Overall nice
Overall it was a very nice stay. The house was laid out well and clean. I enjoyed the deck and the running river behind the cabin. The view was beautiful on the north side. The location of the house was a bit hard to find and I did not get instructions to get into the house in a timely manner. However, the stay was nice.

Beautiful View!
Great house, beautiful view... Only problem was that it smelled like cats/cat pee in the hallway. Other than that it was exactly what we needed/wanted!

Beautiful home with amazing views
What a fantastic stay at the Brock Haus. Roomy, comfortable, clean, modern amenities with a beautiful deck to relax on and enjoy the Colorado views. The house is more or less in between Buena Vista and the mountains. In one direction you have convenient access to magnificent hikes and in the other direction you can ride into town for some grocery shopping or a bite to eat. Renee the property manager is attentive and professional. Loved the whole experience.

Nice log house with a beautiful creek running in the back yard, close to Buena Vista.
Our stay at the Brock Haus was wonderful. It's a beautiful home overlooking Cottonwood creek. While nestled in with other homes along the creek, it felt secluded and private, yet close enough to Buena Vista for a quick run to town to get supplies or go shopping. The house is well maintained and clean. The large dining room table was a great place for family games, and eating, of course! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house immensely.

Surrounded by Beauty
We absolutely loved the Brock Haus! You are completely surrounded by 14ers! Our family of four (kids aged 14 & 12) hiked the nearby 14ers then came back to the house and enjoyed fishing in the stream or sitting on the huge back porch enjoying the beautiful views and wildlife. One of the highlights of the week was horseback riding, which was close by. We also really enjoyed driving up to Cottonwood Pass and to Twin Lakes. The house was perfect! If we have the opportunity to visit Buena Vista again we would definitely want to stay at the Brock Haus.

The house was fine, minus a few exceptions
The house was nice. There was some problems. According to the lady managing the property the previous occupants were long stay. They cleaned the property themselves. It was in all appearances clean. The regrigerator had a leak inside putting condensate inside the fridge. We arrived and used the hall bath, no toilet paper. Went to the master bath, a few strands of toilet paper. None was found in storage. My wife texted and told the caretaker, she was in Salida, she said she would bring toilet paper the next day. We went to town and bought some toilet paper. The next day she left 4 rolls for five people for 7 days, what a wonderful gesture. We found the bags for the trash the day we left, hidden under other stuff. We previously had bought bags. The grill would not work, we unfroze the rust and lifted the grill to add fuel after an hours work. I found a tick in the master BR bed, just one. The bedspread smelled of dog or some other odor. Ticks happen, I know. The fishing on the private pond was terrible, stocking could be an option. It is a very nice property, but improvements could be made.

Baby Boomer Birthday Blast
Five of my best "girlfriends" and I celebrated my 60th birthday Sept. 16-20, 2009 in this beautiful log home in Buena Vista, CO. The weather was gorgeous, the stream behind the property was gurgling, and the aspens were peaked. The first day there was designated "Buena Vista Day" and we all piled into one van and went to town. We probably went into every shop before stopping to have lunch at Mother's. Dinner was at Mt. Princeton Hotel followed by the coolest thing of all--sitting in the hot springs at night. Later, back at the log home, we had a fire in the fireplace and played games at a nice, big table in the great room. Day II was "Aspen & Leadville Day" and Day III was Oktoberfest in Breckenridge. There is no chance of running out of things to do, because even if you lack imagination, you can sit in a rocking chair on the huge deck and just gaze at the 14,000-foot mountain peaks or go for a walk along Cottonwood Creek. My friends and I loved the house, loved the entire area, and we'd go back in a heartbeat. Everything we planned went off without a hitch and there were no disappointments. A couple weeks before we arrived, there had been a rare sighting of a bear, so we were on the lookout for him. Fortunately, we didn't see him, but we saw plenty of deer lying on the lawns of the homes in town every evening around dinner time and a big moose prancing in a field on the side of the road on our way back from Breckenridge. When it was time for me to blow out the candles on my birthday cake, I only had one wish to make....I wished that I could do this all over again next year.

Wonderful Family Vacation
My family and I have been vacationing at the Log Home for over five years. The owners have gone the extra mile to make their home a renter’s delight. So much attention has been given to this beautiful vacation home both on the inside and outside that photos nor words would do it justice. You must come here to see it for yourself. This is the place to go if you are looking for a unique family vacation. The mountain views, the babbling creek, the outstanding amenities and excellent customer service will keep my family returning for many years in the future.

The Brock Log, a privately owned property with a professional management team, has been helping individuals like you create spectacular vacation memories in the Colorado Rockies since 1992. They pride themselves in providing unique accommodations and excellent customer service. Please contact our property manager with any questions, at 719-207-0650.

The Log Home, located three miles outside of Buena Vista, Colorado, was bought by the Brockhaus family in 1992 as an investment property available only for long-term rentals. In 2006, the Log Home was completely renovated and converted into a vacation rental home that has served as a mountain retreat from hot and sticky summers and a headquarters for many winter ski trips.

Why they chose this property

This is a beautiful home which offers all the comforts of your home including washer & dryer and dishwasher. It also has a beautiful rock fireplace. Waterfront property is a premium in Colorado and this house sits right on Cottonwood Creek. It couldn't be any more spectacular with Buffalo Peaks to the east, and the Collegiate Peaks Range to the west.

What makes this property unique

Since 1992, the Brockhaus family has opened up their log home to friends, family, and many guests who share their love for beautiful mountain views, great fishing, and relaxation that can only be found in the mountains. When you arrive at the Brock Log and hear the gentle roar of Cottonwood Creek, see the trout jumping in the private fishing pond and stand in awe of the 14,000+ foot mountains that surround you, you can not help but feel the worries of the day-to-day life melt away.

One of their favorite “rituals” is to have breakfast/coffee out on the deck overlooking the creek and fishing pond in the morning to talk about what everyone wants to do that day. After a fun-filled day of activity (fishing, shopping, rafting, skiing, reading, etc) or non-activity (naps and/or sunbathing on the deck), they reconvene for wine and cheese on the balcony to discuss who is cooking dinner or what great local restaurant they are heading off to. Yep…that is the basic routine. You should try it…it is an easy lifestyle to get used to.
