A warm welcome to La Perla del Mar, our family run and personally maintained coastal penthouse, a stones throw from the unspoilt El Penoncillo beach, a superb home from home and the ideal place to enjoy a laid back Andalucian beach holiday whilst the more bustling neighbouring resort of Nerja is just a 5 minute drive away. Individually furnished, La Perla is the perfect place to unwind; relax overlooking the Med' on your own private wrap around terrace which has an al fresco dining suite for 6, gas BBQ and (2) sunloungers, or spend time chilling at the pool where a lawned sunbathing area with mediterranean style lawned gardens also overlooks the sea and mountains to the East. Penoncillo beach is just opposite at an approx 250m stroll away, where there are some superb beach chiringuitos/ restaurants serving BBQ'd fish and typical Andalucian dishes, fresh and reasonably priced. There is a local tapa bar and cafeteria and a few minutes further brings you to the promenade at Torrox costa itself with a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes and a beautiful blue flag beach.

There is a local bus service (bus stop nearby) there are also usually plenty of taxis...this is an ideal base for exploring further afield; the white villages of Frigiliana and Torrox pueblo, Nerja caves and Maro, Torre del Mar and Malaga, Granada, Ronda and Cordoba all within reach for the more adventurous!

The property is always comprehensively cleaned between bookings, we are now introducing a 2nd stage disinfectant clean before each new arrival. Cleaning products including bleach will also be at the disposal of our clients for their own use if required.


No contact check in procedure:
This has always been our policy in order to respect our guests privacy, but will be even more relevant from now on, we would therefore like to reassure our guests that keys will continue to be made available for self check in.

For COUPLES RATES June - September . The online booking system is programmed to provide you with an immediately discounted rate so please fill in the online booking form stating the dates you would like to stay and entering 2 persons, you will then receive the reduced quote. Please note: Dates must fall between September to the following June. . For parties of more than 2 persons Sept to June please add 5 pounds per additional person per night .If you are unsure please send an enquiry for an up to date quote

July and August rates apply to a maximum of 6 guests at any one time.

Long Winter stays for 2 persons commence with a 30% discount which you should find is automatically applied when you fill in the online reservation request, or please send us a message.

Highly Recommend
We had an amazing stay start to finish. Sue was so helpful with all the information and it really felt like a home away from home.Thee view is just amazing and it was great having restaurants and bars at the beach at the end of the road without being surrounded by concrete in the middle of town. The size of the terrace is just fabulous and we spent most of our time there. The only downside is that we were there for just a week!

Home from home
Wonderful holiday in a super location. Stress free check in, all information required was available. Property enjoys a fabulous view over the nearby beach and sea from it's substantial terrace. We spent many happy hours relaxing and enjoying the ever changing views. There was everything provided that you might need in this well equipped accommodation. We were very much at home during our 4 weeks stay and used it as a great base to explore the surrounding, wonderful, real Spain. The welcome pack we were provided with on arrival was unexpected and very generous (thank you). All in all, if you are considering visiting this area, don't hesitate and book this accommodation if its available.

We travel with our family to Torrox de la Costa, the apartment is on a 6th floor but with 2 elevators not a problem to reach to the top. The apartment was very clean and equipped, we really missed nothing there Is not so close to shopping possibilities but just 2 km away with a car not a problem and actually we were very please that it was located away from the down town it was just peaceful. We could walk 300 mts and reach the beach and it was wonderful. The apartment hat some chairs we could use. The contact with Sue was great, she took care during the whole time we were there thanks a lot for that. Definitely a place we will stay again

A stand out property👍
This apartment has to be one of the best we have stayed in in the Torrox/Nerja region. Its in a great location with superb views of the sea from the huge patio area. The apartment itself is immaculate and a truely loved space. Sue and Trevor have invested a lot of time into adding those finishing touches that make this a stand out property. There is nothing more you could ask for. The pool is a good size in well kept grounds but if you prefer the sea and the beach its a 5 minute walk away; as are some fantastic chiringuitos. Sue was always on hand if we needed anything and the welcome pack truly was most welcome when we arrived. We would not hesitate to book this apartment again!

Stunning location and superb apartment
We spent three fabulous weeks here and couldn't have asked for more in terms of quality and location. The apartment has everything you need for self catering however if you want to eat out there's a choice of every type of food within walking distance. The large terrace has fabulous sea views and is well equipped with seating/dining and lounge furniture. We particularly enjoyed a "sundowner" sat in the sheltered BBQ area whilst watching the sun set behind us. The bedrooms are all a good size and the main bedroom has a double aspect of the ocean and the hills. The apartment was spotless and well decorated. Sue and Trev are the most helpful and genial owners who are always happy to answer any questions or give guidance on where to visit. We will definitely be returning!

Loved it!
The apartment (home, really) was amazing! The views were beautiful, the sound of the sea was amazing for falling asleep. Since it's the penthouse you can sleep with the windows open and the bugs don't get in. Everything you could possibly need you can find in the home. It wasn't missing a single detail. The communication with the owner was impeccable and I really can't say enough. We were there for 12 days and it literally felt like home. And the pool is PERFECT! The water temperature was lovely and the pool is enormous! The beach is about a 5 minute (max) walk. We loved it there! I would definitely return! Me ha encantado!!!

A fantastic space in a fantastic space
Sue and Trevor were the consummate excellent hosts. Anything that we needed information on, they responded immediately. The property is ideal. Everything required for cooking is available. We did laundry and hung it out on the terrace to dry. We cooked often and ate out on the terrace viewing the Mediterranean. The view is a zillion dollars! It was our first visit to Spain and I researched areas and VRBOs extensively and we decided on the Penoncillo Beach location. It’s a 5 minute walk down to the beach. There are several restaurants dotted along the way on both sides of the road into Torrox Costa ((It’s a 20minute walk). Nerja is a 8 minute car ride. Torrox Pueblo is 10 minutes away. We loved the food, the weather , the scenery , the people ,the history and especially our hosts Sue and Trevor. We’ll be back!!!!!!

Perfect in every way
Our trip to this property in Torrox was perfect in every way. The apartment was great for my family (two adults and two teenagers) with lots of room for everyone. Having a washing machine is a huge plus for an extended stay. Words do not do the view justice. With the AC Units and the fans provided everyone was cool in 35 degree weather. The complex is well kept and suited for families and older couples. The pool was immaculate. The only consideration is it’s location on top of a hill. At the bottom of that hill is a beach and about 5 good restaurants. A 5 min drive or 20 min walk away is Torrox Costa with amazing beaches and great places to eat. Nerja is another town about 15 mins by taxi away and well worth the trip. Sue and Trevor were excellent to deal with, check in and out were easy and everything was exactly as advertised. We will be returning as soon as we can. If you are looking at this review, book this property!!!

Die Wohnung ist etwas außerhalb der Supermärkte. Einkaufen geht es nur mit Taxi. Das Schwimmbad konnten wir wegen Reparatur nicht benutzen. Duschen mit warmen Wasser selten, da das Wasser kein Druck bis 6. Stock hatte.

Wunderschöne Penthousewohnung in ruhiger Lage (Mietwagen empfehlenswert - nicht zuletzt wegen der vielen Ausflugsmöglichkeiten) mit einem traumhaften Blick auf das Meer …. die keine Wünsche offen lässt … es hat uns an nichts gefehlt und der Kontakt mit der Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und wir wurden mit allen wichtigen Infos bestens versorgt … Herrlicher Pool im Garten … Sandstrand (Einstieg etwas steinig)… sehr gute Restaurants in Fußnähe …. Ein Lob und ein Dankeschön an unsere freundlichen Vermieter, wir kommen sicher im nächsten Jahr wieder :)

Schöner Ausblick und nette Anlage
Die Ferienwohnung liegt ganz oben in einer Wohnanlage mit wunderschönem Ausblick aufs Meer und die Gemeinschaftspoolanlage. Vom Fahrstuhl aus muss man noch eine Treppe hochlaufen. Die Wohnung ist, bis auf das Hauptschlafzimmer, etwas altbacken eingerichtet, es ist jedoch alles da, was man benötigt. Wir waren als Familie mit 4 Pers. da und mit einem Bad war die Größe genau richtig. Die gesamte Anlage ist gepflegt und begrünt. Der Pool ist sehr groß und beheizt, was wir sehr angenehm fanden. In der ersten Woche haben wir den Pool fast alleine genutzt. Auf den Fotos in der Beschreibung kommt die schöne Poolanlage gar nicht richtig zur Geltung. Der Hausmeister kümmert sich jeden Tag darum. Wenn man nicht baden möchte, kann man sich auch außerhalb des eingezäunten Pools in der Anlage auf eine Bank setzen oder unter einen der Sonnenschirme mit Blick aufs Meer liegen. Einen eigenen Parkplatz gibt es leider nicht. Man kann in der Straße vor den Häusern parken. Abends gab es meist wenige und wir mussten ein Stück laufen. Dies mag außerhalb der Ferien aber anders sein. Das Meer mit Restaurants sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Zu den nächsten Supermärkten und Torrox Zentrum braucht man nur wenige Autominuten. Wir hatten vorher in Torrox schon mal in einem Haus oberhalb von Torrox gewohnt und fanden das Penthouse eine gute Alternative. Wir würden wieder hinfahren. Der Kontakt zu den Vermietern Sue und Trevor war sehr gut und nett! Man kann sich jederzeit an sie wenden und sie melden sich schnell zurück. Top!

Home from home on the Costa del Sol
Stayed in this beautiful apartment for 16 days April/May and loved every minute, to waken up to that view and the sound of the sea every morning was amazing !!! The apartment is so well equipped it really is a home from home, Sue and Trevor have provided everything needed and have obviously put a lot of thought into their guests requirements. All three bedrooms are a good size and have ample storage, the terrace is lovely and is so relaxing. There are plenty of restaurants close by, all are reasonably priced for both food and drinks, it is a nice walk into Torrox Costa where there is a lovely promenade and more eating places again reasonably priced. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sue and Trevor's apartment, thank you for making us feel so welcome, Val

Beautiful Deck
The view from the deck was beautiful. There was lots of furniture out there too. The kitchen was well equipped. It was very windy when we were there so we had to sit inside more than we would like. Drying laundry was hard in those winds! Torrox Costa has lots to do once you find the boardwalk.

Good view, well equiped expecially the balcony furniture, however parts were dated.
Comfortable homely apartment with good new fitted bathroom and one (main) bedroom. Kitchen was well equipped with kitchen and dinning wear and white goods. Balcony had a good view of the beach and pool and the balcony furniture was new and well thought out Lounge/living room was a bit dated, like being at your grandmas house. However, the tv/dvd was good with BBC/ITV/Channel 4 etc. WiFi in the apartment was good and always available. During our stay, the second double bedroom was unusable unfortunately as the window glass was missing from one of the windows and this made the room cold at night and the three heavy rain periods over the week, caused water to enter the room and floor, however we didn’t trouble Sue and Trevor with this durning our stay. The pool was good but old style (as I think the whole complex was constructed in the 80’s) and there was no where to sit next to the pool, sun chairs / beds etc. We consider the price / cost to be high for what we were able to use, effectively only a one bedroom apartment as the twin room was not made up. Sue and Trevor we able to respond to emails (x3) fast and effectively during our stay and they had left a welcome food, OJ, milk, bread, butter, wine, water, cake etc which was a nice surprise after the journey. So can say they are very good and kind host. Hope I have been balanced in my review here, I have tried to be constructive.

Lovely penthouse apartment.
The La Perla penthouse apartment was a real treat for my wife and I. First impressions were very good, the place was very clean throughout and very welcoming with lovely little touches with the decor making it feel very homely and comfortable. Sue and Trevor had left a hand written welcome note to us and a goody pack with some essentials for weary travellers that was very thoughtful. The information pack for guests was full of good tips and important information. Just about everything you could think of was provided to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommended. Top class accommodation, home away from home.
Stayed here for two weeks in June 2017, the photographs are very deceptive the apartment is much more spacious in reality. It would be perfect for for a party of 6 adults or less.The apartment was a home away from home it had everything that you could needs nothing was over looked. I could not recommend the accommodation enough and would definitely stay here again if travelling to this area. Sue was just a phone call away if there were any issues, she and her husband were very helpful as one of our party had an accident during our stay and they did all they could to assist us. Also great value compared to some of the accommodation in the area

Wonderful hosts, Superb location. A real Pearl !
We spent over 2 months at the Penthouse La Perla del Mar (February to April 2017). And without exaggeration, we can say that the penthouse is a pearl. The view is a force, the sea close to grasping point. Sea view from the terrace, living room and even from the bed (main bedroom). The penthouse is well furnished, we did not miss anything. There is free WIFI and it was very quiet, at least in our travel period. You can reach the city center (Torrox Costa) also on foot (about 2.5 km.), With one car this is more flexible but there are local buses and taxis also. The penthouse has a commanding view of the beach below... extending to the southern horizon of Costa del Sol. On a clear night one could marvel at the various heavenly constellations while lounging on the balcony. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and we really recuperated. With this view and the nice weather the relaxation was very easy. We can thoroughly recommend La Perla del Mar. It was like you want a holiday to be ! To top it all, Sue & Trevor are such wonderful hosts who are always there and ready to help when needed, very nice and with a quick response to any questions always immediately helpful. Und ohne Übertreibung können wir sagen, dass das Penthouse eine Perle ist. Die Aussicht ist eine Wucht, das Meer zum Greifen nahe. Meerblick von der Terrasse, Wohnzimmer und selbst vom Bett aus (Hauptschlafzimmer). Das Penthouse ist gut eingerichtet, uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Es gibt kostenloses WIFI und es war sehr ruhig, zumindest in unserer Reisezeit. Man kann die Innenstadt (Torrox Costa) auch zu Fuß erreichen (ca. 2,5 km.), mit einem Auto ist man jedoch viel flexibler. Die Vermieter Sue & Trevor sind super Gastgeber, sehr nett und bei Fragen immer sofort hilfsbereit gewesen. Die Kommunikation war ausgezeichnet. Alles in allem haben wir unseren Aufenhalt sehr genossen und uns super erholt. Mit dieser Aussicht und dem schönen Wetter fiel das Relaxen sehr leicht. Wir können La Perla del Mar nur empfehlen. Es war so wie man sich einen Urlaub wünscht.

Why they chose this property

We have always been drawn to this area and its unspoilt coastline, (reminds us of how things used to be 25 years ago before mass tourism)! its less busy than the neighbouring resort of Nerja, but you have the option to go there easily by bus, taxi or car - or even on foot if you like a good walk ..At Penoncillo there are some excellent value beach restaurants serving freshly prepared food and drinks at reasonable prices, there is a bus and taxi service and you can also walk along to the promenade at Torrox Costa, where there is a further range of shops bars and restaurants and a blue flag beach. Its just a nice friendly laid back place, perfect for recharging the batteries or an excellent base for exploring further afield!

What makes this property unique

Lots of outside space; South facing for plenty of sunshine even in the Winter. Large communal pool and lawned areas overlooking the sea and mountains. Convenient for the beach and short distance to Nerja and the white villages of Frigiliana and Torrox pueblo. Car not strictly necessary here. Perfect for coastal walks or just relaxing!
