Quaint Vacation Home just minutes from Baddeck and Gaelic College

The Wooden Helm vacation rental is located only 8 minutes from the Village of Baddeck, 7 minutes from the Gaelic College and entrance of the Cabot Trail, this lovely home sits on a wooded 15 acre lot just off the Trans Canada Highway. From the living area and overlooking the deck, enjoy beautiful views of the apple orchard and fresh water pond.

This property offers an open concept living area, fully equipped kitchen and dining room, 4 bedrooms (2 queen beds and 2 double beds) and 2 bathrooms. There is comfortable seating for 8 people. The master bedroom with a queen size bed has lovely views of the pond and yard. The walk-out fully finished basement includes a living area, two bedrooms, (one with a double bed and a crib/toddler bed and the other with a queen bed) laundry and a bathroom equipped with a shower. This property is ideal for families or larger groups. The home is also equipped with two newly installed heat pumps for your comfort.

Unlimited wireless internet is included. For your entertainment, a smart tv has been provided. Features include youtube, Netflix and many more. A Netflix account is available for use during your stay.

Enjoyable stay
House well set up for the 6 of us, The property was interesting with a number of hidden gems which we turned into a scavenger hunt to find 12 items. Fresh eggs left for us on checkin both chicken & duck, delicious. Thanks very much.

Baddeck stay
House was exactly as pictured and in a great location. Owner very attentive. I noticed I had seen a review suggesting a bbq. It was there. Beautiful view and colors. Note the house is older and the floors are squeaky. The 2 nd bathroom down stairs is small. Worked out for 2 couples. Would be great for a family with kids. Would not recommend for 3-4 couples unless you want to share bathrooms and have small beds. For 2 couples we each had a nice queen bedroom.

This is how all hosts should run their business!
Each summer we’ve been traveling and staying at VRBO’s and A**B**’s. I We have experienced close to 30 plus homes so I deem myself a novice expert. The house does not have to be the most beautiful house to earn 5 stars. The location does not have to be the most desirable to earn 5 stars. To earn 5 stars across the board one just needs cleanliness, organization, comfort and the items you would have at home. It’s also important to have a host that is engaging and available if needed. The original concept of VRBO’s was your home away from home. This is that. Kristine has checked all the boxes. She was very engaging and available. She put up with my numerous pictures and silly stories. As a bonus it was fun to walk the property and to find a little surprise hidden in the back! Only downside this summer, and not the fault of the owner, is that everywhere we traveled in Cape Breton the deer flies were relentless. The location was great as it was central to explore the island. Out of all the towns we visited, Baddeck was our favorite in Cape Breton. Although, the house sits on the highway it is far enough back and with the views of the pond and woods we never really noticed the highway. (If that is a concern of anyone’s.) I always carry my trail cam on my trips and her wildlife fully cooperated in giving me entertainment! I would not hesitate to book Kristine’s property again. I just want to thank you Kristine for sharing your home with us! 🦊

Comfortable, Clean House near Baddeck
Great for our family of 7- space is comfortable, providing all we needed for 4 nights- plenty of towels and convenient laundry room. Kitchen well stocked for meal prep. Loved watching the hummingbirds at the feeder positioned at the family room window.

Great getaway!
Kristine was an amazing host! The house and property were exactly as posted. Our crew are long time friends, out for an adventure. Perfect spot for large families, or a group of friends. The kitchen was well stocked. Beautiful views, Just minutes from Baddeck, it's quite secluded, quiet and serene.

Amazing! The perfect place for us!
This place was a home away from home. It had everything we needed and was located a short drive from town and amenities. Also the gate way to the Cabot trail. The property is just lovely. Massive yard with fruit trees, a garden and a big pond you can paddle in the canoe/kayak provided. Plenty of space for our children to roam and explore. We even got to pick fresh strawberries from the garden... a big hit! The host Kristine was very responsive and thoughtful. We met her mother and husband who were very kind! We HIGHLY recommend this place, especially to families. Thanks so much for having us stay

8 of us (lifelong friends) stayed at this property last weekend. It was a wonderful experience. The place was very clean, well equipped with everything you need (towels, dishes, and even extras). Great place to stay
Due to the hurricane Dorian we arrived one day earlier and everything was ready for us including power! Great location close to the town and very clean accommodations. Kristine answered all our questions promptly. The property was beautiful with a lake and kayak. The only disappointment was that there was no tv but Netflix and YouTube kept us entertained. We would highly recommend this property.

A great location for our Hiking Trip!
The home was a lovely retreat for the hiking trip that 6 of us, ladies, were on in August. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and the property was well cared for. The bathrooms were perfect, with lots of towels and very clean. It was a nice place to enjoy after hiking in the beautiful Cape Breton National Park. Kristine was responsive to any extra needs that we had and quickly provided the items. She was delightful and extremely helpful in making suggestions which enhanced our enjoyment of the week. The nearby town of Baddeck was charming.

Great family place
This location was very central to everything we wanted to do in Cape Breton - we just wish we had more time! The host was quick to respond to my emails, very informative, and kindly left toddler books and stuffed animal which made our 3y.o. granddaughter feel very welcome. The house came complete with everything you would want in your own home, with lots of space for the multiple couples of our family. An added attraction were the multiple hummingbirds who visited just outside the door a number of times each day. I would definitely rent this again for a large family group and recommend it with more than 5 stars!

Super quick response host
Kristine was very nice and answered all questions quickly, and everything was clean and nice as it described on the internet. The only reason I gave 3 on the location is that after hours on trying to find the property due to mis calculated by GPS, we finally found it, exhausted and tired at first night. Given three different addresses were quite confusing. I wish we were instructed by only address (the third one from her).
