California Dreamin’ at its best, a spacious 2-bedroom, 1.5 bathroom apartment, spacious enough for maximum of 4 guests or an ideal get-away for just two. Sadly no dogs or extra people are allowed. Incorporated within the owners’ primary residence on the premises, this apartment, with a private entrance and enclosed yard, is surrounded by verdant, wooded scenery, creating a world of its own. While you may want to get away, you’ll still be able to enjoy all of the creature comforts: flat screen TV in each room with cable, wireless internet access and a kitchenette. While the kitchenette does not include a stove, it does have a griddle, microwave and other necessities for your convenience. There is a gas grill on the patio off the living room for outdoor cooking. Both bedrooms and the living room each have separate patios and make use of the private outdoor hot tub, relishing the canyon views. Half and half, orange juice, and coffee pods will be waiting for you in the apartment to get you started with your visit. Situated within walking distance of the beach, tennis courts and the charming town of Carmel, you will find fine and casual dining spots and you can shop ‘til your heart’s content. Located a short drive away is the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. This incredible rental apartment will provide you with all you need to have the perfect vacation.

Enchanting and Relaxing

My friend and I were on our annual getaway from our families. The place was wonderful and private. The garden was so enchanting and fun to walk down to the hot tub. One of the best well-equipped and decorated places I've stayed!

LOVELY Apartment!

From the moment we walked into this lovely cottage-like apartment, we felt right at home! Michele had not overlooked one detail. This thoughtfully decorated apartment was spotless and had all the necessities we wanted. The gift of fresh Summer peaches during our work week stay were amazing too. Highly recommend this property!

Enchanting in Every Way!

From the moment we drove down the driveway so cleverly decorated with mosaics, to a peek into her craft room with the wonderful red door and the angel welcoming us, we were delighted and charmed and captivated. The enchantment really begins when you enter the lovely, creative, whimsical, thoughtful and so beautifully arranged Toujour Maison she has created for every guest who is lucky enough to stay there. Then to fill your senses with the beauty and playful outdoors with the fabulous hot tub, is just like being given the most wonderful gift ever. I could spend days just taking in all Michelle has done for her guests to make them feel loved and welcome, spoiled and completely at home. It also gave me such a feeling of inspiration and renewal to do some new things in our own home to make it more beautiful and welcoming. Such a gift we got staying with Michelle. She makes you feel like you are her very favorite guests. We hope to come back many times and just wish we lived closer. If we could give her 6 and even more stars we would.

Dream vacation

Warm and inviting

Stayed for a week just before New year with my wife and two kids. Before getting there Michelle was an awesome communicator, and set us up for a great stay. When we pulled into the driveway we were promptly greeted by Michelle and her dog Ben. Both were great hosts and showed us around the apartment. The place is efficient and cozy with everything you could ever need neatly catalogued and labeled so it is easy to find. Near everything Carmel has to offer, the place served as a great home base for exploring Monterey and Carmel. We all had such a great time and were sad to leave. My boys are already asking when we can come back. Hope it is soon.

Home away from home

If you are looking for a place in Carmel By The Sea, look no further! This apartment is clean, quiet, well stocked, comfortable beds and the best hostess ever!! Michele is one of a kind and will go out of her way to be sure that all your needs are met. The gardens are breath taking and the hot tub was private, clean and relaxing. We will definitely stay here again.

Convenience, Peace and Great Hosts

My adult daughter and husband visited from Minnesota. They had spent their honeymoon in Carmel and, during same, had enjoyed a private tasting at Parsonage Winery in Carmel Valley. Their visit was timed to permit us to attend the annual Parsonage Member Party, always a great event. We also enjoyed experiencing the Bypass Trail on HWY 1 at the bridge that is in the process of replacement and then a ride on rented electronic bikes down 1 to McWay Falls and back north, with a lunch stop at Nepenthe. The cottage was perfect for our needs. Convenient to Carmel proper, Carmel Valley and our adventure south. Many reviewers have already commented favorably on the grounds behind the property. I can only echo their sentiments. In a word, particularly for Carmel properties, amazing. The property was also spotless, not always the case with the rentals we have experienced. Some or all of us enjoyed the hot tub each evening after sunset. Love the lighting Michele. As other have also mentioned, Michele was also great. Always ready with recommendations, pleasant conversation and a smile, and we all appreciated the welcome amenities. One reviewer mentioned overhead noise during their stay that disturbed their sleep. For the record, while we heard a few footsteps during the day a couple of times, we could have heard a pin drop at night had we not been so deeply asleep on the cottage's comfortable beds. A small point to note, which for us was more a matter of humor than importance, the 1/2 bath that is off the kitchen has a toilet, good lighting and a nice mirror, but no sink. We jokingly nicknamed it the quarter bath, but with four adults in the cottage, it was a very nice convenience. There is no question that we would try to stay here again with any two couple group. Very, very comfortable. Thank you again Michele and Bob for a wonderful stay!

Amazing!

Our family had a great time at Toujours Maison. From the cookies, bread and wine to welcome us, to the special surprises around every corner of the gardens, our family was thrilled with our stay. Our young children are convinced that there is some sort of fairy magic hidden away in their secret garden! The home away from home is well stocked with glasses, dishes, and even extra towels, beach gear, books and games for all ages, so we had everything we needed and more. We've been home only a day, but we miss Carmel By the Sea already! Thank you, Michele, for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Natural wonder of the VRBO world

The property could not be more beautiful. You are nestled away on a woodland hillside with an amazing view and numerous seating areas to take it all in. The apartment is simply a lower level of a house with all of the amenities and privacy you could hope for. It easily accommodated four adults and one infant with the two bedrooms. Michelle truly defines hospitality in her treatment of her guests. We had cookies, fresh strawberries, and wine waiting for us upon arrival. It's a 20 minute stroll to downtown and maybe another 5 minutes to the beach from there. We enjoyed every minute of our time in Carmel and the only regret we have is that we couldn't spend more time simply relaxing at our VRBO. If you are visiting Carmel, this is most definitely where you want to stay!

Amazing unit and property

Michele and Bob spared no detail in decorating so tastefully this unit. It really is amazing. Upon arrival the wine and the food were a very special touch. Plenty of EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a stay at this place. Even plastic wine (or water) cups and other plastic cups to take beverages out to the hot tub. The hot tub is amazing, huge for one couple, the outdoor lighting at night out there is spectacular. Free aquarium passes are a huge bonus. The beds are super comfortable and you really feel warmth when inside this place. Our only complaints and the only reason not 5 stars were the small shower (someone larger than 5'10" and 175lbs might have a very challenging time), and the unit is below an upstairs unit so the early knockings from the floor above begin around 5:30-6:00am and continue throughout the day making it difficult to sleep in or to sleep in general (this is coming from a morning person & using earplugs), it also made it difficult to fully relax if inside unit during day hours. Probably would get a different unit based on this if we go to the area again. But the beauty of the property and the surrounding area cannot be denied. Very clean and again 5 stars for the inside and outside of the unit. If you can sleep through loud noises you should have no complaints!

Our stay at Toujours Maison was AMAZING! Betty & Bob were such gracious hosts.

Our studio was located on top of the hill from downtown Carmel. We did walk into town enjoying all the views on the way but also had 'Uber' within 2-3 minutes at our disposal anytime! When we arrived we were greeted with homemade fresh hot bread, milk, oj, cookies,sea salt caramels & bottle of wine w/fresh flowers! Michele also had every thing you could possibly need plus some!! She put so much thought in every inch of our studio from the lovely flowers & plants to cozy robes & jacuzzi towels for each guest She is an amazing decorator with a never ending imagination of delightment! Betty also created a lovely Valentine banner which I will treasure for many Valentine's Days to comeAlthough Betty & Bob were close by for any of our needs, every space provided our own privacy from our lovely private patio, outdoor lighted patio w/bbq, jacuzzi & many other beautifully decorated area's. We want to personally thank Betty & Bob for making us & our guests feel so special as their guests

Lovely!

We had a lovely stay! Michele has a very comfortable apartment behind her home that is well accessorized – even has heated mattresses and free aquarium passes! Super private beautiful backyard - wish the weather had been better so we could have utilized it even more. It is a very short drive to downtown Carmel; it not a super walkable path but it was about a $7 Uber trip each way. We would definitely come back if we needed two bedrooms again.

A comfy personal touch

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Michele and Bobs Carmel abode. I was welcomed warmly by Michele with a fresh baked loaf of bread and bottle of wine on a cold evening arrival. The apartment is very well appointed with a big comfy sofa pillows and blanket and I slept very well with a lovely oak tree wood to view at morning time. Heated towels and the fridge with juice and milk were a nice touch. The location is up from town but a great place for daily walks. I would return

A great romantic get away!

Michelle, the owner, was so easy to work with before, during, and after our stay. She was very accommodating. We arrived at night with wine, cookies, and freshly baked bread waiting for us. Michele recommended several restaurants close by for our weekend. All were great recommendations. A little long but beautiful walk into town and back from town. Don't forget the flashlights because there is little streetlighting. The whole apartment is tastefully decorated, very well maintained. Very comfortable for 2 (up to 2 couples). We enjoyed the private outside hot tub and lounging area. So peaceful and quiet. We also appreciated the free and easy-to-use aquarium passes. We are looking forward to coming back as soon as we can. Our new favorite and convenient place to stay in Carmel/Monterey.

The place was incredible, it was very comfortable and had every convenience you would ever need.

Staying at Michele's was wonderful. The area is absolutely gorgeous and Michele was so incredibly nice. She showed us around the her place which was phenomenal and very private. From the very nice bathroom with a walk in shower and vanity to the two bedrooms and the outdoor jacuzzi, it was an awesome place to stay. Michele also had a huge binder full of all the local eats and places to see and gave us multiple recommendations on what to do and where to go in the are of beautiful Carmel-by-the-Sea. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay and plan on coming back! There is so much to do in the area and even at her place we'll have to make a second trip!

Lovely, spacious, cozy and cottage-like

My husband and I had a lovely three days at Michelle's cozy, roomy, cottage-apartment. Both she and her husband, whom we spoke to a little while, were lovely. Both interior spaces and outdoor spaces (including a hot tub) were awesome. When we walked into the ground floor apartment, we were greeted at the half wall kitchen island with a bottle of wine, and homemade cookies in a jar. Michelle made a large homemade baked bread and had stocked the refrigerator with milk, freshly picked strawberries and OJ. The small, but well organized kitchen had shelves, cupboards, drawers and cabinets with plenty of supplies for coffee and tea, dishes, wine glasses, coffee cups, and other cooking utensils/equipment. The kitchen sink was an (Italian-style) painted ceramic piece of art with counter and there was a Keurig coffee maker, electric tea kettle, microwave, a convection/broiler/toaster oven and an electric skillet for any cooking we would want to do. A tiny (2nd) bathroom and door was off the kitchen. The bedrooms (2) were spacious and beautifully decorated with plenty of storage space, lighting for reading before falling asleep, and each opened up to its own outdoor patio with artsy and whimsical outdoor decor and seating. The main bathroom had everything we could have needed and more (including a heated towel rack, great shower, large vanity with sink, adjustable make-up mirror on the wall, separate sit down make-up vanity with mirror and chair, not to mention a cabinet of additional towels and many other essentials we may have needed). The living room/dining area was roomy for the two of us and four people would have been comfortable in it. Movie DVDs, books, tourist brochures, maps of the area and surrounding areas and games were available. Michelle had a notebook to welcome us and acclimate us to the apartment and the area. Also in the notebook, she lets you know she has passes for the Monterey Aquarium and we took advantage of them. Additionally, there are lots of outdoor areas for sitting, grilling; including a winding step path with a red safety railing, beautifully landscaped all the way down. When you arrive and drive down the long driveway to the house and its rental apartment, you see a garden full of beautiful plants along the way and end at Michelle's art studio with its bright red door with a huge basket planter full of succulent plants; a most welcoming touch. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming!

We had a lovely time here. Michelle is very welcoming and the extra treats she gives you when you arrive are very thoughtful. The house is so nice inside and out with little special touches everywhere! The outside grounds and patio are a lovely place to sit or enjoy a bbq. I couldn't recommend this place higher and we would definitely come stay again.

What we especially love about our house is that even though it is close to town we have a large property with a forest views and wonderful sunlight in the back yard. Great hot tub in woodsy setting, apple tv with access to free Netflix & Hulu as well as 20 premium movie channels.
