We loved staying at David’s cottage! It’s the cutest cottage. Beautifully decorated. The master bed was so comfortable! We loved the master bath as well. We spent most of our time on the huge porch listening to the creek below. We cooked a lot and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to bring our black lab Sadie with us too and she loved hiking the area! We can’t wait to be back to creeksde cottage!
This was the best possible place for our month-long getaway from Florida heat! The house is beautifully appointed, fully equipped in every way, and truly close to everything. The host was very responsive to my few questions and his check-in was effortless. This is our 3rd trip to Sapphire Valley and our favorite house. Had deer and a bear pass through the yard, too.
No outside grill, but no problem. Tons of hiking and waterfalls nearby. Use All trails (free app) for details. Enjoy!nearby restful.
This home exceeded my expectations in every possible way. I spent almost every waking hour on the porch watching the birds and enjoying the cool air. The kitchen was well equipped, the decor was beautiful, the linens were great, the beds were comfortable….I wouldn’t change a thing.
I lowered the rating regarding the accuracy of the listing because it was unclear to me that the hot tub was not on the property. It is listed as an amenity but I didn’t see it in the pictures so I inquired. It, a pool, and other amenities were available at the club. I think VRBO could do a better job with the description.
I truly had an absolutely delightful time.
We loved Creekside Cottage. The location is beautiful and the cottage is comfortable and well appointed, with all the comforts of home. Everything is easy and well communicated. Much better than staying in a hotel!
The steep driveway was a surprise, but not unexpected in the area.
The house is beautiful, comfortable and in a beautiful location. The owner east to communicate with for any questions you may have. The back porch is wonderful for relaxing and listening to the creek.
Booked as a quick getaway in the mountains for my wife and I . Home was clean , very well decorated , comfortable and kitchen fully equipped ! Setting was wonderful and serene on a nice mountain stream . Close to Saphire , Cashiers and Highlands . Plenty of great hiking nearby … both touristy hiking areas as well as remote mountain trails leading to waterfalls and views . Definitely recommend !
This property was secluded, the VRBO description was spot on. The sound of the creek was so relaxing. Sitting on the covered deck, listening to the creek was so very relaxing. Would return with no hesitation.
This was an absolutely fantastic spot to spend a week in the mountains. David was a fantastic host who went above & beyond to answer our questions, and the property was gorgeous and close to so many fun spots for the kids & adults. I cannot recommend enough!
The house is beautiful and comfortable. We loved, loved, loved the back large deck listening to the birds and the creek down below. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and a nice soaking tub. The only dislike was the very steep driveway. We found the location to be convenient to town or state park.
My original review did not save so here’s hoping I can write a review as good as the last!
My husband and I visit Sapphire several times a year and are always looking for our perfect place to stay. We might just have found it! Creekside was the absolute perfect place for us to escape and disconnect. It is close enough to town, but far enough to just take in the nature. The house is beautifully decorated (photos do not do it justice) and maintained very well. Listening to the creek and windchimes on a breezy or rainy day were heaven to us! The kitchen is stocked well and we were able to cook our meals each day. It definitely felt like home. If David will have us back, we would love to stay again!
Fully furnished cabin, with actual wood burning fireplace and great backdoor elevated & covered deck for relaxing near the babbling brook about 75 feet below. Comfy 3 bedroom 2 Bath home all on one level. A couple of steps into this well equipped home. We had great time exploring the Greater Cashiers, Highlands and Glenville Lake areas. We hope to return again in the future!
We had an amazing time again! Beautiful home. Comfortable and cozy! Love the tranquil sounds of the creek. Hiked in panther town valley and had an awesome lunch at the Greystone Inn!
We stayed here for our daughter’s wedding and made a parent getaway as well.
The cabin was stunning inside and was so cozy. What we loved the most was the sound of the creek that made you feel so relaxed after a long day.
One thing I will say the driveway is a bit steep but after the second time we had it mastered.
Mr Bennett was very polite and a wonderful host.
If you stay here you will definitely not be disappointed.
What a wonderful stay we had at Creekside on Hogback Creek! The cabin is so comfy and has everything you need. Very well stocked with kitchen supplies. This cabin is very nicely decorated and the porch out the back is fabulous!!!! My husband and I along with our 8 year old Sheltie spent most of our time on the porch. David is very easy to work with too. The driveway is very steep so be careful in the winter. We noticed the outdoor floodlights on the left side of the house weren’t working. We had a fire in the fireplace two nights which just added to the ambience of this beautiful cabin (plenty of wood provided with rental). We highly recommend staying here and we will definitely return. A definite 5 star VRBO.
Lovely house that has everything you need in a great area! The king bed was very comfortable. Close to the best hiking ie panther trail. Cashiers provides a good market and has a few good restaurants.
This mountain retreat is beyond wonderful. Everything about it was exactly what I was needing and looking for. Great location, secluded, private, shaded, cozy but also close to grocery store, restaurants, shopping, etc. The back deck is covered and huge! Stayed out there most of the time listening to the creek and all that nature had to offer. Table for outdoor dining. Beautiful location and perfect mtn cottage that is very well maintained and kept. It is extremely well decorated so very pleasing to look at. The owner has spared no expense in stocking the kitchen with everything you need and more---more than some will have in their own kitchen. There's a large laundry/pantry off the kitchen that is very convenient. Bedrooms offer a good nights sleep with clean, fresh mtn air. Bathrooms are large and very nice with walk-in showers--plus soaking tub. I really like the area and then go into Cashiers and Highlands. Everything is charming. This retreat is a place I will like to visit again and as often as I can. Excellent, relaxing place to stay.
We were looking for a cool mountain getaway and Creekside cabin was perfect.
The cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable as were the oversized leather chairs in the living room. We loved the large deck on the back of the house and enjoyed many morning coffees and evening cocktails on the deck. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to make some nice meals. There was a very nice grocery store within 15 minutes of the cabin but once we turned off of the main road we were back into our mountain hideaway.
There is a wonderful beach area just up the road from the cabin where we enjoyed walking ,boating and letting our dog swim and play with other dogs.
There was wildlife everywhere. We saw numerous deer and small black bears. Bird watchers will have a wonderful time watching the many bird species that live in the woods behind and beside the house/cabin.
Internet was very strong and Direct TV provided plenty of movie channels for rainy evenings. Cashiers and Highlands were very accessible for a meal out or shopping. We also had access to the ski area and community center where we could work out, swim in heated pools or just enjoy waliking around.
The roads in the area are very winding so you have to stay on your toes when driving and the driveway is quite steep, which we Floridians were not used to.
We would definitely stay again and highly recommend Creekside for anyone who is looking for cool weather and peace and quiet!
Beautiful, comfortable home in a very special mountain community!! Hated to leave and look forward to returning. Our daughter was able to use the office/bedroom and high speed internet to work during the day and still be able to join us. Our somewhat low to the ground sedan scraped a little trying to enter carport, but no worries, plenty of room to park in front. Our daughter's RAV4 used the carport.
We had a wonderful stay at Creekside! This home is a GEM!! The home is perfectly appointed...gorgeous furnishings and lots of extra touches. We had a fabulous week creating family memories. Loved the back deck with stream below and abundant wildlife. It was our first time staying in Sapphire Valley and we will definitely stay in this cozy home again. Thank you, David!!
We had an amazing time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home David. We loved the feeling of being so secluded yet so close to everything. The decor of the home was stunning and the beds so comfortable. The atmosphere is tranquil and cozy. The perfect place to get away and relax! Our first morning we saw bears across the creek. We’ve been coming to this area for many years and this by far is one of our favorite places to stay. My favorite part was the sounds of the creek that you can hear from anywhere in the house. I can’t recommend this place enough. Absolutely stunning and we will definitely be back!!

I live in Florida and enjoy traveling and spending time in the mountains enjoying nature and the cooler temperatures in Western North Carolina. The Sapphire/Cashiers/Highlands area is filled with great hiking and has numerous waterfalls that will take your breath away.
Why they chose this property
I first visited the Sapphire Valley years ago while visiting my parents in Asheville and knew that I wanted a little getaway of my own. I found this house and knew it would be a wonderful place to spend a few week each year relaxing.
What makes this property unique
The Sapphire/Cashiers/Highlands area is unique in its beauty, peace and so many outdoor activities to enjoy. The great restaurants, art galleries and shopping are the added bonus for those who like to spend a little time indoors.
