Best location in the heart of Glenwood...see inside our BIG small town history
Stay in downtown Glenwood Springs just steps from Glenwood's best restaurants, nearly every activity is within easy walking distance. This 1500 sq ft, 2 bedroom unit built in the late 1800's is located upstairs in what was once the Palace Hotel. It has been completely renovated with some of the old things still in tact. Look at the doors; they are the original ones from the 1890's with the room numbers still on them. Doc Holiday is rumored to have stayed here. If you are coming from the Front Range consider taking Amtrak as the train station is only 2 blocks from the Watersweeper Loft. No hassles with Glenwood Canyon.
Going up the stairs you will find yourself on a great, large deck with a stone top table ,firepit and BBQ grill. Go thru the door into the enclosed sun porch and sitting area. Enter the main door and you are in the old hotel hallway. On the left is western bedroom with a queen bed. On the right is the master bedroom with a king bed occupying what was once two hotel rooms. Next is the bath and laundry. There is a Soaking tub and vanity in one room and a shower and vanity in another room. In the front you will find a complete kitchen with everything you could need and the dining room-living room area to complete the wonderful Loft with a great blend of old and new. The unit is registered with the City of Glenwood Springs and is in compliance with the short term rental regulations. Glenwood Springs Permit #18-047

We loved staying here! It was a really fun place with tons of character and we were very comfortable the entire time. It was close to everything in town and we enjoyed everything about it. We would definitely stay here again!
Perfect location to walk to and from Amtrak train station, to and from restaurants and shops, and also Glenwood Hot Springs and pretty 1 mile walk along the river to and from Iron Mountain Hot Springs.
Location can't be beat. Only real complaints were the radient heater was pretry noisy throughout the night. The glass patio door was very hard to unlock. Looked like the handle was missing a screw which mad it a bit loose and the key would not turn. Took about 10 minutes to get the door unlocked. Other than that, the property was comfortable beds were great and the location was fantastic. 5 min walk from all of down town. So much you can do without having to drive. Highly recommended.
We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this loft..It is in such a perfect location, it was really nice to walk everywhere & the parking spot is a great bonus!!We enjoyed looking over the town & watch the snow flurries in the morning. Our relaxing weekend was so so so perfect!!Thank u!!!!
Fantastic location in the heart of Glenwood Springs
We took the train from Denver to Glenwood Springs. It was a 2-block walk from the train station to the property. No rental car needed for the trip. Perfect for what we wanted.
This was a comfortable, beautiful, and cozy property with a fantastic location. Walking distance to food, shops, hiking. It was fun trying to imagine this property back when it was a hotel.
Central location, walkable to all the things, nicely appointed kitchen
Note: make sure you understand there is 1 toilet
Spacious kitchen. Nicely setup with enough room for a couple folks to cook together. Good collection of spices and other things you might have forgotten.
The dining room sits at least 6 and great space to enjoy a meal.
The tv area is also comfy, they have cable for tv watching or music.
The wifi is via the store below and gets a little weaker in the bedrooms, i'm not sure how it would do if you wanted to work from there, although the views out the front windows we be amazing.
The bedrooms were well appointed, nice blankets and comfy mattresses. Just a little dark. One bedroom the door latches well, but there is no glass over the door. Second bedroom the door won't latch closed. Lots of storage for clothes.
Heat is by radiator. Once it warms up, it is quite cozy.
Parking can be tight depending on the size of your car and if there is a second car back there. We backed in, and were able to exit pretty easily.
Bring slippers or house shoes (which i like to do anyway) the hosts request that no shoes be worn in the house.
All in all an enjoyable stay for a quick girls weekend! Walkable to iron mountain via river trail (30 min). 20 min to Doc Holiday's grave site and other trails are close by and you don't need a car.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Great location, but needs attention.
This property may be the best location and had some very nice features, comfortable beds and a nice gathering room and communication with the owners was easy. However, there are several neglected items that make it difficult to offer a good review. The unit shows a lot of wear and tear; dirty carpet, nicked up walls, an unhinged closet door, poor lighting (especially in main bedroom), entry stairs with bird droppings, bedroom doors that don't close and a very funky bathroom situation that could be partially remedied with a door to the toilet that actually goes to the ceiling. We didn't expect perfection as we understood this is a very old building, but these are simple things that help make guests more comfortable. With a little attention, this place could have lived up to the description that sold us on selecting it, but not this time.
The property has been so nicely renovated and furnished, it was a pleasure staying. Very comfortable in living areas and bedrooms, 2 bathrooms one with tub, one with shower. One toilet for the unit. The living room looked out over the main street, interesting cafe's. There is a large deck in back, very nice for evenings. The long stairway from back alley where you park up to the loft needed cleaning attention. That is the only reason for the 4 rating. We had some trouble getting TV's going, but the owners were very responsive and helpful. Pay close attention to the checkin/checkout process. Going out the back alley is a 2 minute walk to the very very nice downtown area with shops, lovely boutique right under the loft, several great restaurants - historic saloon, outdoor casual as well as fine dining. Overall, this was just a great find, one I would use again and definitely recommend!
Beautiful old world details that retain the charm of what was once a historic hotel. Very comfortable beds! The best part of this property though was its location! Just on the other side of the building is the pedestrian plaza with multiple places to eat, shop or meet friends for a drink. Thrilled with our choice on this one.
Girl scout motto: Come prepared with soap, toilet paper, think essentials--not supplied by host. BVRO *Bad vibes running overtime--did not receive address and as a 1st timer with this site, did not know how to contact host --no email-not even in spam! Spent about a hour walking through the "local camp ground" asking neighbors and finally texting host --who did respond quickly! Upon finding property, hostess declared "That's VRBO's responsibility" No sympathy for the weary there! Beautiful views of the mountains and close proximity to everything! Asked help firing up the pit and got help. Next evening there was little propane left, so called host--hearing "We''re 45 minutes away and can't come. Must be the fault of the previous people." Final blow-toilet paper was running out. We heard "We are not obliged to take care of that." Unit is part of a restored hotel but needs lots of repairs --worn rugs, light bulbs missing, electric connection in small toilet area not working. Believe the owners are engaged elsewhere and we did not appreciate the "you're to blame" attitude" even though they were helpful in some areas. Wonder if someone coming from DIA would be stuck in the same situation--and have to run to City Market for those essentials! Loved the camping site though! Consider how to park in the space next to the BMW--tight squeeze, but convenient next to the pubic parking lot.
I do not like to leave negative reviews but in this case we were mislead. This listing is for 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. The definition of a bathroom always includes a toilet regardless of whether there is a shower or tub.
The set up in this unit is:
**1 "bathroom"(washer/dryer, toilet in a "closet", sink in one room and an additional room with a sink and a jetted tub.
**1 washroom with a sink and shower
So only1 toilet and 1 shower to share for 4 of us. While the 1 shower is no big deal, the 1 toilet is awkward and not what we paid for. I would never have rented this unit had I known it only had 1 toilet.
The unit is in a GREAT location right on the main street with lots of great places to walk. We did not have any noise issues and the living/kitchen areas are comfortable and clean.
The "back bedroom" is well lit but hot so the guests in that room had to leave their door open when sleeping even with the air conditioning on high.
The "front bedroom" is comfortable-ish. We had to unscrew the overhead bulbs bc the fan is on the same switch and it was too hot without the fan on leaving the room really dark. The closet door another guest earlier said was off its rail was still off its rail. The bed is super soft.
Back porch is lovely but so hot in the afternoon its not useable.Outisde stairs needs a good cleaning/sweep. The bottom step on the top set of stairs is not attached-not safe.
Overall a cute place that needs some love & a new listing of:
"2 bed, 1 bath, 1 washroom"
Perfectly located in heart of all downtown activity with great shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Spacious with great views off back porch area. Would definitely rent again!!
The unit was super convenient because it was in the downtown area with easy walks to the hot springs pool, restaurants, shops, and playgrounds. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. Make sure you understand there is only one toilet which you share but there are 3 bathroom sinks. The a/c is pretty good and cooled the bedrooms down some before we went to bed. Even with the traffic and bands playing, we were not bothered by this noise at night. Great unit!
The location is outstanding for restaurants, walking to the hot springs, etc. A few minor improvements would make things much easier. Instructions for operating the AC would be nice as our first night was quite hot until we figured this out. Also, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the entire unit, there was no soap to clean dishes and no shampoo or soap in the bathrooms. All minor things but I found myself running to the grocery store at 10:30 to get more TP and other small household items that all previous VRBO rentals have stocked.
The check-in was easy and seamless. Having dedicated parking was fantastic! You could not ask for a better location. In the heart of the old town area with lots of restaurants, coffee, and drinks readily available. Very close to the Amtrak station. Easy walking distance to the Hot Springs. The kitchen was well appointed, and it was very roomy with good privacy for people. The balcony was fantastic to sit outside and sitting in the living room, watching the main street action and listening to the music outside really is a home run! We will definitely be back.
Overall great stay. Cute little place and a great location! Master door doesn’t really close I would stay with family but not another couple. Didn’t know about the sunlight in the room where the kids stayed and it made it hard to sleep. Also the swamp cooler air conditioner wasn’t what I was expecting. Thanks for a great stay :)
Cute place right on the main street near restaurants and shops. Loved the walkability! Dedicated parking space in back near the entrance. Stocked with good cookware and dishes. Really nice dining room table and chairs. Comfortable beds with clean linens. Steep old steps to entrance - hold onto the railing. Unusual setup of 3 bathroom sink areas and one toilet; step up to shower a bit sketchy, some maintenance needed (light switch in bathroom had broken button so had to poke a tiny part with your fingernail to turn on the light and bedroom closet door off the hinges), but owner is planning renovation and that will be fixed. Met the owner working in a shop downstairs - very friendly.
We had such a great time. Great location, right in the middle of everything and easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. Clean and spacious, historical building. We will definitely stay here again!
