I recommend this place to all!
