About this property

Camp Onondaga Fully Restored Historic Lake Cottage

We are proud to offer a fabulous historic lake cottage on the
North Eastern shores of Cayuga Lake. It is a Saturday to Saturday weekly rental only.
It has been beautifully and lovingly restored and features all
knotty-pine walls and ceilings, hardwood floors, wrap around porch on 3 sides, and new kitchen appliances.
The cottage has two spacious floors:
On the first level is the kitchen and bathroom with a shower; as well as a living room-dining area with a full size sofa bed a single bed, a table and chairs and tv. There is an angled stairway to go up to the bedroom loft. A slow step by step access. The second level is a large open floor plan loft-style bedroom that has cathedral ceilings and a private deck that overlooks the lake. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets or enjoy the view with your morning coffee. The open loft features hand-crafted wood furniture, including one double sized bed, a pair of twin sized bunk beds, and extra folding cot. FREE wi-fi internet service and city water for drinking and cooking.

Cottage also has a Hamilton Beech Flex brew maker ( K cups or ground coffee to brew ), blender, microwave, stainless steel utensils, dishes, glasses, pots & pans; etc. Cook inside on the electric stove or outside on the grill (with a free butane tank already provide).
All you need to bring are your own linens, pillows, towels, paper products, soaps and food. Water shoes are great, especially for children. We have life jackets for the row boat and canoe usage for our guests.
Bring your cell phone or use our phone # for emergency contact.
Enter water using a pool ladder at end of cottage dock or go for a ride in the row boat or canoe or dock your own boat or rental boat there. Sit outside and enjoy a camp fire roasting marsh mellows or just enjoy the beautiful night sky.
Plenty restaurants around for
Breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner or go for a short ride to play mini golf, visit the wineries or to get ice cream. Plenty to do. Brochures supplied for day trips, etc. About 3 miles to the north is Montezuma Refuge, where you can either drive thru with your vehicle or walk along the path to view nature ( deer, turtles, frogs, birds, even bring your dog along for an enjoyable walk with you.
Plenty to do or just relax. The wrap around
porch is perfect for sitting outside, even on a rainy day. Smoking however; is not allowed inside the cottage at any time.
A great place to relax and have a great time.

Loved the access to the boat, beautiful view great location. Bed in loft very comfortable but my dog needed company in living room. Sofa bed not that great but ok. Bathroom bathing a little tight in shower stall, other than that, I had a great time.

Great stay

So rare to find a lake house with a decent yard! Enjoyed the dock and boats and fishing was great for most ... The loft is a climb but the house lacks nothing. Great week vacation.

Amazing views

It was very relaxing. The place was very clean and accurate described. Ann Marie was very nice and very helpful. She willingly shared her knowledge and her grapes and plums as well. The only disappointment was not being able to catch a salmon. One day I will. The place itself is all I expected from a cabin on a lake. And for us the stair climb wasn’t that difficult. Loved the use of the rowboat and canoe.i definitely would stay again. We enjoyed.

We had a wonderful time at the cottage.

Cute, clean, perfect mid-Finger Lakes location. Unbelievable sunsets! Only issue is stairs to bunk room. Pics don’t really give perspective of just how steep they are.

Cayuga Lake Bay

This was a good value for the price. I was looking to place to relax and unwind and that happened. The property is rustic. It is on a very fast moving road with trucks going by. Its not really safe to walk along the road. There is walking available a few minutes drive down the road in Cayuga at Harris Park. The host was helpful. The parking is very exact. Make sure you get specific instructions about where to park before you arrive. If you have trouble climbing a ladder, the top floor with a double bed will be very difficult to access.

Just What We Needed

We were looking for a simple home to enjoy the lake and outdoors and local Finger Lakes offerings. The home was clean and has everything you need including an outdoor grill and picnic table on the deck, a small dock and a row boat and canoe that we enjoyed, not to mention lake breezes and gorgeous sunsets. Our adult children had a blast with some of their friends on the water, having a bonfire and visiting local wineries. The home is near Aurora and Skaneatles for local shopping, antiquing and gorgeous views. We spent a lot of time at a park in Aurora which became my running route daily. It was a short drive away. Anne Marie is nearby to give tips and to ask questions like where is the closet Walmart. There is also a small grocery store, dollar store, gas station and laundry mat nearby in Union Springs. The house has interesting history if you appreciate things that are historic. It was fun to stay there with the knowledge of hundreds of years of history happening. We would definitely rent there again.

Misleading

The owners were very nice, however, the description is misleading. I asked specifically on the phone before we booked, since the house was located on the North East corner of the lake, if it was shallow, warm and was there seaweed. The owner said no. It was very warm, there was tons of seaweed and algae, the water was murky. We only went in a couple of times. Very disappointing. The house is on a busy truck route and the houses are very close. We had to keep the windows closed at night if the lights were on as hundreds of tiny bugs flew in through the screen towards any light. We enjoyed the area, but the house location was a disappointment for us.

very nice lakeside cottage

There are many positives to this property, and a couple of negatives, at least with our lifestyle. Positives include the owner (who lives in the house next door). What a delightful person to chat with. We loved the porch, all the chairs available to sit and enjoy the view, the access to a canoe, and the cottage itself. Everything that the owner could control we thouroughly enjoyed. The negative for us (living in rural PA) what the distance from the cottage to the road. The road is the major north-south route on the eastern side of the lake, and even though it was quiet at the cottage 85% of the time, trucks did use the road, and we all know how load some trucks can be. The evenings were very quiet. Early morning you could hear the road becoming more active. Overall a very positive experience. Our dog settled in very nicely and to sum - up the review, yes, we would stay there again.

Lovely home with views on the lake

AnneMarie was the perfect host! She greeted us when we arrived and gave us an overview of the cottage and general info. We had our daughter and 18 month old granddaughter with us and AnneMarie even brought toys over for her❤️ AnneMarie even lent Eric a fishing pole! She shared the grapes and apples from her yard as well. She was a Wealth of information for places to eat or shop. So very kind ! The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We did bring our own linens. Kids will love the loft! Fishing off the dock or on the boat was great. But oh those sunsets!!!

More minuses than pluses for seniors

Minuses - Limited parking, VERY steep stairs to upper floor and balcony, SMALL shower; due to bad weather and flooding prior to our arrival, dock was unavailable for most of our 12 day stay. Pluses - Convenient location but lots of road noise from traffic. Definitely would not recommend for seniors.

Great Cabin on the Finger Lakes

We had a wonderful time at Camp Onondaga! The cabin is clean and well maintained. The stairs to the loft take a little getting used to but eventually you get the hang of it. Swimming in the lake is absolutely wonderful. The lake is shallow where the cabin is located and it gets deeper very gradually. Plus the lake water is fairly warm, so it's easy to get in! I also appreciated that the row boat and canoe were in great shape, which so very rare these days. To top it all off, fishing on the lake is a lot of fun. There are plenty of fish to catch and even observe.

Nice stay

While my family and I had a great time, I was a little thrown off when we first arrived. As soon as we got there I was questioned on the amount of people and weather or not I paid the pet fee. We were also informed of a mishap with the oven and was told not to use it. As there were 5 adults and 3 children we had already planned out most of our meals and brought the food we would need to limit shopping trips. After getting settled it took my husband not even a half hour to clean out the oven so that it could be used. My family and I still had a nice time despite those issue.
