Beautiful beaches close by.

The home is nice. We loved the Scripture verses throughout the house. The home has some issues. The nearby beaches were the best part of the trip.

His Haven @ Brookings

This was a beautiful place to stay for the week we were there. Very comfortable and the woodstove & pellet stove kept the house very pleasant. Though it rained most of the week we were there it was a great time of playing games, puzzling, and just being together. Highly recommended and we loved the Scripture carved throughout the house. Gorgeous Cabin!

This was a great place, we really enjoyed it! It is a gorgeous cabin tucked up in the woods. We really enjoyed the large kitchen space and living room. And a special favorite for everyone in our group was the built-in breakfast nook! It was a great place to congregate and visit as people cooked or played games. We would all happily stay here again.

Just ok

There is no walking to the beach from this house unless you are an avid hiker. Furniture was old and house was musty. It wasn't cleaned very well. Heating the house was a little difficult. Pellet stove wouldn't stay lit so we brought in firewood for the wood stove.

Charming and Comfortable

This is a great house for a large or multi family stay. It was a charming and lovely setting and the beds were comfortable enough. Highlights for us were: —plenty of dishes and standard kitchen utinsels. —There were spices and oils that you would expect to find in a pantry on hand which saved us money going to the store. —Fire pit was fun and the yard was beautiful. —Hot water always seemed to be present when needed with six of us —location was fantastic. Away from the hustle and bustle, and 2 minute drive to whaleshead beach with soft sand and a low traffic. —Filtered water at the sink was very handy. There were a few issues that we had that couldn’t be resolved during our stay, but I hope are resolved for future guests. —Fridge went out. We bought supplies like ice cream and ice that were lost. The fridge stayed cold enough to keep milk from spoiling, but it was never cold. Called it in, but no repairman was available. —Large oven didn’t work ( there is a smaller oven that still worked). We brought stuff to make pie, so having a working oven was an important thing. Glad there was a backup. Overall, a good experience, but missed a little on the ability to solve problems quickly.

Many thanks to Lenona for her time and consideration. As one of our guests commented, "I love this place." Located in the heart of the Samuel Boardman Scenie Parkway, this home is great for a visit to the Oregon coast.

Many thanks to Lenona for her time and consideration. As one of our guests commented, "I love this place." The location is secluded and mostly above the fog line. We had a lovely little deer come visit every night and the gardens and grounds are filled with scriptures and messages about God and love. The kitchen has ample space for many cooks at once and there are two seating areas, easy access for all. The bedrooms are good sized with plenty of closet space and linens. Same with the bathrooms. Despite being heated by wood stove, the house maintained its warmth and we did not have to build a fire every night. Comfortable even early morning for our 5 am yoga practitioners (on the living room floor). If you are looking for a spacious getaway, in the Samuel Boardman Scenie Parkway (basically across the street from the Whale Beach Viewpoint and close to the Whale Beach picnic area, great beach walking and sunsets), then this is the place.

Loved it!

We absolutely loved our stay! This property had a storybook quality and we were sad to leave when our time was up. No WiFi, no dishwasher, and heat came from the pellet stove in the basement or the wood burning stove on the main level. The main light fixtures don’t provide a lot of light, but there are plenty of lamps around the house that add to the charm. If you choose to stay at this awesome cabin, make sure to take paper plates (save on some of the dishwashing!) slippers, and your own pillow. We would absolutely LOVE to stay here again!

Wonderful place to stay.

The property and house is absolutely beautiful and so welcoming and comfortable. I'd stay there again in a flash. The only problems we had, 2, the smoke alarm in the hallway welcomed with chirping but we were able to find replacement batteries, and, the toilet seat upstairs big bathroom had come unloose and was pinching tender inner thighs so I found duct tape and gave it a good secure taping. These are very minor glitches for an incredible place.

Wonderful location with Christian wood carvings on the steps and fences. A labor of love. Lots of kitchen supplies in the cupboards. Books, DVDs, Great for walks, quiet, away from the busy highway, yet close to the beaches. Could use better lighting.

Great for the price

The house was quite nice and overall we really enjoyed our stay. It was a bit antiquated: the fireplace for the main floor was not exactly efficient (it took one day to warm up the house with help of a pellet stove in the basement) and the kitchen was missing a few essentials (for ex. a working corkscrew or small bowls). However, given that the price likely reflects some of the shortcomings of the property I think it was adequate. We had plenty of space and the atmosphere was cozy. I would recommend it for family's that look for a lot of space and don't mind the extra work of keeping a fire going and doing the dishes.

Beautiful log cabin

The stay was wonderful. We had a blast. My only complaint was the lighting was not the best for quilting but we made it work. We had six women sewing so Windows were important for extra light. We will probably rent this again. The hose was clean and plenty of room for everyone.

Ambience

This was a lovely place to stay. Don't let the fact that no regular TV is there. Plenty of family friendly videos. But this location was ideal to help us relax. It was terrific for reading, studying, praying, thinking, creating art, or simply having great conversation. It has everything we needed, including way more space than we needed. Located across Hwy 101 from Whaleshead Beach, with its stunning views, it was a short drive into Brookings for shopping dining, antiquing, etc... I will most definitely stay there again.

Simply, Awestruck!

Our experience was great! We truly enjoyed the house, we went during Spring, it was quite cold during the evenings and it did take a while for the home to heat up. Our young adult sons had fun figuring out how to start the Woodstove. Thank you to Lenona for the walk thru on how to use the woodstove via text. We truly appreciate your help even though it was late at night, you were readily available for any question. Thank you! The house was clean, very accommodating in every way it was quite spacious. There were plenty of kind reminders to be mindful of conserving electricity when not in use. The homes interior is a timeless lodge that felt comfy and cozy. There are plenty of board games and fun family activities, there were lots of movies as well. Truly a very serene and peaceful place. As I recall our experience I sigh with wonderful thoughts. In the mornings I enjoyed opening the window upstairs to let the crisp fresh air in and sitting outside to listen to the creek, ocean and chirping birds, how tranquil it sounded. Our days were spent exploring the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridors and then back home for the evenings. We are grateful to have spent time at your home.

EXCELLENT!!

Our family of 7 stayed here for two nights with a group of 13. The entire property is absolutely peaceful. As soon as I stepped out of my car I was just in love with the whole property. Every single detail of the house and property is so intentionally placed. I loved every minute there and can not wait to return. Manager's Response: April, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! We're happy the homeowner was able to accommodate your group of 13. The owner would like to note for future guests that the maximum occupancy for this property is 8, but they don't mind occasional large groups if approved beforehand. Thanks for sharing your feedback! Family Haven for Peace and Ocean Beauty

Our family of six has enjoyed this vacation rental as a blessed family experience for over 18 years! We absolutely love coming to Brookings and exploring the beaches near this cabin (Lone Ranch Beach and Whaleshead Beach are our favorites), sand dunes, forest hikes and grassy hillsides with amazing ocean views. This cabin is perfect for individuals and families that want a log cabin haven located a few miles out of the center of town and within walking distance of Whaleshead Beach. It is a three story cabin with the main living area, one of the two master bedrooms, the woodstove, and the kitchen all on the second floor which is the entry level of the cabin. More bedrooms and bathrooms are on the other floors as well as a pellet stove on the bottom floor. The cabin is sufficiently furnished and has the necessities in the kitchen. The interior isn’t fancy with thrills but is simple and peaceful. It is clean and the owners are available to be reached if a need arises. The surrounding nature right outside the cabin is lovely and there is deck to sit on to soak it in. We have loved roasting hot dogs and making S’mores at the outside fire pit, playing active games with the kids in the large grassy yard, watching movies and playing board games as a family by the woodstove. We highly recommend experiencing Brookings with this cabin as your peaceful getaway homebase.

Peaceful retreat from it all!

Our family came up to Brookings for a long Labor Day weekend. This country home welcomed our family with plenty of room to stretch out in. We felt like we were staying in a rustic cabin in the woods but with the beautiful Oregon coast just a mile from the property. The best of both worlds! So peaceful and beautiful. Our family loved the evenings as we warmed up by the wood stove while sipping hot cocoa. Many memories were made and we can't wait to go back!

Fantastic quaint log cabin in the woods

We loved this stay. Absolutely loved it! Loved the Homely atmosphere. A log cabin.....mega-cabin more like it! Real wood Fireplace, and the lived in family feel made us feel very at home especially since we have a large family. For large families and with kids, not looking for the plastic feel of modern hotel amenities, this place rocks. We have fond family memories from our stay here, here and the proximity to the beach and to the myriad of trails is AWESOME. I've seen some other comments here, and these folks need to find a nice hotel with less features, and all their needs will be met, but good luck around here, standard run of the mill hotel fair only. Also, requires a little life experience to start a generic fire (former boy scout - semper paratus!!), but there are YouTube videos for the 'citified' and totally unskilled. BTW the signal for cell phone was actually good, so we socially posted galore from here :-) We sat on the wrap around porch on that big old home made swinging log bench and took in the birds, sounds, rustling trees. Almost no traffic on the road too so took some nice walks. We will be back, if and when there is availability. Oregon rocks!!

A Cozy, Comfortable and Homey Family Time Place

We loved our country vacation at this beautiful rustic log cabin, located on one of the most scenic stretches of the Oregon Coast: the Scenic Samuel Boardman Corridor. It was refreshing to have a quality vacation from wi-fi and screen, allowing our family to connect more through board games and exploring the amazing trails and beaches within less than 5 minutes drive of this property. We loved the country feel of quilts on beds and cozying up with a good book at the wood stove, the many restful benches placed for nature and bird life observation around the house and even washing dishes created opportunities for a slower pace from our rushed urban lifestyle. We loved the fact that we could cook wholesome meals from scratch and even bake cookies with the kitchen's eclectic collection. We can't wait for our next adventure at this comfortable and homey log cabin.

Lovely Rustic Log Home - Getaway Haven

This relaxing getaway home is surrounded by woods and peaceful greenery. It is very spacious and comfortable, and is a fantastic home-base for Redwoods and beach adventures. I grew up in the Redwoods, and my husband and I stayed here, along with our pastor and his wife, while showing them the Redwoods and the Oregon Coast for the first time. We were cozy and warm in this cabin, but had plenty of space for privacy when needed. The rustic and "homey" feel was just what we wanted--we had no desire for some fancy/shmancy hotel! It was so nice to prepare some of our meals and to pack lunches for our daily excursions, and not have to eat out every meal. Here's a tip--plan your meals, use Fred Meyer's "Click List" online to order, then have your groceries delivered to your car at the Brookings Fred Meyer store.
