***Book now***

**We also own and rent out a cottage in nearby Sodus Point - A Little Peace at The Point - please check it out**

Totally renovated in 2014 & 2021 the cottage is located among 1800’s homes and just a half-mile from historic Pultneyville. This sweet little abode began life in the early 1900’s as the Pultneyville Harbor Office, before being moved to its present location in the 1950’s. In 2014 we went through it stem to stern, and painted, mended, or replaced everything in her, while keeping the original heart and soul of the cottage.

The family room has a sofa (sleeper) and 2 chairs, plus a bar height table and stools for dining or game-play. A Flat screen TV with Google Chromecast is provided and free Wi-Fi. (NOTE Strong reception for AT&T & Verizon Wireless cell service)

Mature shade trees and a wonderful lake breeze keep you cool in the summer. **window AC Unit that works great even on the hottest of days** 3 Fans are also provided. In the off-season a new in 2017 furnace keeps you warm & cozy.

The newly renovated kitchen features all new appliances, cabinets and finishes. If you want to cook, the kitchen is ready for you with complete cookware and dinnerware. A microwave, drip & Keurig coffeemakers, toaster, and a blender are included too. An outside WEBER gas grill is also provided.

There are 2 bedrooms, both with double beds (Serta Perfect Sleepers). There is an IKEA sleeper sofa in the living room that sleeps 2 as well. Linens included! (additional fees apply for more than 4 people).

The bathroom has all new fixtures and finishes and is very roomy, and includes a tub/shower unit. Towels provided.

***Please note there is NO SMOKING in The Cottage***

Step outside and enjoy seating on the covered front porch, with a beautiful view of the cherry orchard across the street (we are surrounded by orchards). In the back is a wood patio with a table and chairs, and a fire pit (wood is available). A short 5 minute walk across the street brings you to a 100-foot high bluff with beautiful views of Lake Ontario, part of the new Cornwall Preserve with hiking trails and peace & quiet.

And there is plenty to do nearby…the area is known for antique shops, dining, boating, and fishing.

Take a half-mile walk to town, and you’ll find the Pultneyville Deli & Up Pub, an Art Gallery, museum, antique shop, churches, and beautiful Pultneyville Harbor.

12 minutes east by car is Sodus Point, a dining, boating and fishing mecca. There are 2 lighthouses, a museum (free summer Sunday concerts on the lawn 2PM), fishing pier, several marinas, boat rentals, charter fishing boats, 2 playgrounds, skate park, ball field, really nice public beach(with lifeguards), multiple restaurants (open late), ice cream stands, gift shop, church, and convenience market.

3 miles east is Hughes Marina, with fishing, boat docks, boat launches and boat and kayak rentals. 4 miles west is the Bear Creek boat launch operated by the Town of Ontario (permit required), and this is a very popular fishing location.

Palmyra is 20 minutes south.

We live right next door and will be happy to be your host for your stay, and help you locate any of the local services. Hope you stay with us at The Pultneyville Harbor Office Cottage.

Maple Weekend

We visited for New York Maple Weekend and the cottage was perfectly situated to visit several sugar houses. We had visited in 2019 and it was just as cozy as we remembered..Nice getaway spot.

Quiet/beautiful area, inaccurate listing, responsive hosts

We were looking for a quiet cottage/cabin away from the busyness of a city and this place definitely checked that box. The area is beautiful, very close to Lake Ontario, and across from a nature preserve with hiking trails (with gorgeous views of the lake). The listing is not accurate to our experience there. There is no fireplace. The lake view is about a 5-10 minute walk away. The playground is over a mile away at the park. The dining table is the desk, which is more like a bar. It is the only usable surface for eating, writing, using a laptop, etc. Pictures show it with stools, but there are 4 chairs squeezed in there and the stools scattered throughout the cottage with stuff on them. The pictures show a very clean and neat cottage. However, when we arrived, it was filthy. There was a strong stale pet smell along with a strong chemical lemon Lysol smell. The cookware, counters, stove, and kitchen walls had old, dried food and grime on them. The toilet was dirty from top to bottom (except the inside of the bowl). We vacuumed up a whole container of stuff off the floors and they definitely were not mopped. The bar had so much grime that I couldn't get it completely clean. Everything had dirt, dust, and/or grime. It is in need of a professional deep cleaning. It was stressful to have to clean when we arrived. So we contacted the hosts in the morning with pictures of the condition of the cottage. They responded very quickly with a gracious and satisfactory resolution.

If you need a cute cottage in Williamson area look no further. Just book this adorable 2 bedroom cottage. It’s close to everything but yet far enough to relax in quietness. Will definitely book again since it’s close to my grandkids.

Peaceful, secluded, and clean

This cottage was the perfect getaway for a peaceful retreat. Located just a short drive from Sodus Point, it offered the ideal balance of convenience and tranquility. The proximity to boating, fishing, dining, and nightlife made it easy to enjoy local activities, while still being far enough away from the noise and crowds. Every destination we wanted to visit was within a comfortable 30-45 minute drive, which was perfect for exploring the area. The cottage itself was remarkably clean and well-maintained, making it feel like a true home away from home. The quiet surroundings allowed us to unwind completely, offering a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The historic charm of the nearby town added to the overall experience, making it feel like we had stepped back in time. It was clear that the owners took great care in ensuring that the space was welcoming and comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen was a bonus for cooking meals, and the cozy living space was perfect for relaxing after a day of activities. We especially appreciated the privacy the location offered. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we would love to return for another peaceful escape.

Not as expected

This property is fine for younger folks, but older people need a place to sit comfortably. There was only the futon and 1 old chair in the living room. When the futon was being used as a bed, I had to sit on a bar stool or old chair. I about fell through the chair seat and had a hard time getting back out of it. Didn't realize the lights had to be on in the kitchen to get the appliances to work. And you're expected to pay a cleaning fee and then do most of the cleaning before you leave. We were also under the impression that we'd be on the water side of the street. Just an apple orchard view.

Lake Ontario Adventures

Tom was there to help us with check-in and to help us feel welcome. The Cozy cottage has lots of hidden charms as well as a beautiful location and the berry picking was a delightful surprise. Our grandsons enjoyed a successful fishing charter and the walking paths overlooking the lake provide a serene start and end to every day.

A bit too cozy for a family with teens

The raves: The bathroom size was amazing. We liked that it was close to Rochester which we checked out for their famous flee market. We loved Rochester! The nature walk nearby by the lake was lovely too. Loved being able to bring our dog along too. The disappointments: When we booked, having never being there before, and the listing photo had an image of the lake, I was under the impression it was basically on the lake. Once we got here, we realized it really wasn’t. The location is convenient but bcs it’s on the main road you do hear some traffic noise if you have the windows open. One important criteria that we chose this bcs it said it said it has a/c but the a/c unit was only in the living room and barely working beyond fan mode on the max cooling setting. Opening the front and back doors open help circulate air better. The available fans were either ineffective or super loud at the quietest mode. The cabin would prob be great for a couple or if you have very young children. The front bedroom’s mattress sags a bit, so my husband I opted to give it to one of our teens and we slept on the sofa bed. The sofa bed wasn’t that comfy, and the smoke detector would flash throughout the night in the living room (glad I had a travel eye mask on hand). All in all, I would recommend that if you’re traveling with more than one teen, to find a bigger place. And if a/c is important to you, as it is to us, make sure each bedroom and the living room have adequate cooling.

Quaint and Idyllic

We had a wonderful time! The place was certainly small (getting two pack n plays in for my two under two was a squeeze), but in a cozy way that allowed for quality family time. My only complaint was that the sheets weren’t cotton, which made them a little on the warm side for the time of year, but they were soft and clean. The cottage was situated across the street from orchards, and a short, lovely drive to quint, idyllic Pultneyville. Would absolutely rent again!

Our Cottage Stay

We really wanted to love this place unfortunately it was very dirty. There was hair in the drain that my husband had to fish out, spiders and cobwebs everywhere, dust on all the surfaces and even some old popcorn we found in the one bedroom. It also had quite a musty smell which made my allergies go crazy. They were fantastic at communicating and I think that if they were to have cleaned the place thoroughly it would have been nicer. We left a day early cause I just couldn’t take the musty smell anymore. The town itself is absolutely adorable and super close to some good eats in Sodus Point.

Small but enjoyable

The property is as listed. It’s a cute, snug, comfortably appointed older cabin. The outside spaces were really nice - was great to have coffee on the backyard table and enjoy the sun and breeze. The kitchen was well appointed and we found everything we needed. If I were to recommend any updates, it would be 1) replace the black high top table with something with leaves to allow for more seating space to eat. 2) replace the heavy plastic mattress covers with a waterproof cover that has a fabric or plush top so it’s more comfortable. Other than that, it was in a great location close to my relatives and at a good price. Oh, the owners were very nice to deal with and checked in with us to make sure all was well - that was appreciated!

All the comforts of home

The cottage was our quick getaway. Offering the comforts of home, we were pleased to see a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, cable and Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi was important as I’m a college student with summer classes. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking. The bathroom was huge! I could comfortably get ready for my day and not have to worry about clutter. The bedrooms were cozy. We liked the porch the best, as did our pups. We were able to admire the orchard across the street, the quiet after dark, and simply relax. We took advantage of being close to Niagra Falls and visited Hamlin Beach State Park in our way back. There is a beautiful park on the way to Sodus Lighthouse as well. We enjoyed the cottage and would love to visit again. (Oh, and the pull out bed couch was very easy to set up!)

About the host

Hosted by Tom & Shelly Baker

Host profile image
We are a working couple with grown kids and 2 dogs, and we love the country. Our families have been in the area for over a hundred years. Shelly's grandmother was even the Pultneyville Postmaster.
Our house right next door is an 1883 farm house, largely original, and with 7 acres with lake views.
We spend our spare time fixing up the place and refinishing antiques. A lot of the time we sit on the porch and, sit.
Like you we also love to travel, and do a lot of that.

Why they chose this property

This cottage was on the property next to our house when we bought it in 2012. In 2014 we finally got around to renovating it, and again in 2021. It had been migrant housing for many years. It's popular now as a jump off point for Rochester and the finger Lakes region, as well as for snow-birds coming back, with fishermen, and also with bicyclists.

What makes this property unique

The PHOC is close to everything, but quiet and peaceful. We have priced this to be gentle on your wallet, but with all that you need. We love meeting our new guests, and hope they feel like family and keep coming back.
