About this property

Private & Cozy Home Away From Home

Ground floor suite in my beloved, peaceful home on a quiet street very close to everything! Fully self-contained, 1 bedroom; private entrance & as much of home as I could pour into it

Please email w/any questions regarding dates. It's a great, quiet, safe neighbourhood, with a 9-hole golf course only a few minutes walk away, along with a recreation centre, plus a 5km walking chip trail around the course. Hillside Shopping Centre is only a few minutes away. The #4 city bus offers transport to downtown within 15 minutes, and the stop is right around the corner. It's convenient to downtown, the University of Victoria, Royal Jubilee Hospital and Camosun College (Lansdowne Campus). Safe, street parking is available.

Warm, inviting, welcoming & charming. I hope you'll love it as much as I do. I hope you find it is a nurturing place for your stay.

*Just slightly higher than 6'1" ceilings. A few spots anyone taller will have to duck and one structural beam between the living room and kitchen that is sure to smart if you hit your head on it.

Grosvenor
Very quiet location. Comfortable bed. Water pressure & water temperature was accurate. Location was 10/15 minutes walking distance to shopping & groceries Bus was frequent in both directions and the 5 all day pass was very convenient for on & off touring. Bathroom was a bit small for larger individuals but lots of room in other areas of the sub basement apartment. The unit was well equipped for cooking & fridge was a good standard size. Owner was helpful in relaying information pertaining to bus changes & garbage collection days. Washer & dryer were available.

Thank you Rita for all the comforts of the lovely stay at your very comfy abode, We had everything we couldp have wanted and more. No need for a car with the excellent public transit system at our disposal just 5 mins walk round the corner taking us downtown in 10 mins and much further if wanted to other interesting places throughout Vancouver Island.

Cute cozy home away from home.
The place was wonderful. Low ceiling but not a problem for me at 5'3. Cozy bed. Good for walking to restaurants.

Comfortable and easy stay
Casa Grosvenor is a lovely place to stay when travelling to and around Victoria. It is a generous and comfortable one bedroom suite; the kitchen is well equipped; and it is centrally located with easy access to the major routes. It is a mature house in an older part of town; and so some local tolerances are in order: don't be too tall and drive a smaller car. In sum, Casa Grosvenor is easy to enjoy.

Excellent location
We very much enjoyed our time at Casa Grosvenor. Rita’s place was cozy and comfortable and it was easy to get anywhere from her place. Rita was extremely helpful and accommodating and very knowledgeable about things to do in Victoria and surrounding areas. She was so easy to communicate with and always answered any questions we had promptly. I will definitely refer any friends or family members to Rita’s place.

Comfortable with great location
Small but comfortable living room and bedroom. Kitchen was well equipped. Bathroom was small but adequate. Location was great and Rita was helpful and friendly. Parking on the street was good 95% of the time but can park in the driveway the other times. Clean quiet and economical. Two month stay was very nice. We really enjoyed doing many things in Victoria and we would stay here again next time we’re back on the island.

The accommodations met our expectation
Cozy, Quiet, Comfortable & Convenient......... Rita adds her own friendly and personal touch to make a stay here enjoyable. This location is central to transit and a large shopping mall. Though the bath is a bit small, it meets the need and the bed is VERY comfortable. The fact that Netflix is provided is an added bonus.

Great place to stay in Victoria
My daughter and I stayed four comfortable nights and look forward to visiting again. Rita was super nice and fun to meet. Victoria is such a great place to visit and Rita has provided the perfect place for us to stay when we visit. My daughter is 5’11” and was comfortable with the ceiling height, but said she wouldn’t want to be any taller.

Good and quiet location, great value for money
My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much: Good wifi, great shower water pressure, quiet street. Rita was very accommodating, allowing us an early check-in an late check-out. Ceiling is low indeed, with a beam at 1.75 m, but unlike a few previous reviews I did not find it to be big issue (I'm 1.78 m). Good access to bus (#4), or one could even walk to downtown. Great value!

Just love this place. Great location. Cozy unit
What fantastic accommodation. The unit is clean and has everything you need. Located in a nice quiet residential area. Close by transportation , restaurants and stores. Rita the owner is amazing, she makes you feel so welcome and makes sure you have everything you need. She also has lots of information on sightseeing and local restaurants. This is a great place to stay, as you can take the bus all around the Victoria area using a $5 day bus pass.

More than promised
The pros were it`s location and price, and a good quality bed. It`s cons were that there was no patio or outdoor relaxing space (as shown on pictures, but rather two metal chairs on a driveway next to a parked car), no fresh flowers on arrival (as promised), frequently no place for parking (owner takes driveway and street parking is very full), a dirty smelly fridge full of items left by others (including expired dairy), no laundry facility, 2 old towels per person for 2 weeks, and a hazardous beam at 5 ft 8 in the middle of the kitchen/living room area that could cause a serious head injury.

Great Cozy and Quiet Basement Suite
My wife and I were in Victoria for me to race a triathlon and visit the city. We wanted a quiet place because I wanted to get a good nights' sleep and had to get up really early for the race on Sunday. This unit is very quiet, cozy, and private. It's a full suite, way more room than any normal hotel room and has a full kitchen and living room area. Furnishings aren't luxury or anything but nicely kept up and clean. We loved it. The only thing to keep in mind is the low ceiling. I'm 6'4" (192cm) and my hair was brushing the ceiling. If you're any taller than me you won't be able to stand straight up. For most "normal" sized people , as my wife would say, it's no problem. The owner was super accommodating let us check in early because our ferry was in the morning, and let us come back in the afternoon on checkout day so I could have a shower after my race before leaving town. Lovely, stay.

Charming with all of the amenities to make our stay stress free. Centrally located - perfect!
Rita is awesome! Very genuine, thoughtful and considerate. She wanted to be sure we had everything we needed to enjoy and take in all of Victoria; right down to sharing her favourite places to eat out. Overall so terrific!! We visit Victoria frequently and would highly recommend this location for others.

About the host

Hosted by Rita Chand

Host profile image
I have been a host on this site for 10+ years and have loved meeting the people who stay and seeing those return again and again. It has been a pleasure for me to be a host and to make my guests trips to Victoria more enjoyable wherever possible.

Why they chose this property

My dad and i shared a dream of me owning my own home. He was retiring and wanted to help me with a project. I looked for the right house for years and found this one shortly after my dad passed away. An inheritance gave me the opportunity to buy my own home. And while my dad isn't here to help me with the "project", I know he'd be proud of what I've done here. Every time I have a chance to be creative and create a room the way I want, I get to spiritually high-five my dad.

What makes this property unique

After being a landlord for 15 years, and hosted International students and knew I wanted something new. Creating this space has been one of the things I'm most proud of. Every piece is put together carefully and came together so perfectly. I poured my heart and soul into this "project" and I've never been prouder of it.

I want people to come experience the comfort of home and feel nurtured and have a wonderful stay. I hope everyone who stays here loves it as much as I do. (and I'm pretty sure my dad would be proud of me too.)
