Epic Vacation Spot

This home is outstanding, and the location could not be better! The pictures do not do it justice - the view is stunning and the house is gorgeous (so much natural light) and sooooo comfortable. The location is a 20 second walk to a magnificent beach – one could not ask for more. Our hosts were nothing short of incredible hosts. They helped us with everything we needed. There was so much to do (boat trip, walking the beach, watching the sunset over the ocean, relaxing on the porch etc.) I can’t say enough good things about our stay. We highly, highly recommend this place. We will back!

Canceled at the last minute

We were really disappointed when the day we were planning to arrive at this property we received a notification saying our reservation had been canceled. This was a disappointing way to begin a vacation.

Secluded Beauty

We enjoyed our mostly private beach for the long weekend. The easy beach access makes the drive to this secluded area all worth it.

Perfect beach retreat! And the most friendly, welcoming staff. A real hidden gem!

Playa Tesoro is a perfect getaway destination. Fresh food, a private beach, great rum, and the most welcoming people. Thanks for the amazing memories!

Enjoyable and secluded

Great location and setting. It is a bit secluded which can be good or not, depending on what you are looking for. The miles of beaches are shared with almost nobody, and the ocean is friendly for adults and kids to swim, surf, boogey board, etc.. Not a lot of services nearby, but if you come prepared not an issue at all. Leon is close enough to make day trips but ideally you remain on the property to take advantage of the location.

Great stay at lonely beach

My girlfriend and I stayed for three nights at Playa Tesoro. It war wonderfull. The staff was very nice and cooked a great meal for us. There are only 3 bungalows there, so you have your own private beach. And - the best of all - we had seen a see turtle lying their eggs, right in front of the bungalow. I hope, they will not build to many bungalows nearby, because we liked the calmness. You really nead a 4x4 or any other "higher" car to get to the beach. Otherwise you have to take the taxi service.

My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights at the Purple bungalow last week. It was awesome. Thought I would get bored and want to keep travelling after two nights on the beach. Not the case. My daughter (and I) didn't even want to leave to do to Leon in the evening. Boogie boarding was a blast, swimming safe and easy. Tonnes of birds singing in the Mangroves. No bugs, nor mosquitos. Great on shore breeze to keep us cool on the terraza in the Nica heat. Project just getting rolling, but we loved it and the bungalow AC in the bedrooms was AWESOME!

Two brothers with a passion for the outdoors embarked on a journey in 2004 to discover an ideal surf break on a pristine beach, aiming to build their dream surf shack and escape the cold North American January weather. After an extensive search, they found their perfect spot at a beach in Nicaragua, which they named Playa Tesoro. Over the course of 14 years, they dedicated themselves to developing the best-in-country, fully private fresh water and electrical systems, owning all the equipment themselves. With over 32 years of experience as construction business partners in Canada, their expertise and dedication have made Playa Tesoro a true testament to their craftsmanship and vision.

Why they chose this property

Playa Tesoro offers a fantastic swimming beach with warm, shallow, salty water and stretches of two miles of sandy beach all to yourself. Whether you prefer a peaceful boat tour on the estuary or relaxing in a hammock on your terrace while listening to the soothing ocean sounds, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the serene environment.

Nicaragua is a remarkable country known for its wonderful people and offers a peaceful, secure, and beautiful environment. The Colonial City of Leon, often regarded as the university town of Nicaragua, boasts 11 universities, numerous language schools, and a vibrant music and arts community. It holds the distinction of being the second oldest town in the Americas after Panama City, showcasing stunning architecture. The people of Leon are known for their warmth, peacefulness, and kindness.

In summary, Leon is a safe, intellectually vibrant, and artistically rich community that warmly welcomes visitors with its charm and cultural offerings. The surrounding Leon state and area also offer a wealth of intriguing places to explore on day trips.

What makes this property unique

In Nicaragua, Playa Tesoro stands out for its unique location nestled between the Pacific Ocean and a freshwater estuary. It offers the ultimate swimming experience with sandy shores, gentle waves, and warm water, while also catering to surfers with breaks at the island's end. The estuary is a pristine sanctuary of natural beauty, featuring stunning mangroves, tranquil waters, and abundant wildlife.

Despite its secluded feel, Playa Tesoro is conveniently close to the Colonial City of Leon, Nicaragua's second largest city, just 45 minutes away. For added convenience, there's a small tienda on the island and a grocery store on the Salinas Grandes road leading to Playa Tesoro. This unique blend of seclusion and accessibility makes Playa Tesoro an ideal destination for both relaxation and adventure amidst Nicaragua's natural wonders.
