Short Break

Property was an ideal base for us to attend a hockey tournament in Dumfries. It was quiet, had great views and everything we needed. So much better than staying in a hotel in the area. We were able to explore surrounding attractions including the brilliant Loch Arthur farm shop and cafe

Wet & windy stay

Unfortunately the weather was pretty terrible. The area does not have a lot to do in bad weather, particularly if you have a dog with you. The lodge was nice but is quite far from anything of interest. If you had good weather and just wanted to explore the local countryside and nearby coast it would probably be great. We got full check-in info while already on holiday the previous week. It mentioned we needed to bring our own “pot towel” and towels. We had towels but not a tea towel, so we bought one before arriving. There were actually 3 in the property.

Amazing!

Wow what a find! This property is wonderful, it really is a bargain price compared to others, perfect location with so much to do in the surrounding areas. The lodge is cleaned to the highest of standards and so homely and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Prior to arrival Louise was great with her communication and on arrival everything was perfect and the guest book was so useful with loads of suggestions for things to do. We had the most wonderful holiday, definitely booking again.

Lovely lodge - perfect & peaceful

Perfect peaceful lodge with everything you need inside and out to fully enjoy the picturesque area. Very clean and tidy. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had. Just down the road from fantastic Loch Arthur farm shop and cafe in Beeswing. Plus you can walk straight up from the lodge into the Mabie forest for a quick stroll or a long hike. All on your doorstep!

Average

The good impression about the location, cleanliness etc had to be weighed against the terrible experience of having to spend 2/6 nights without being able to contact the property manager through phone or email, unable to lock the front door, unable to get proper room heating or have hot water. Overall it was a below average experience.

Lovely relaxing stay

The lodge was in a great location for visiting all the local areas. It was comfortable, really clean & well equipped. So much nature to see just at the lodge, lots of bunnies and birds & some inquisitive cows 😊 we had a wonderful stay & would definitely stay again in the future. Also the book-in and check-in process was seamless and communication was great from the host.

Wonderfull first Family Vacation

We would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful time. It was our first family vacation. We spent almost 3 weeks in the lodge, along with our 21-month-old daughter and our dog. The lodge is very clean and well-equipped. It is beautifully situated in a small, peaceful cluster of holiday homes, right on the border of fields and the forest. We were regularly greeted in the morning by cows, who would stretch their heads over the fence into the garden to welcome us. The lodge is nestled in the heart of nature, yet very well connected to the nearby town of Dumfries, offering a fantastic starting point for a multitude of activities. The owner provides a whole basket of brochures, but it's also worth inquiring about current events at the tourist information in Dumfries. There's plenty to do for children. The Mabie Farm Park is less than 2 miles away, and our daughter absolutely loved it. Furthermore, everyone there is extremely dog-friendly, which touched us deeply and was truly heartwarming. We would be delighted to come back again and wish the owner all the best! Warm regards from Dennis, Farina, and Liandra with Labrador George.

Heron lodge holiday

The cabin was clean, located in quiet, rural area, located near the town Dumfries. Good location with plenty to visit, good dog walking places and lochs, although you need to use your car. There is a fantastic organic shop close by with fresh , local products. Cabin itself is very well equipped and comfortable for 4 people. Definitely would come back.
