A lovely relaxing week in a beautiful villa surrounded by stunning views
My sister and I had a great week in this delightful villa which has plenty of room for a good sized family. The beds are very comfortable and everything is very clean and easy to manage. We had planned to eat out at the two highly recommended restaurants in the village, but sadly they were both closed during August and so we tended to cook at the villa and much appreciated the vegetables that we were given from the garden. The swimming pool is really lovely and big enough to have a really good swim. Santiago keeps it beautifully clean and although there are trees nearby we never had any leaves in the pool. The villa has masses of toys and activities for young children but they would need to be carefully watched from a safety point of view.
While we were staying in Alpandeire we visited Ronda which is a very beautiful town. Not to be missed are the Arab Baths, the Mondragon House the New Bridge over the gorge, the Giants House and the Bull ring. We had a very great view of this from our table in the restaurant of the Panoramic Hotel where we had a fantastic lunch.
The only problem that we had during our holiday was in finding the villa on the first evening and driving on the mountain roads. We made the big mistake of trusting Google Maps to get us to the villa and in consequence we missed the turning on the right to Camino Ronda, marked with an attention sign for lorries, and since we were being told to go to the village this was what we did. As a result we got stuck in a terrifyingly narrow road that was about 1 in 1 with Google telling us to do a U turn. We phoned Santiago who was very helpful and once we had extracted ourselves he guided us to the villa. The village is lovely but the roads are extremely steep and we are both pensioners with some mobility issues. However I would certainly advise anyone of any age to avoid driving into Alpandeire. It is possible to park at the bottom of the mountain and walk up Calle Eritrea and then the views are wonderful.
All in all a lovely week and many thanks to Santiago and his wife
