Wine weekend getaway

The location of this property was perfect for our visit. Could travel in any direction and visit very nice wineries within minutes. The home was very clean, secluded, and had all of the necessary ammedeties. The walking trail was a great way to start each day.

Shenandoah Hiking Trip

Stayed at the house with three friends for a hiking trip to Shenandoah National Park. The house was really nice with four spacious bedrooms on the main floor - all with ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen was large and it was easy to cook dinner. Very pretty grounds and a relatively short drive to the park. We planned ahead and stocked up using both of the refrigerators in the kitchen. Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Hidden Gem near Shenandoah

We loved our stay at Twin Ponds. Our young children spent hours fishing and running around outside. We didn't have to argue with them about screentime because they were too busy to think about tablets. Everything was clean and maintained from the home, the estate, and the trails. We particularly enjoyed the menagerie as well. Great getaway for a family.

Perfect for a family getaway.

Our family had a great time celebrating our parents. Plenty of room for everyone, great views and location in VA wine country. The house is mostly on one level with some steps to the living room and outdoor areas.

70th birthday celebration

Beautiful setting in the countryside. Rooms were spacious and we loved early mornings in the hot tub. Everyone had a go at ping pong and there was plenty of room for playing games. Two fridges in the kitchen were a plus!

Good home away from home

Everything was beautiful. We did not have WiFi or network service the first day which was a bit scary. But eventually Saturday late afternoon the property managers installed the service so we finally were able to contact our love ones back home

Twin Ponds

Property is really great if you're looking for something a bit out of the way. Culpepper is still only around 30 minutes away, and has several great options for food or entertainment. We preferred to walk the trail on the property and simply enjoy each others company, and the property was excellent for that. Would certainly reccomend.

Great view of fall colors!

We had a wonderful time at the Twin Ponds House. We spent the day in Shenandoah and then the evenings in the hot tub and around the fire. The kitchen was wonderfully large for our big group, just wish it had a few more basic kitchen items like foil/plastic wrap etc. The living and dining areas were also great though we spent most time outside. Beds were comfortable, but it does get chilly at night!

Peaceful & relaxing

We had a very nice and relaxing time. We stayed at the Twin Pond home. Very private. We enjoyed the spa and paved trail around the property. Connie & Paul were very kind and always around if you need something. Connie showed us around when we arrived and about the history of the property. The kitchen had everything you need. We just had a wonderful time. Hope to be back soon!

Truly beautiful property!

We had a fantastic stay at Castleton at the Twin Ponds house. The house layout and space was great, very roomy and loved that each bedroom has it's own bath. Hot tub worked great and so easy to access. Outdoor fire pit and gas lit fire table were perfect for enjoying the evenings. Between the pool and farm animals and s'mores by the fire there was plenty to entertain the kids. And Connie made everything so easy and accommodating. I really hope we can make it back!

Relaxing Girl's Getaway

We had a really nice girl's getaway! The area around the property and spa was very serene and relaxing! The house was spacious and clean. We didn't expect the K-cups to be provided, that was nice but some creamer and sugar with it would have been great as well. There is no reception as you get near and the office/home wasn't easy to find so suggest some signs. However, the hosts were very welcoming and accommodating to show us around and take us to the house.

Loved the place hate Vrbo

The property and home were wonderful. Big house with a well stocked kitchen. We loved hanging outside in the grass backyard. We will definitely come again. VRBO is deceptive and I will not rent through them again. They didn’t include the cleaning fee in their listing and confirmation so it seemed like it was cheaper on their site. But surprise, the rental adds it on and sends a second higher invoice. Bad business.

No cell service, but strong wifi - Would visit again

The house is remote so it doesn't have any cell, but their wifi is strong so you can get around this if you have an iPhone or wifi based communication service. The thing my friends and I liked most about the house is the number of rooms/bathrooms and thermostats. We could have our own areas and temperatures just the way we like them. The house is a bit dated, but very clean. It was also a nice touch that they provided firewood for the fire pit! The one thing I wish they had was a more automated and contactless checkin process to avoid having to go their office once you arrive.

Absolutely perfect! Never wanted to leave.

Our entire group was blown away by this place!! Pictures don’t do the property justice. We woke up in the morning and played tennis right outside our door with cows mooing in the distance. Spent an afternoon canoeing in the pond, picking blackberries, then grilled outside and watched the sunset. Doesn’t get more romantic. The home was spectacular and so well-stocked. You settle right in without thinking about anything. And Connie makes you feel like family! We loved visiting the animals, especially the zonkey! And the spa is jaw-dropping. Straight out of a Four Seasons. Couldn’t have asked for anything more from our stay here. Already planning the next trip back.

Perfect vacation place!

There were 6 of us ranging in ages 3 to 70 and 2 pups. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath. Plenty of space! The home was perfect. It was clean, neat and everything you could think of was there. We just had to bring our own food and seasonings which I prefer. We made day trips to Luray caverns, Va Safari park and historicial Winchester for the Civil War Museum, Stonewall Jackson and George Washington's headquarters and Patsy Cline's house. The corner grocery store was amazing along with the farm animals on the property. Restaurants were very good, but a little drive to get to them. We made it special every night going someplace different. We had a few questions and Connie Payne answered each one quickly. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. We didn't turn on tv once while we were there as we spent them time talking about what to do and what we did. Our family will rent this place again. Many thanks to Connie and her husband for being so wonderful!
