About this property

Henry's Cottage - a place to make you smile

Henrys’ is a cosy relaxing cottage, sleeping 4, it's well equipped and contains, an entrance lobby, downstairs shower room, a dining kitchen and lounge, upstairs are two double bedrooms and is ideal for families and couples alike wanting a seaside holiday or to use as a base for exploring the broads and this delightful area.

A suntrap garden, multifuel stove in the dining room and open fire in the lounge make this an ideal holiday cottage all year round.

There is EV charging available at an additional cost.

Pleasantly situated in the small village of Winterton-on-Sea Henry's cottage is just 5 minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beach and dunes. The village also boasts an excellent local pub, shop, post office, fish and chip shop and cafe all close by.

Henry's is a former fisherman's cottage that dates back approximately 150 years with comfortable lounge, fabulous fitted kitchen dining room seating 4, shower room and two double bedrooms, with drawers, wardrobe or hanging space. (one also has a cot bed suitable for a small child). As an old cottage I have tried to remain sympathetic to it's rustic character and charm, allowing you to enjoy it's relax and unwind in pleasant surroundings.

PLEASE NOTE. This is an old fishermans cottage and the stairs are steep, turning and wooden, not suitable for anyone with mobility issues

Outside there is parking for two cars and pleasant gardens both front and back, a patio area with garden furniture to enjoy the first cup of tea of the day, gas bbq and sun loungers available for the most relaxing of days.

Situated in the heart of the village there's always someone to talk to, and you're never far from anywhere, in addition to the pubs and shops there is an excellent children's playground for a change from the beach, while on the edge of the village is a beautiful church dating back to the 1500's and seals often seen on the beach and playing in the sea, meaning that there is always something to do or somewhere to visit.

If you choose to book, why not also choose to pay me direct, this will save us both money - just send an enquiry and ask. As you can see I've been hosting for many years and always honour bookings.

Seal watching at Henry’s Cottage
This is a great place to stay for watching seals on Winterton beach in the winter. The cottage is very comfortable and close to the local pub and shops. The rooms are a decent size and the open fire keeps it nice and warm. The only drawback is the very steep stairs which might not suit everybody . Also there was a lingering smell of drains in the kitchen, which was tolerable in winter but might be harder to put up with in warm weather. Despite this minor concern we had a great time and would recommend Henry’s Cottage for a relaxing winter break.

Lovely seaside holiday cottage
This was our second stay at Henry’s Cottage and we loved it just as much as the first time , lovely location 5 mins walk to the beach and off street parking .Village has a local convenience store as well as a post office with a small tea room which was only opened a few weeks ago , had a cream tea there and it was very nice !. There is also a fish and chip shop and a pub which serves food as well as the beach cafe if you don’t fancy cooking!

Very comfortable stay.
We enjoyed our week immensely, Henry's cottage is comfortable and cosy and the large, modern kitchen/eating area is excellent. Having such an incredible beach just 5 minutes walk from the door was superb, and the two local shops have all the essentials. We didn't use the pub over the road in the end, but we never heard a single sound from it all week. We hope to be back in the future!

A lovely gem of a cottage
We have had a lovely stay at Henry’s Cottage with our 2 children. The cottage is beautiful and well kept with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The front and back garden are lovely (although we didn’t really get the weather to enjoy the properly!)! All in all there isn’t really anything we’d change and we hope to come back soon!

Superb location, charming cottage
Superb location. Steps from the popular pub the Fisherman’s return which does very good food and just a short walk from the village shop and chip shop. Easy walk to the beach as well. Parking can be tricky getting into the driveway. Cottage is lovely, full of character, although stairs are not for the faint hearted. All amenities are here and cottage is well stocked and locked after. As per previous review an airer to dry clothes when wet outside would be the only addition I would make. As a family with pet allergies it was refreshing to find a pet free cottage that was perfect for us.

It was cozy and clean. However the bathroom is damp, no means of drying towels and difficult to keep
Warm. The stairs might have benefited from a rail but were characterful.

Cosy cottage, lovely area
Narrow road access but very helpful locals directed us in to driveway. Certainly a cosy cottage, low ceilings- we are 6'4" and 5'11"- so a bit of a challenge not to bang our heads. Staircase very narrow and steep- took some negotiating. Great access to the beach-- lovely, long, sandy beach- great beach cafe- had breakfast there twice- looking out to sea in the late summer sun. Some lovely areas to visit- drove up the coast as far as Blakeney- stopping along the way in some of the small villages. Drove to Sandringham- very interesting, excellent walking Overall a relaxing break in a comfortable little cottage-- all mod cons, sat out in the garden to enjoy some sun Just be aware if you are tall or have dodgy knees- can be a bit awkward to negotiate the stairs

Lovely cottage in a perfect English coastal village
Winterton on sea is the perfect place for a seaside holiday in England with Henry'a cottage being an ideal base. Norfolk in my opinion is the most beautiful of England's counties and Winterton is possibly the best place I have ever holidayed. Perfect for seaside and countryside and with the broads and Norwich on the doorstep. It is a village I intend to return to time and time again.

Very pleasant and comfortable.
Winterton is a very well-kept village, and the property is very close to the beach and to the useful shops nearby. The pub across the road serves reliable food in a friendly atmosphere.

Fantastic location
Great location for the beach and the dunes - they're practically on the doorstep. Also close to the Broads and other attractions so we didn't have to travel too far to get to anywhere. The cottage is quaint, homely, quiet and warm. It had everything we needed (other than a washing basket and an airer!). It was great to have some basic supplies (condiments/cleaning supplies/dishwasher tablets etc) - a really nice touch. Also liked that there were buckets & spades etc as it saved us bringing them with us. Beautiful and well-kept gardens. On the downside, the kitchen was modern, but was slightly worse for wear (e.g. a cupboard door was falling off). The microwave wasn't working, which we managed without, but we would have used it if it had been working. Overall, this was a lovely place to stay and we had a relaxing few days there.

Lovely spot and lovely cottage
Great place to stay, the village is amazing. Great beach that goes on for miles and it was great to see all the seals. The village fish and chip shop was very good, the pub ok. The cottage is great, they have thought of everything. Just be warned the staircase is not very easy to get up and down. All in all an amazing spot.

Cosy and comfortable
We enjoyed our stay in July at Henry's Cottage. It is ideally situated within the village with the beach a five minute walk away with the pub, supermarket and fish and chip shop also nearby. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and although we had a small problem with the induction hob (which was quickly rectified with the help of Marie - thank you) has everything to make an enjoyable short break. The beach is just as we remembered it when we used to visit some 30 years ago when our son was small. The only change is the refurbished beach café which is worth a visit. Our break was restful and as the weather was at its best made the most of the loungers in the garden. It is a place to make you smile and certainly worth a visit again. R & P

A lovely family country cottage
Myself and my 2 children had 4 lovely relaxing days at Henry's cottage. Our half term holiday was perfect (despite the fact that it was February and a bit chilly) The cottage was warm (electric blankets a great touch) and cosy, with plenty of DVDs and games for the kids at the end of the day or on a rainy afternoon. With Winterton beach a 5 minute walk away and Great Yarmouth a 30 minute drive the cottage is perfectly placed. Everything you need is there, all you have to take is clothes and food, and Marie the owner could not have been more welcoming or accomodating.....none of us wanted to leave!! We will certainly return Thank you

Brave grandparents
Having visited Norfolk with our own 4 children, it had to be a 'must' for a holiday our 4 grandchildren. What a great choice we made by choosing Winterton and staying at Henrys cottage. Our 3 grandchildren loved the cottage and the provisions offered enabled us to have a very relaxing stay. We loved the area and on a daily basis walked the dunes (often singing Going on a Bear Hunt for some reason - our grandchildren being 6,4 and 3). We also enjoyed meeting many friendly locals on our walks and the local provision store provided everything that we needed. The shower cubicle was large enough to put all 3 grandchildren in together and on the whole the 'quaintness' of the cottage became so appealing to all of us. There was such a variety of things that we did that the week soon went! My husband and I loved our holiday and will always talk about Winterton with great fondness. There were moments with our grandchildren that we will always cherish. I am in the process now of making a 'holiday book' for them to keep and recall the lovely time that we spent at Henrys Cottage. I am hoping though, that we will be able to return soon!

Perfect holiday
Just booked for our second stay!!! We stayed at Henry's cottage in august last year and have just booked again for this August too. What a beautiful clean and well equipped cottage in an ideal location. The garden is lovely to sit out on in a summers evening while the children play. A 5 minutes stroll takes you to a stunning beach where you can see the seals or even visit the Dunes cafe. Ideal for children or couples. You could park your car up for your stay and not use it again until you travel home. We travelled with our 2 children aged 14 and 10 who absolutely loved their holiday here. The village has all local amenities a pub, post office, fish and chip shop and another small shop. I did an online supermarket delivery which arrived as we did. A short journey takes you to the amusements in Hemsby. Our favourite UK holiday cottage by far in a very relaxed and quiet village.Looking forward to August for our return visit to Henrys cottage and the fabulous changes I see in the photos of the extension and brand new kitchen. You would not be disappointed if you booked Henrys cottage for your holiday.

Fantastic little cottage
We stayed here for a few nights over the october half term and had the most fantastic time. I hadn't realised it was in easy walking distance of a beautiful beach where we could see seals. The cottage was charming - plenty of space for all five of us (the kids were happy bunking down on airbeds) and it was the perfect base for exploring the local area. Fantastic

Perfect Get-away!
We stayed in Henry's Cottage for 3 nights and it was perfect for what we needed. There was a cot in the main bedroom for my 16 month old son along with a stair gate and travel chair for eating. The location is gorgeous and the cottage is delightful. Quaint and pretty, it made for a great base for our exploring of this side of Norfolk. I also found it to be excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this cottage, particularly for a small family who want to get away and stay somewhere quiet and peaceful but also be near to Great Yarmouth and some excellent local attractions. I would also recommend Pettits Animal Park if you have little ones, low cost and a great day out, only 30 mins drive from the cottage too. I am pretty sure we will return to henry's Cottage in the future.

Although I live in Nottingham I've owned the cottage for a while now and this is my 'special go to place' where I have had many happy times.

The cottage is named after my son who is now in his 20's and has been going all his life - it was his first holiday! We have spent many wonderful days in the cottage and exploring the surrounding area regardless of the weather! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous holiday too.

It was fate when I found the cottage, (I wasn't even looking at the time), but a series of events led me to the cottage and to buying at auction - one of the best decisions of my life - other than having my son and marrying my second husband!

Why they chose this property

Henrys cottage is in the heart of the village and is a wonderful homely place that immediately welcomes you, allowing you to relax and unwind ready for your holiday adventure. Open fires make it cosy in winter and the fantastic sun trap of a garden make it the ideal relaxation spot on a sunny day on the sunloungers provided. The garden has a seating area and BBQ with parking for upto 2 cars.

What makes this property unique

The cottage is essentially a two up two down fishermans cottage, with a unique feeling that wraps itself around you - its a house that makes you smile. It's not the poshest or the most modern but it's warm and welcoming and the moment you walk in the door, you start to relax and unwind - the perfect holiday destination. Set in a friendly village with just enough facilities to satisfy your needs but not so many that it overwhelms.
