Anchorage Area Stay

It was cozy and comfortable. The views in Eagle River are breathtaking. Richard and Katie were awesome and such accommodating hosts. They gave us any small cooking appliance we needed to make delicious salmon, scallops and shrimp while we were there. They gave us some wonderful travel tips and suggestions as well. We went on a Day Glacier cruise out of Whittier. Wonderful! Took the train to Seward and back for a day. The views were amazing and we saw wildlife as well! We took a couple of days and drove down to Homer and took a plane over to Katmai and saw the bears feeding on salmon. Incredible experience! Eagle River was a perfect, out of the way place to have a "base camp". We drove over to Girdwood one day and took a nice hike and visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. There are so many nice hikes in the area as well as museums and restaurants in Anchorage. The trip of a lifetime!

Comfortable, clean, and cozy stay in Eagle River!

We thoroughly enjoyed returning to our apartment every evening after a full day of activities in the Anchorage/Eagle River area. It was a perfect location for us, outside of Eagle River, up in a beatiful, forested setting.

Much needed getaway

Very cute place with a super convenient location for all the stuff we wanted to do. The owner was very helpful, offering big and bear spray if needed as well as checking in on us to make sure we had what we needed.

Great Location including wildlife!!!

Great little place for 3 or less. A bear walked right outside the place so we were able to see it within feet of our window without the danger. An owl family entertained us for a few days. The National Forest was very close and we were able to see moose a few days in a row. Views are spectacular. Not a major drawback but kitchen is tight, we try to cook often to save on going out but we made it work. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful, Comfortable, Welcoming

This was a wonderful place to stay for our trip! We did a lot of exploring of the Anchorage area, we drove up to Hatcher's Pass, we drove down to Seward, and lots of places in between. It's a great, centrally located place. The guesthouse was immaculately clean, well decorated, and very comfortable. Eagle River is a beautiful little town itself! We saw moose on our drive home to the guesthouse 3 or 4 days out of our week long trip. There is a beautiful nature center with wonderful hiking trails just down the road. Richard had everything we could possibly need at the guesthouse: bear spray to carry with us, a bell to hook to your backpack to make noise for safety, bug spray, sunscreen (just in case you forgot these things). There was a coffee maker, toaster, dishes, refridgerator, etc. We stocked up at Walmart to have cheap breakfasts each morning before heading out. There were a couple of nights that we fell asleep to the peaceful sound of hooting owls somewhere outside our window. It was a very serene, nature-filled setting. Richard provided all kinds of recommendations on hiking trails, attractions to see and things to do. If you get a chance to stay here, I highly recommend it!

Quiet and peaceful

I had my mother and sister stay here during my daughter's graduation and it was every bit as great as we had hoped it would be. Away from busy roads with wonderful views of the Chugach Mountains. The nature center is just down the road, or Eagle River and Anchorage are close enough to be convenient. If I end up with a full house again, I'll certainly look to see if this is available for additional guests.

Absolutely loved it!

The place was perfectly clean, good beds and bedding, games, books, ... altogether a lovely place to stay in a quiet wooded area. Also, close to a small town with good restaurants and shopping, and a wonderful nature center with paths of varying length which were beautiful and secluded. Richard also provided bear spray (pricey to buy) which fortunately we did not need!

Wonderful place to come home to !!!

The guest apartment is beautiful and immaculate. The location is wonderful. Close enough to town but out far enough to enjoy the wonders of AK. We saw moose, bears and birds. Nearby river, creeks and waterfalls. I have been coming to AK for over 20 years. This is the best accommodation we have ever had. Will definitely book again.

Great place! Will come back

My wife, our son and I stayed here for a week in August. We absolutely loved it and were so grateful that we choose this gem over something in town. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The beds were comfy and spacious. The windows have black out shades/curtains, so it made it so we could sleep in. The bathroom is very spacious and beautiful. The kitchen is small, but we used the BBQ and were able to cook some meals. We also adopted Cooper, the owner's dog. He would be at our door in the mornings, just laying on the door mat. He would play with our son and was very lovable. If we could take him home, we would have. The Owner, Richard, was beyond helpful, informative of the area and just down right sweet. He made us feel like family and even went on a couple hikes with us. The Nature Center down the road was a great way to get out and hike. We did see moose on the road to the Nature Center. We will for sure come back and stay here again. It was perfect for our family!!

Very nice, would recommend!

Great place to stay! Would recommend! The location is unbeatable. We explored anchorage but also hiked nearby trails. Richard is extremely nice; he even let us use his washer and dryer. The guest house is located on the first floor while his family is on the second. Occasionally you can hear their conversations but it wasn't burdensome. The only con was the small kitchen (which is described in the description). My husband and I enjoy Cooking so Richard let us borrow his pans.. Everything worked out and we had a Great time. We has a great time! Thanks Richard!

Awesome Unit in the hills of alaska

This is a very special place. It is about 35 minutes outside of Anchorage, about 15 minutes from Eagle River. It is just 3 minutes off of the highway, but yet it feels like you are in the woods. The unit itself is very nice, very spacious, clean and comfortable. It had pretty much all the things you will need to stay and be comfortable. The "kitchen" is very small, with a small fridge, but it met our needs. The bedrooms were spacious, and very comfortable, with TVs in both rooms. There isn't much on TV, but we brought our Amazon fire TV stick with us, so we just plugged it into the one in the first bedroom. The WIFI worked very well. The owner, who lives on site, is SUPER friendly, and helpful. He let us use his grill so we could cook dinner one night. He also let us adopt his dog, Cooper, while we were there, which was great, cause we were missing our pups. Cooper would hang out with us each morning as we got ready for the days' adventures. There is a wildlife reserve just up the road, but the day we decided to go check it out, there was a bike race there, so we decided to skip it. That's actually a big regret on my part, cause it is supposed to be amazing. One night while coming back to the place, we saw two moose lounging in the wetlands along the highway. We stop and took pictures and video, a nice bonus! There is a Wal-Mart about 10 minutes away, so you can stop and get food or whatever for your stay. We found the prior tenants had left some beer, butter and other stuff, and we left some stuff too. I would go back here in a heartbeat if I wanted to stay in the area!

Great Experience

We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was close to a nature center that had observation decks for viewing salmon, bear, beaver and moose. We saw quite a few moose along the road in the area and they were quite willing to pose as we took their picture. Our lodging was very clean and comfortable. It had a full kitchen, large bath, laundry facilities, dining area, etc. The owner was very helpful in finding attractions and places to see wildlife. There was a Walmart and other shopping very close by. The mountain scenery in the area is gorgeous. I would certainly look to stay here on future trips.

Family visit

My husband Mother and father in law enjoyed their stay. Far enough off the beaten path but not too far. Everyone was comfortable. The only issue mentioned was phone service was spotty. Everything else was very pleasant. yes we would choose again. Thank you
