Be our guest in a beautiful piece of American history! Built in 1790, this log home exemplifies a page from our history books with original wood floors, walls and beams. Located just 5 minutes walk from downtown, Lincoln Square, the home was once owned by Thaddeus Stevens and sits with a front seat view of where the Confederates occupied West Middle Street during the Battle of Gettysburg. The home, while keeping it's historic character, also contains modern conveniences (central air conditioning, recessed lighting, fully updated kitchen and baths, etc.). The Thaddeus Steven's house has 3 cozy bedrooms (upstairs, 2queen, 1full) and 1 & 1/2 bathrooms. Perfect for a couple, family or group of friends! Join us in this gorgeous historical home as you explore Gettysburg! **Please keep in mind the home was built in a time, when people were smaller. Ceilings and doorways are low. The floors slant and creak. The closet space is limited. And the home may not be functional for people with certain physical mobility issues. Appreciate where you are--transported to a special time--imagine yourself in another era! Enjoy Gettysburg!

The property was so interesting. It was lovely cozy and homey. Close distance to restaurants historic museums and town square. The host provided information regarding the history of the property and ideas of where to visit and things to do
The property provides a rare and delightful experience. The opportunity to enjoy many modern conveniences within a home of such age was a highlight of our visit to Gettysburg.
We enjoyed our stay in Thaddeus Stevens' old log house. It is indeed old--sloping and creaking floors, tight spaces--but that's what you stay here for.
Thaddeus Steven’s House was a warm welcoming home from the past. We enjoyed the ambiance of that history and yet had all the modern conveniences we are used to. We liked sitting out on the patio for coffee in the morning and coming back to relax after visiting the Gettysburg sites. The hosts are attentive and accessible for questions. Highly recommend.
We loved the charm and location of the house. The tour bus that we took went by the house and the tour guide even said that this house was one of his favorites in town. Also, Sarah answered us back everytime. would

What an awesome house. Very old historic home. It was a beautiful place to stay. Great parking and nice private back yard. You will be in walking distant of everything. We brought our electric bikes and rode all through the .battlefields.
Nice historic home in the heart of Gettysburg. Read the description as it is very accurate. We stayed during a hot spell so the upstairs was a little warm but the provided fans helped. Everything needed was provided. Make sure to read the logs of previous guests. Overall a great stay would recommend to others.
Had a great short stay here while exploring Gettysburg and seeing the Cadillac show near by. The house has charm and history and what else can you ask for in Gettysburg. Thank you Sarah and John for providing the opportunity bto stay here.
First impressions count and we all thought the house was charming. It is quirky but that is part of the appeal. It is centrally located and easy to walk to all shops and restaurants. It was also very close to the parade on Memorial Day which was nice. The back garden is large and peaceful if the weather is nice enough to sit outside. Kitchen was well stocked and easy to use.
The stairs are quite steep to the first floor so it might be something to consider for those with mobility issues. There is no washing machine/dryer (clearly stated in the advert) which was fine for a two day stay but would need a laundrette for a longer stay.
The owner was incredibly pro-active and, although the check-in was 4pm, we asked if we could drop off suitcases around noon. Not only was that allowed but the cleaning team had gone in extra early and the property was available to use.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Wonderful historic building close to downtown Gettysburg.
Stairs to second floor difficult to navigate for an older person. Hospitality by owner was excellent. Giving up a few amenities to be in such a historic setting was well worth it!
My friend & I loved staying at the Thaddeus Stevens House. The house was well stocked and very cozy. The location is perfect, within walking distance to the shops and restaurants.
We think Thaddeus Stevens himself would have loved this log house. We certainly did during our 3 day stay. Cozy and well decorated. A well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Close to downtown and just steps away to a local grocery. The owner, Sarah, is truly exceptional! Helped us in so many ways including making sure our kitchen skillet was returned to us after we accidentally left it in a cupboard. Hats off to Sarah, and a great little getaway!
Growing up in the Gettysburg area, I developed a love of history not only for the Civil War, but among other sites across the U.S. Our friends and my husband and I visited Gettysburg during the month of April, and loved every minute of it! The Thaddeus Steven’s house was a gem! The house was comfortable and we appreciated the historic ambiance that Sarah and John created for their guests. So nice to be able to walk pretty much everywhere uptown and down Baltimore Street and Steinwehr Ave. Visited some museums that had recently opened that we had never been too. All well done! Might we come back again and stay in this house? Yes!
After a long day of touring the battlefield, this place was perfect to return to. Great location, modern amenities with an authentic, historical feel. The house was nice and cozy, the shower had great water pressure and the beds were comfy. We will stay here again!
