Such a Special Place. We loved it!!

This was a family trip for us before my brother and his wife moved out of the area. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our time together to make some lasting memories. The location is perfect and the cabin is very comfortable and clean. We had the best time and would definitely come back again. Ryan is very good at communicating and made sure he did everything possible to make our stay a positive one. I would recommend this lovely place to my family and friends.

Great Memorial Weekend At Wonderful Cabin

My family normally spends Memorial Weekend at Priest Lake and this year we rented Ryan's Cabin in Cavanaugh Bay and it was all it was made out to be...clean, easy access, lots of parking, wonderful view, and just a few steps to the lake and dock. Will plan on renting it again soon. Gary K

Great accomodations

Very nice historical cabin with good updates and accomodations. Dock has mooring whips = excellent! - look up how to use them and it'll keep your boat off the dock and damage free! Be careful about trying to drag a boat in, there's accomodations on the way in under power lines, but it's better to park your boat/trailer somewhere, then drive unencumbered to the cabin. Owner was great on instructs, but even better I was lucky enough to have friends in Coolin where I could leave my boat/trailer and leave them prior to launching/trailering.

Perfect week at the Lake

We had a wonderful week at Ryan's cabin on Cavanaugh Bay. The location can't be beat and the cabin was absolutely charming and perfect for our needs. Everything was very clean, well stocked, and super well organized. We were there in September and had a mix of weather, but plenty of room to spread out both inside and outside. Nice big deck, lots of storage, wonderful picnic table and fire pit areas, large, sturdy dock, and nice small beach area that made getting into and out of kayaks a breeze. The cabin is fairly private, but the few neighbors we encountered when out and about were quite friendly. And it's just a short walk, paddle, or boat ride down to Cavanaugh's restaurant - a great spot for food and drinks. Also, Ryan was very easy to communicate with when we had a couple of questions. We are looking forward to staying there again!

Cavanaugh cabin at Priest Lake

Easy to rent; easy to find thanks to instructions. Cabin was clean and owner , Ryan, made it very easy to communicate; answered questions I had quickly. He let me know cabin was not winterized and may have to use wood stove which we did. He was so thoughtful, had fire going in wood stove when we arrived therefore cabin was warm and welcoming. He also had plenty of firewood available on deck which was necessary as it was cold. Thank you Ryan! The beds were comfortable; even the adults who normally wake early slept in. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed; only item I could not find was a spatula, but not a big deal. The view of lake was nice; the lapping water sound was wonderful. Overall, nice place to get away to. Thank you Ryan!

Great house with a dock on Cavanaugh Bay

This is a perfect cabin for a week on Priest. It's really close to Coolin, Cavanaugh Bay Resort, camping, hiking, boating, waterfalls, etc. The house was old but very clean and well appointed. It's definitely a summer cabin with some age to it. It's right at the head of some great hiking trails and the dock is easily accessible from the property. There isn't a huge slope down to the water like with some properties. Suggestions: The cabin needs a coffee grinder. An upgrade to a Blu-Ray player would help. The Internet at this location is terrible. Suggest upgrading the Verizon hotspot to AT&T 5G. You'll pay the same/similar and the service will be much faster and more reliable. Very important for those of us with work that we can't get away from!

We had a great family gathering here.

We had loved it. We had a family gathering at this and a nearby cabin. Eight folks stayed in this cabin. It was a little cozy, but worked fine. It's right on the lake, with a great view. The deck is a wonderful place to have dinner, especially as the sun sets. There is a dock right below that you can use for swimming or fishing. The kitchen is very well stocked and the grill outside is large (we had dinners with 18 folks and there was plenty of room and equipment). It's on a quiet dead-end road, so there is lots of quiet and privacy - but you are reasonably close to Coolin for shopping, restaurants, boat rentals, etc. Also, Ryan was very nice to work with. My parents, who are in their 80's, got there first, and he made arrangements to get them settled. And he recommended a fishing guide who helped us catch enough trout for two and a half dinners. If and when I get back to Priest Lake, this is where I want to stay.

Heaven on Earth

This cabin is great for our yearly family retreat as this was our 4th year. There is plenty of room for the entire family (9) to relax and recharge. It was immaculate with a fully operable kitchen and everything you need to prepare family meals. The view of the lake from the dining and living room is amazing and the sunsets from the dock are breathtaking! We love the rustic look of the exposed log beams and original brick. Location, location, location! The cabin is situated up in the trees a bit so it does not get the baking afternoon sun, but situated to still see the lake. It has a good distance from your neighbors and is down a private road with almost zero traffic, so you have plenty of privacy. You are within walking distance from a nice restaurant in case you want a break from cooking one evening. The bay it sits on provides nice calm waters for paddle boarding and such. Our active family hikes quite a lot and there are endless trails to lakes, peaks and lookouts not to far from the cabin and even a trail to a waterfall and viewpoint right from the cabin. A small grass airport within walking distance provides entertainment if you like to watch planes take off/land and there was even one that performed aerobatics. Whether you want to soak up the sun, relax and read a book, participate in water sports or hike, this cabin is it! The owners are fabulous to work with and they check in to ensure your stay is trouble free. Double thumbs up on this one!

Cavanaugh Bay Cabin

It is the quintessential Priest Lake cabin. For the most part, we really enjoyed our time, liked the deck and the places to hang out and also liked having the dock and the swimming area which we made good use of. Since I am very familiar with the lake (having vacationed here as a child) it did make me feel like I was revisiting old times and that, in the face of the 4 million dollar Microsoft funded mansions on the lake, it was far preferable to the exclusion of the folks who just like the lake and its beauty, as opposed to building a showpiece house for folks to either ogle at or stare at in dismay. Not fancy but generally ok. I think that the pricing relative to the amenities of the cabin was a bit opportunistic but if it was my property, I would probably do a similar rate structure, with a few enhancements to ensure that my guests were comfortable. I didn't really have too many issues with the property but found that the number one item that the cabin lacked was airflow. It's billed as a place that has an AC but when we arrived we found that the AC circuit had been turned off and when we turned it on to test it, it really didn't work that well. So, since the breaker was off, I returned it to the off position and made do with attempts to have airflow. As I mentioned earlier, the airflow (or lack thereof) was really my only issue and it is something that could easily have been rectified by ensuring that a number of the windows that didn't open were operable. The simplest solution would be to have a screen fashioned for the small door that opens onto the deck on the far side of the cabin. When we opened up that door, the air went rushing through and cooled the cabin off pretty nicely. The only issue about doing that in the absence of a screen is that insects get in so that was only a short term solution, absent a screen. Other simple solutions would be a couple of ceiling fans in over the main room to move the air around. I don't want this to seem all negative but the stagnant air and lack of airflow left a strong impression in my mind as well as the mind of my family/kids each evening as we drifted off to sleep. I thought I would point that out as for about 5K for a week, it's not really much to expect, especially since the AC unit didn't work too well. I think for sure we would consider this place again as we do understand that it was unseasonably warm (unless of course I am banned for being too unfiltered).

Great communication and very accomodating!

Beautiful place and a beautiful location! Ryan was super helpful and responded quickly to our questions. He also proactively reached out to us when he learned a neighbor would be doing some excavation during our stay and provided an early check-in/late checkout to make amends (even though neighbors are very much not under his control!). The work crew was also very nice and not too noisy. The only downside, but not quite worth docking a star, is that the house doesn't actually have internet. "You can use your phone's cell connection" doesn't really count as internet, so that amenity should probably be removed from the listing 😅 It wasn't a big deal for us since we wanted to disconnect, but might be a surprise for someone who wants to work from the cabin. Thank you for sharing your home, Ryan!!

Wonderful Family Vacation

Once again, our week at Priest Lake was spectacular! The cabin was spotless, very well stocked, and was perfect for our extended family of 6 + dog. We spent the majority of our waking hours outside kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, skiing, fishing, and just hanging out and catching up. The location cannot be beat, and Ryan is the perfect host. Looking forward to returning next year.

Beautiful location

Beautiful setting, right on the crystal clear water. Home nicely furnished. Very clean. Ryan is an excellent host. Very helpful. The only drawback - no internet service ( you can piggyback off WiFi at nearby restaurant, which has excellent food and beautiful views) and poor cellphone service unless you have Verizon.

Amazing cabin in Cavanaugh Bay

Ryan- thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us this summer. The love and care that you've put into it is obvious from the moment you walk in the door. We've stayed at several places on the lake the past 10 years, but yours was by far the cleanest and most thoughtful we've come across. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were very comfortable and our family felt right at home immediately. We look forward to the possibility of spending many future summers at your cabin in Cavanaugh Bay. Thanks again !! Arik and Stacie Williams

Relaxing time with family

This cabin was a wonderful site for spending time with family. The owners were very helpful in answering all of our questions and responding in a timely manner with any needs we had. I would certainly recommend working with these owners. They made our first experience using VRBO pleasant and the vacation was everything my family hoped it would be. We were looking for an area that would offer more than just "lake fun" and we certainly had a lot of things to do up in the area. The cabin also has very helpful neighbors on each side.

Great rustic cabin for family of 11!

Adults and children loved the rustic cabin experience on Priest Lake! Very clean and comfortable with plenty of room for all to sleep and eat inside or outside. Boat dock accommodates boating as well as swimming. Limited beach area and limited flat ground around the cabin for game activites. Hiking activities readily available near cabin. Beautiful sunsets. Great spot for skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Close proximity to Cavanaughs for dining. Memories made to last a lifetime! Thank you to owner Ryan for your timely response to questions.

Excellent rustic lakefront cabin

We enjoyed our stay at this charming lakefront cabin. It had everything we needed for our family vacation and was close to restaurants and stores. We spent our days swimming and boating from the dock, relaxing on the deck overlooking the bay, and hiking right from our front door. We hope to return next year!

Beautiful Lake Front Cabin and great family memories made!

Our family was so excited when we got to this beautiful lake front cabin! The view of the lake from the living room was amazing! It was very nicely stocked and had everything we could have needed! We had 6 adults and 2 teens and we were completely comfortable and had everything we could have needed. It was a great vacation cabin and plenty of space for us to enjoy being together as a family. Fun games for us to play as a family and great books to read. The dinning table and bar was a great place for family dinner or the wonderful outdoor porch with us all enjoying the beautiful view. The dock and places to hang out in and around the water were just what we hoped for! We had a great time!! Thank you Ryan for letting us rent your beautiful cabin. We hope to stay again and make more memories as a family!

Another great stay!

This was our second year staying in this cabin and was just as fabulous as the last year. The cabin is really well furnished, clean, maintained and amenities are all provided as described. The lake view from the open concept living area is beautiful, the location of the cabin in the trees keeps it comfortable cool, the location in Cavanaugh bay makes it easier to paddle board, swim and float, and the benefits don't stop there. We've already booked again for next summer!

Fantastic Week at Priest Lake!

Ryan was fantastic helping us get the cabin at the last minute! We had scheduled to go to Lake Chelan but the fires prevented us and we had to scramble at the last minute to find another vacation rental. Ryan called us back the same day and worked with us. Thank you! The cabin was fantastic - enough bedrooms for our multi-family of 7 - grandparents, moms and kids. Kitchen had everything we needed and a great view of the lake from the living room and family room. The cabin is modern, but still has the old cabin charm. We spent most most of our time on the dock - the boat whips were very helpful for keeping our boat from hitting the dock. The kids loved the lake - swimming, kayaking and tubing behind the boat. We had beautiful weather! My family used to have a cabin down towards 8 mile island and it was great to revisit all of the places we love - underwater island by eight mile (it has always been a first night boat trip tradition!), Hunt Falls, boat trip to Upper Priest/Thoroughfare, Coolin (Leonard Paul Store for huckleberry ice cream), Cavenaugh's (Sunday brunch was wonderful), Hill's Resort, Elkin's Resort and more! We had a wonderful time and we were sad when the week came to an end. My only regret is that we didn't stay for 2 weeks! We will definitely come back! I highly recommend this place - just save a week or two for me!

Why they chose this property

Our family has enjoyed many family vacations and summer weekends over the years at Priest Lake falling in love with its peaceful beauty and crystal clear waters. It really is the Crown Jewel of Idaho. Though a large northern lake, it warms up in the summer for pleasant boating and swimming experience. We love the fact that the lake is so large and unencumbered devoid of an overcrowded boating and vacation experience. Lower Priest Lake at 19 miles long offers 70 miles of shoreline and a wide variety of water activities. Area resorts and marinas offer boat, kayak, canoe, pontoon rentals and gas. Of course in the winter the snowy, secluded majestic mountains beckon the snowmobilers in the family. Cross country skiing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities.
