August getaway

We had a wonderful family vacation at this property. The kids (11-14) LOVED the bunkhouse and we all thoroughly enjoyed taking the boats onto the pond to fish or relax. Wolfeboro is an adorable town and the house is located minutes from downtown, but honestlywith the pond, large deck, and fire pit we spent most of our time on the property. Can’t wait to come back!

Dog-cation

We enjoy taking our dogs on a trip each year as a family and this was a great spot for just that. They are water bugs and this was a perfect spot. We will return!

Disappointment

Cottage was dirty. Open food in refrigerator. Someones laundry in hamper in bathroom. Garbage and recyclble were left. Outside furniture dirty and cushions were soaking wet. Could not use during our stay. Inflatables left scattered around the shoreline. Cottage was very small the two twin beds were actually a twin and a trundle. When contacting property manager we were told that people had just left. If it's a successful rental that should happen most weeks. Then he told us he had a new cleaning crew. I got the feeling we were being blown off. The bunk house was dirty. Top bunks hard to use because of roof slope. Loved the quiet. Water was nice and had good fishing.

Beautiful pet-friendly location

Overall, the time spent at the cabin was lovely and we had a great time. You could tell care has gone into setting up the deck and outdoor areas. Having access to the boating equipment and grill was a definite plus at this rental! If you are someone who enjoys kayaking, canoeing, or just sitting on the dock, this is a good spot for you. We did find previous reviews noting the cleanliness of the house to be correct - it is in need of a deep clean. Unfortunately, the trundle bed and outdoor couch could not be used due to an abundance of debris that has piled up over time. The cleaning crew had arrived before we departed and we relayed this information to them in hopes they would tend to it prior to the arrival of the next renter. We are accustomed to more rustic accommodations so were not bothered by it but it should be something you are aware of.

Good time, good property

We really enjoyed our stay. Pros: The view is absolutely amazing. The deck is 10 feet from the water of a small pond. Having access to the kayaks and paddle boats is a plus. Overall the property was fairly clean and very close to the town of Wolfeboro. We had a very good time. Cons: The kayak seat was broken again and the owner was there fixing it again when we arrived. Maybe think of upgrading the kayaks as the ones that are there are on the cheap side and seem to break frequently. Even though the house is listed as being able to sleep 10, I agree with the other reviewers that having more than 4 would be a really tight fit. The house is definitely small. The sofa could use some upgrading as the sofa bed is extremely thin and you can feel coils coming through your back. By day 5/6 this was difficult to endure. Overall it was definitely a good experience and I would go back. Richard the owner is easily accessible with questions and concerns.

Fun time on the water

Had 5 people in the group - 3 adults, 1 teen and 1 child. The house is small but the space is arranged wisely. The outdoor deck is really nice overlooking the water. The bunk house does add some needed space for sleeping if needed. The best part of the property is the water access. We spent 95% of the time on the boats/kayaks and fishing. If you fish then you will like this place. We pulled out 20 bass over two days. The pond is small and quiet so there is no worry about losing sight of anyone from the dock. The swimming area is small bc most of the pond is full of Lilly pads but we were able to cool off in the small cleared area. The beach area definitely does not match the pictures though. The sand is really nonexistent in the “beach area”. The hot tub was also not set up and we were told after arriving that it wouldn’t be available. We also had to wait an extra hr to move in because cleaning was delayed. Overall-We all enjoyed our time here over the 3 days. If you like quiet and fishing then you’ll like this house.

67 Sargent's pond

House was cute. Great fishing in the pond. But... Disappointed with cleanliness of property. Broken glass at waters edge, bottles in water, kayak was broken, row boat only had 1 working oar, peddle boat broken. The site was listed has having a hot tub and it did not. Could not find pass to take trash to the dump. Toilet seat was broken. Grill was so rusted and dirty it was unusable. We were with our family and made the best of the situation. Would suggest the listing be updated as this house does not have a hot tub. Was definitely overpriced based on the accomodations provided

Setting great but inside fithly

Only one key was supplied. The paddleboat was back storage compartment was full of beer cans / cider cans and broken ( the left hand side spins freely ) . House was full of hair and filthy and wasn’t clean between rentals . The bedroom quilt on the double bed was visibly soiled. A container was full of spoiled food was left in the microwave thus never wiped out .Both bedroom mattresses are too soft and uncomfortable - The pullout couches mattress is horribly thin and is extremely uncomfortable. The vrbo property description is not accurate- ie the nonexistent hot tube , usable bunkhouse and the beach is full of weeds and overgrowth. The living room carpet had dog treats under the ottomans with sand and pine needles therefore never vacuumed .In regards to the general cleaning of the unit was subpar and maybe overlooked completely - The vacuum cleaner disposable filter bag is full needs to be changed . I swept the entire unit because it was sandy and full of dust bunnies not rustic .

Small but private

On the plus side, the cabin is on a very quiet and peaceful pond. There are no motor boats. There was a fun paddle boat that we enjoyed. The owner is nice and very responsive. I do think the price was very high for the size and quality. This is in comparison to other properties I've rented. Its tiny beach is sorely in need of upkeep as is the house. Again, I really dont like giving bad reviews but this was overpriced. Being close to wolfboro is a plus

Perfect for a quiet getaway

Richard was easily accessible host. House is on the small side but perfect for my wife and I with our young kids! Lake has very gradual slope so perfect for the little ones to play safely in the water. Caught lots of fish right next to the dock, and a few more out in the deeper parts in the kayak. Love that the lake has no power boats, keeps things safer and quiet. Short ride to the big lake and Wolfeboro Center. Looking forward to visiting again!

Fun area, nice owner, just small.

The cottage is in a great area, there are lots of outdoor activities nearby including a great bike trail and the White Mountains for hiking. The deck was great, we really enjoyed watching the ducks and herons from there. We loved being able to have our dog with us and the owner even provides a dog bed. Perhaps we should have read more carefully though since we were expecting to be on a lake but it's a pond, very shallow with reeds and lily pads, so we were disappointed not to be able to swim. We didn't see anyone on the pond swimming, even during a scorchingly hot week. We did enjoy the kayaks and raft though. Our main issue was that the cottage was too small for us, again probably our mistake, but would like for it to be clear to other visitors that this is really only comfortable for three people. The bunk house is not a good option for sleeping, but we were counting on using it for two nights when we were six, so we had to get creative with the sleeping arrangements. We had fun and I'd recommend for a couple or small family, but don't see how this could ever sleep 10.

The perfect getaway...

We stayed here the last week of August and it was everything we had hoped for. Right on the water, so peaceful, loved taking the kayak out on the water. The house was very clean and cozy. As mentioned by others, the tv remotes were a challenge but the wifi worked great for streaming a show on the iPad. Wolfeboro is a great town to walk around in with nice cafes and restaurants - just a short drive from the house. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back!

Quiet secluded small home.

Small secluded home with beautiful pond view with beach and dock. Beach is really not swimmable and there is no network/cable TV. Complicated Amazon TV with access to HBO movies and series. Allbee beach, vey nice and free, is 10 min car ride away, pack a lunch and bring your floats. Lots of activity in downtown Wolfeboro; market, restaurants and shops about 15 ish min car ride away. Great pizza at Louie's. Wifi works well. If you want a very quiet getaway with no TV..... this is the place.

Quiet and Peaceful

This was a perfect fit for me. I was looking for a restful, fuss-free vacation spot and this did the trick. The house is comfortable with all the necessary vacation necessities. The best features are the large deck and the windows facing the pond providing a gorgeous view and plenty of natural light. The TV system is complicated (to me) but I don't watch much TV anyway. I never had problems with streaming on my iPad. I would suggest providing quick instructions for the counter top dishwasher as well as a metal Tarascan outside--that would help reduce the number of trips to the waste facility. Wolfeboro is lovely and I was able to explore the area of Winnepasaukee easily. While I did not get around to using the kayaks, I did make use of the rowboat and pedal boat--relaxing! I would rent again next summer!

Quiet retreat

We had a wonderful time at this little piece of paradise. A quiet retreat and a lovely pond. Place had everything my family with two young kids needed to get away and recharge for 5 days this summer. place was small but cozy, comfortable, and the environment was super conducive to what we had in mind. Relaxing, letting the kids play in the sand, a few trips in the provided boats into the pond and a short distance away from town where there was all you are looking for in a lakeside village. Thanks for everything.

Beautiful

We had a great time. The house was beatiufully appointed , comfortable, and everything was provided and more. The setting on the pond is spectacular. The windows and deck afford a view that is amazing. It was very quiet with no motor boats allowed. The house was sparkling clean, and everything functioned perfectly. If peace and quiet with beautiful views is what you want, this is the place. It isn't a large house, but very functional. We hope to return for another restful getaway next summer.

Very relaxing

I would give it 4.5 stars. Great cottage. All amenities were available. Excellent view of Sargent's Pond. You couldn't get any closer without being on a boat, of which the owner provided use. Nearby town of Wolfboro is cute with some nice restaurants. Owner is very responsive to the renter's needs. We had planned on doing some day trips into nearby Maine or the New Hampshire coast and never did them, simply because the cottage was too relaxing to leave. I did, however, have a very difficult time with the WiFi. The TV/entertainment center was only turned on once throughout our week stay during a rainy day and although there is WiFi available, the bandwidth was insufficient to stream anything through either Netflix or Amazon Prime. Additionally, the garbage situation is a bit inconvenient. During our week stay, several bags of trash were generated, with no place to put them. It is up to the renters to take the trash to the transfer station (which luckily is only 3-4 minutes away), however I had to put smelly garbage in my car several times to take it to the transfer station.

Wonderful cottage

Spotless cottage with all modern amenities (wifi, A/C, dishwasher, large flatscreen TV etc.) in a beautiful, private setting only ten minutes from "town" (downtown Wolfeboro). We really enjoyed boating and swimming on the lake, cycling around the area, and nearby hikes. The large deck with the grill was also a huge plus.

Why they chose this property

An amazing escape from life and work in Boston. Just 1 hour 50 mins from downtown Boston, perched on the edge of a beautiful, secluded small lake and yet less than 10 mins from all the restaurants, bars, shops and activities of Wolfeboro and the much larger lakes Winnepausakee and Wentworth.
