Charming Oceanfront Cottage

Social distancing is never a problem in Downeast, Maine.
Our cottage is located in Jonesport, a small fishing village off Route
187 which is situated between Sandy River and Popplestone Beaches; it is
directly on the ocean in one of the most scenic locations in Downeast.
The cottage is slightly elevated above the shore and faces east
overlooking Chandler Bay. There are spectacular sunrises for early
birds, and sunsets that turn the ocean iridescent, while setting the offshore
islands aflame. Our property sits above rugged granite ledges, but a sandy beach is within walking distance.
Spectacular views can be seen from inside the cottage, while outside the sights and sounds of the ocean will surround you. The wild flowers and gardens on the property are constantly visited by humming birds.

Simply wonderful!

This is our 3rd year here and it did not disappoint! The setting cannot be beat, and the cottage is just right for us. The day we arrived, eagles and ospreys were soaring and seals were corraling fish just below - what more could we ask for?!

Amazing spot, fantastic trip!

The location of this rental is unbelievable. The view from the back yard/deck and walking on the beach up the street were the highlights of the trip. The house itself is clean and cozy. We used it has a home base to hike and explore the surrounding area and it was perfect. Be sure to go out on the back deck and check out the stars while you are here. Doug was a wonderful host and sent us some really good information and recommendations. Would definitely love to go back again some day.

Delightful Cottage on the Maine Coast

The house, a stone's throw from the ocean, offered views of several islands, bald eagles, cormorants, and Eider ducks, a nearby sand beach, and privacy thanks to nice landscaping. It is a wonderful place to relax, venture out to nearby trails, or even day trip to Campobello Island, summer home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Doug, the owner was incredibly responsive, and we met our friendly neighbors in the next cottage, sharing wine and cheese and a dinner. A superbly well-equipped cottage!

Maine coast get away

This property was exactly as described. There were adequate stores for supplies and we were able to find delicious seafood relatively nearby. The view from the cottage both from inside and on the deck was absolutely breathtaking. You cannot get enough of it. Great internet connection for those who just can’t get away from it all. We took short trips to nearby villages for lobster and a wonderful day trip to Campobello Island. It was the perfect spot if you’re looking for a relaxing peaceful vacation.

Cute Cabin

Cabin was exactly as specified. Very clean and you have everything you need. We enjoyed views from the deck, the sound of the boats and our daily walk out to the island at low tides. Although it was not a problem for us, bathroom could be a challenge to larger individuals. Being close to the road, you hear the cars and trucks go by, and you are close to the other cabin. Overall, a great little cabin for our 4 night stay. It was also easy to communicate with the owner, Doug. Thank you.

Jonesport - Cottage A

The cottage was clean and comfortable. The sound of the ocean could be heard from just about anywhere inside. The New England weather was the only issue... there was rain and fog for 11 of the 14 days. This was unusual summertime weather and should not stop anyone from visiting. I was only able to view the sunrise on 1 day but this would be the place to be if the weather had cooperated. Absolutely breathtaking! There's plenty of beach to walk on, tidal pools to explore and even some sea glass to be found. At low tide you can even walk out to a small island. It's those simple things that I was looking for and that's what I got. If the weather had cooperated, I'm sure this would have been the vacation of a lifetime. I'd recommend this rental for 1 or 2 people.

Cottage With A View

Everything here is wonderful. Doug is an excellent communicator and super-helpful with any questions or needs. The cottage is just as described, but better even than the pictures show. We saw lots of birds, from hummingbirds to eagles. Sunsets were spectacular. The night skies are great for viewing, seeing the Milky Way is cool. We brought our telescope and enjoyed some great sights. It's 90 minutes to Bar Harbor and 60 minutes to the Canadian border if you fancy a side trip. When you're hungry, you're 10 minutes from Bayview Takeout with food to please everyone. You can also go to one of the docks and purchase live lobsters. The kitchen is stocked with what you would need to cook your lobsters and crackers to open them up. Furniture was comfortable, even the outdoor chairs. We spoke to some neighbors, they were very nice. It's a lovely small town and we plan on coming back. We highly recommend staying here if you have the chance. We will surely be back!

My husband and I stayed a week in this charming cottage. The views are amazing! We had fresh lobster straight off the docks in Jonesport. So good! There is some great hiking here and people are friendly and helpful. Not too many restaurant options, but Jonesport Pizza was really good. We had a great week.

The way life should be!

This cottage is perfectly situated for watching seals, ospreys, eagles, enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze and allowing yourself to relax. Sandy Beach just down the street is indeed sandy and when the tide is low you are able to walk out to Bar Island to explore and beach comb. Also within easy driving distance is Campobello, Bar Harbor, Eastport; the list goes on! We may make this an annual treat for ourselves!

Truly where “peace comes dropping slow” (Thank you, Yeats.)

My husband and I loved our stay here, with the beautiful views out to the ocean and peace and quiet, which may have been partially due to being there in late September. However, the quiet is also in part because the cottage sits back off the road nicely and has privacy from the neighboring houses created by hedges. We enjoyed walks to nearby Sandy River beach, a low tide walk out to neighboring Bar Island, delicious lobster from the “Lockah “ on Lobster Ave. in Jonesport, and short trips to Machias, Roque Bluffs State park, and the amazing Jasper Beach which is touted as one of the finest pebble beaches anywhere. We do note that this cozy cottage would probably be best for two or three people (4 might be a challenge). Doug was a terrific host, answered all my emailed questions in advance, and was very helpful while we were there.

More than Charming!

The first word out of both our mouths when entering this property was "Wow"! Such a tidy sweet cottage overlooking the ocean where we were treated to daily sightings of seals, ospreys, eagles as we relaxed on the deck. A beautiful beach was located within walking distance of the cottage and Jonesport itself is located nearby all kinds of beaches and sightseeing. Doug was a terrific helpful host. We will be back!

Great location in cute cottage!

This little cottage served us well for a week of exploration on the Bold Coast of Maine. The views from the deck and the rocky shore below are spectacular. Doug responded to questions quickly and we had no problems. This is a great rental for 1-2 people who have identical sleep schedules (walls of the two small bedrooms do not go to the ceiling). The kitchen had all we needed.

Perfect Maine Cottage

I grew up in the area and came back this fall to visit my family. We found this amazing charming cottage and was not disappointed. The sunrises from the front porch were just amazing. We used the fireplace in the living room often and it made for nice, cozy evenings. It was the perfect size for my husband and I. Hope to go back again next year.

Perfect ocean front R & R

Location perfect for rest and relaxation. View from porch better than in pictures. Small, rustic cabin as is described with necessary amenities. Enjoyed lobster from local Lobster Pound. Doug was informative, communicative and flexible, he was very helpful. We knew just what to bring with us to enjoy the week. Our stay wonderful.

Beautiful views. Fabulous getaway.

We were looking for a vacation to get away from crowds and the rest of the world, while still having things to do. This was the perfect place for that. Between beautiful rock shores to trails to seals to quiet.
