Rustic but PERFECT!

If you want the quintessential old cabin in the mountains, this is your place. The views are spectacular. It is quite rustic, but clean and wonderful just as it is. Sure a larger bathtub would be nice, but there is a shower which is just fine. You have access to a dock and there is space above the dock to be even closer to the views and lake. David is great to work with and gets in touch quickly. This is our third time staying here, and won't be the last.

Our family loves Grand Lake and we stay here any chance we get. We loved Whispering Pine’s and it’s location, charm and proximity to the water and town. Communication with David was excellent! Will definitely stay again.

Nice old cabin by the like

We had a very nice stay here. It's certainly an older house, so don't expect tons of modern comforts, but it's got all the amenities you could want to make for a nice, relaxing time by Grand Lake. One useful note: while the house doesn't have internet, both Verizon and T-Mobile signals were good enough to be usable.

Drink the Grand Lake Kool-Aid

I drank the Grand Lake Kool-Aid! Now I want a house on the lake. This property is absolutely amazing! It a wonderful place filled with so much to see. The location of the home is fantastic as you are right on the water. Across the bridge there is a nice walking park. The boat house views are out of this world. Entering RMNP is a breeze. The local market has everything you need - 3 mins drive. This was our first family trip with 2 kids (2.5yr old + 1 yr old). The property was just what we needed. The house has sooo much charm! We would sit on the living room swing and just stare at the walls. We are very fortunate the family opened up their house for us. A moose came right through the canal, up to the house. The town (5min drive) has a wonderful park for kids. RMNP: we saw elk, moose, deer, wolves Tips: after landing in Denver, head straight to the property and stop at the local market to grab your items. We stopped at Walmart before and then got stuck in traffic. We enjoy having food at the house so we could sit on the screen in porch without leaving to get food.

Rustic but fantastic

This 1905 summer home sits on an incomparable perch on the corner of Grand Lake and the canal between Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Réservoir. We kayaked, we ran and we hiked, but we also spent countless hours on the screen porch overlooking the water enjoying the hummingbirds, osprey, sky, water, mountain views, changing light and winds, and the passing boat traffic. There is also a boat house with a deck right on the lake where we spent many hours enjoying the lake and mountains. We walked 15 min to downtown bakery with our dog most mornings and had breakfast at a picnic table overlooking the lake. We cooked out on the charcoal grill several evenings. Everything is old and the beds are a little soft, but we were charmed. The price is high, especially taking a dog, but it was worth it.

Quintessential Cabin on the Lake

We loved the charm and coziness of the cabin. The comfort of the screened in porch was our favorite spot and a perfect place to take in the beautiful setting. Our teens enjoyed fishing, boating and even frisbee golf nearby. Something for everyone. Thanks!

Great place to disconnect

Wonderful cabin to relax and disconnect from daily life. Enjoyed it all! The screened porch provided for great boat watching, enjoyed starting out day there every day. The boat house deck was fun as well! We had a great time, kids included! We will be back!

Didn’t even stay

I boated past and didn’t think it looked nice. I literally did not even book the property or stay here so I will be pretty disappointed with David and VRBO if they charge me just for inquiring.

Wonderful family getaway

My kids and I stayed at whispering pines and were pleasantly surprised at the homeyness and history of the place. It was outfitted well for a family to just be, and that's what we did a lot of the time. we enjoyed the porch, the games, the fireplace, the views and the wildlife. I'd like to bring more family in the future.

Great Rustic Cabin

We booked this cabin for a weekend getaway and were not disappointed. Communication with the owner David was very easy and quick. The cabin is located right on the water, we were able to drink morning coffee watching the boats go through the channel. It was a very short walk down to the boat house, and just a few minutes outside of town. Cabin had everything you'd need, and the neighbors were great/friendly too.

Cozy, unique cabin in a spectacular place!

We had an amazing week at Whispering Pines with our extended family. We were all comfortable in the 8 twin beds (plus one air mattress). We found the cabin to be clean when we arrived and it had literally EVERYTHING we needed plus more. We loved having a record player and the record collection (plus all the books and games and history of the cabin). The kitchen had plenty of dishes and silverware and all kinds of cookware that we were surprised by. Having two full-sized refrigerators was a very pleasant surprise and made life much easier since we were cooking every day for all of us! We were also impressed by the water pressure, and even though we almost all used the one shower (over the tub), we never ran out of hot water. The cabin was also bigger in most rooms than we expected, yet still felt very cozy. We expected a "rustic" cabin, but so many of the touches were unique and original to this amazing 1905 cabin (such a cool stairway) and we found it had all of the modern "creature comforts" we needed! We were glad NOT to have a TV or internet (though we did have good cell reception which was nice). We were blown away by the setting. This cabin sits on the corner between the channel and Grand Lake and had scenic views of both. We saw ~5 moose while we were there (including one on the property RIGHT off the front porch) and a bear. We loved that there were flocks of hummingbirds enjoying the feeder on the porch and identified 3 different hummingbird species. The boathouse was so wonderful to have and the view from the seating on top of the boathouse may be the best view on the lake. We loved being able to just walk across the bridge to Point Park and into town. We loved having a real yard to play in and having an indoor swing in the living room (how cool!). We could go on and on, but basically we would stay here again in a heartbeat and really enjoyed our week. Thank you so much for a vacation to remember!

Perfect!

Our 2018 Family Reunion took place in Whispering Pines. The 'Cabin' is a bit rustic but beautifully furnished, big fireplace, large screened in porch facing the canal, deck over the boathouse facing the lake and walking distance to town. Wild life in abundance. Privacy that we cherish. It could not have been a better setting for our family. Great memories were made and everyone hated to leave. David is a very considerate host and responsive to all your questions. This will make your stay in Grand Lake a true pleasure. Mike and Julie

PERFECT GETAWAY

VERY RUSTIC CABIN, BUT CLEAN AND HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT NOT HAVING TV OR INTERNET, HOWEVER I NEVER MISSED THEM. We were treated to an abundance of wildlife right off the porch. Our first day, while sitting on the porch, a bear walked through the yard, before dark. Hw crossed the bridge and went to the park. We had nightly visits from foxes and morning visits from squirrel and chipmunk. Got to see two moose grazing in the park. Loved the fireplace and swing in the living room. I recommend a dinner in town at Sagebrush, best prime rib. It was unseasonably raining, but still very enjoyable. highly recommend this cabin, as the location is perfect.

Amazing Location

Beautiful location. Secluded with amazing views and close to town. This Quaint Cabin is a charmer. Comfortable single beds in every room, great kitchen, living room and stellar porches. Just a couple suggestions: 1. Upgrade the shower. It needs to be bigger for this many people and with only a tub upstairs it's a need not a want. 2. Don't let the hummingbird feeder hang over the porch. It leaks and makes the porch sticky. Thus the paint coming up. Just a little extender and you're set.

What makes this property unique

The Grand Lake Fireworks Extravaganza has put Grand Lake on the map for Colorado's most extraordinary fireworks display. The fireworks rise to 7,500 feet with embers reflecting off the lake and reverberations bouncing off the rocky crags of the surrounding mountains. Bring your blanket, find a comfortable spot, and gaze into the open sky for the glitter and sparkle 4th of July traditionally brings. It is truly an awesome show, one not to be missed!
