Fay Cottage - Convenience in the heart of La Jolla village of La Jolla
So much close by! This small cottage is located behind an owner-occupied 1920's bungalow in the heart of La Jolla Village. The ocean and local pocket beaches are a 10 minute walk. The local grocery store, fine dining and casual restaurants and movie theater are within a 2 block walk. Bus stop on the closest corner goes to the beach and the center of UCSD campus. Bike rentals are next door. The cottage is located adjacent to 2 schools, so during school hours children's recess and science lessons can be heard. In the evening, it's very quiet and nearby homes are all single story for privacy. Full kitchen and large closets. Please note that the cottage has high speed internet but not cable. There is a smart tv with Apple TV for streaming.
The cottage features a full bathroom, full kitchen and a garden patio for outdoor seating and dining. The owner lives in the front unit, and is happy to host couples looking for a quiet escape.
The cottage is ideal for a sabbatical or a month-long stay for couple looking for time out of the winter cold. The closet in the bedroom occupies an entire wall and is outfitted with ikea drawers, shelves and hanging rods.

The location is perfect! You can walk everywhere, tons of restaurants and grocery store are very close. Fay cottage is very comfortable, private and safe. We enjoyed meeting Leigh, our host. A most enjoyable place to stay!
We stayed here during a large family gathering in La Jolla and the cottage provided the two of us a great home base close to all the action of La Jolla and family. The cottage was clean, with a comfortable bed, clean linens, plentiful towels and full kitchen. Communication was excellent, as was all the material left for us about things to do and how to use the cottage. Wonderful stay.
Fay cottage is a cute bungalow tucked in the back of the owners home. It’s offers a nice and quiet outdoor space great to relax in after sightseeing. The bedroom closet has great storage bins. All in all a great space and I would high recommend Fay Cottage.
We had a super nice stay in such a cute location in La Jolla. Pretty well stocked kitchen, plenty of space for two people, and the host was very communicative. The kids at nearby schools were a little noisy in the mornings, but it wasn't too disruptive.
Fay Cottage was just perfect for our stay in the San Diego area. It’s located in La Jolla, a 10 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to many sites, shopping, and restaurants. From the cottage, it’s a short drive to San Diego sites, Coronado, and coastal beaches north of San Diego. Out host was on site and was so helpful. The cottage is clean with a well stocked kitchen. The best was the large bathroom, closet storage and convenient washer and dryer. We loved our stay and did not want to leave,
We loved staying at the cottage. It was very clean, accommodating and had all the amenities. The owner was the BEST to deal with and very flexible and accommodating to our needs. Great place!
Very nice little cottage, with excellent host. The beach is great, especially seeing all the surfers of every age. Great restaurants to choose from in La Jolla, and the idea of free parking on the streets is rare these days. Would certainly consider a repeat visit.
If you’re going to spend time inside while in La Jolla, this property is perfectly comfortable. Great bed, spacious bedroom, close to everything - cove, restaurants, etc. Aa a frequent visitor to La Jolla, I highly recommend.
Leigh the host was super nice. I felt very comfortable in her rental. Very clean with everything you need is available. Great location to La Jolla restaurants and beach. I will definitely return for my next stay. Thx you so much Leigh.
Spacious cottage, well stocked kitchen. Owner available if needed, lives on property. Grocery store 1.5 block walk. Many restaurants in walking distance. We walked 6-7blocks to public beach access several times
The cottage is a perfect size for 2 and is located in a perfect spot. Walkable to many restaurants and the cove. Also close to the tourist downtown.
Parking beside the cottage made it ideal as we did not have to hunt for a parking space.
I’d definitely return so I hate writing a positive review.
We have just returned from a month long stay at Fay Cottage. The cottage was clean, spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. Location is absolutely perfect - 5 minute walk to supermarket and a 15 minute stroll to the shops and restaurants yet at night it is so peaceful you are assured of a good nights sleep. The dedicated covered parking is also a huge bonus. Leigh is a lovely lady and host and we throughly enjoyed our stay.
Very nice accommodation. Bed very comfortable. Unit is spacious. Loved having our own parking space.....very convenient. The owner is very nice and accomodating...provided us with several items to use when we hosted some family members for a Christmas get together (tablecloths, folding table, some baking pans). Loved how convenient it was - we could walk everywhere.
Very clean. Nice kitchen stocked with essentials. Ice maker in fridge was not working, but that was a minor issue. Bit of noise from school next door, but nice quiet evenings. Bed very comfortable. Plenty of storage space in bedroom and bathroom well stocked with towels, etc. The parking spot was a BIG PLUS. Cottage well situated within walking distance to restaurants, etc. Thank you, Leigh, for a pleasant stay.
Hard to find location to park car & enter gate to property. Once inside, though, a very pleasant small cabin. Outfitted thoughtfully with plenty of storage, full basic kitchen, outdoor seating area & small gas grill. Beautifully clean. Very private location tucked into the core of La Jolla. Very short walking distance to groceries & restaurants. Convenient walk to the La Jolla Open Aire Market on Sunday mornings.
If using a map app, enter 945 Pearl Street. This is the building to the left of the narrow alleyway off Pearl Street into the property & parking. Do not lose heart as you go down a narrow alley in back of stores and restaurants with some trash dumpsters. You will come to a Montessori school on the right just before the covered carport. During the day, you can hear the joyful kids playing outside & kid talk about shapes, colors and making a line :-). Owner lives in adjacent property, is a great host. Moose the dog is friendly and may welcome you with announcement barks.
Great location for walking to many nearby, reasonably priced and good restaurants
My wife and I just spent 10 days renting this cottage. The owner, Leigh, was very accurate in her description of this property which had all the necessities we needed, was very clean, and very well located. We ate all our dinners out because who wants to cook on vacation. There were many reasonably priced restaurants nearby with good food and ambience like Cafe Milano and Bernini’s - and just 5-10 minutes walking distance away. If you want to eat quickly, cheaply and love fish, El Piscador was excellent and nearby. Bistro du Marche, a more expensive eating place is a French restaurant and the closest one to the cottage and a nermere 4 minutes walking distance. We enjoyed breakfasts at Harry’s which was just around the corner. For a high end restaurant, we absolutely loved Eddie V’s and most highly recommend its food, level of service, and view of the coast.
Notable things about the cottage were the tons of storage and hanging space in the bedroom. Also, the kitchen was well stocked and has a 5 burner stove and double door refrigerator/freezer with ice cube maker in the door. There were plenty of paper products. The tv worked well. The sofa was comfortable and so were the dining chairs. The bathroom was very well lit and clean.
There was nothing luxurious about this place and there were no nice views to behold through any its windows but it readily met our expectations and offers value for the money. I highly recommend it.
we loved our stay here - absolutely wonderful location in la jolla, easily walkable to the water, beaches, great cafes/food, and parking was a huge plus!! place was very clean and our host was so responsive to any help we may have needed without being intrusive at all. excellent all around and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again next time.
The place is very nice. Comfortable size for 2 people, good amenities. Kitchen is sufficient. It was a sweet location, Walking distance to groceries, coffee, some decent restaurants and the waterfront. We hardly drove anywhere once we were settled in....and there is a nice little freindly dog on the premises.
An extremely well equipped one bedroom unit + great outdoor space for reading and eating..
Leigh was a very helpful and organized owner. The location was amazing. We could walk to the beach and numerous stores and restaurants. during my 4-week stay. I highly recommend it.
My husband and I spent 2 weeks in this charming, very well appointed and equipped cottage. Nothing missing here! Location was walkable to most La Jolla establishments, as well as the beach. Owner, Leigh, was on hand for any questions and very helpful . A little noise from children at nearby school playing outside, but not really a problem.

Why they chose this property
This cottage is so close to so much in La Jolla.
What makes this property unique
The cottage has its own parking spot, laundry and private garden. Schools nearby during the day and hustle and bustle of downtown but very quiet and private in the evenings for such a central location.
