Excellent coastal getaway.
This was a wonderful place to stay. It felt secluded in the wilderness, but just a short drive away from anything you need. Nice trails to hike with a dog and rocky beaches to explore. The cabin was cozy on the rainy days and there was excellent communication with the hosts. An extra treat having horses to visit on the property and two resident dogs that would stop by for a visit.

Perfect spot for some real peace and quiet
The cabin location is everything if you are looking to unwind and enjoy peace and quiet away from it all. Terri was very easy to deal with and both dogs are as big and friendly as advertised! The cabin is well equipped for most of your needs and I did enjoy the jacuzzi tub after some adventuring. We especially loved having hiking trails right outside the cabin door but Gibsons, Sechelt and all the bays in between are fun to explore too

The cabin was adorable! The hosts really welcomed us with little heart chocolate snacks for the bath and also provided us bath salts for the jacuzzi! Very cozy cabin. Exploring the Sunshine Coast is a must though we did a lot of exploring and hiking! Thank you to the hosts for the lovely cozy weekend!

Relaxing staycation
Terri was a great host! She was super helpful at check in and even spared some of her time a couple days later to introduce us to her animals :) I was totally expecting a quick meet them and hear a bit about them and that was it, but she spent way more time with us; it was amazing! The cabin is great, definitely was nice to know about the well water and the iron beforehand so it wasn’t as shocking haha. Be aware that the tub takes awhile to fill up, but it’s worth! Especially with some bubbles!!If you have the opportunity to stay here, I highly recommend!!

Dreamy cabin
Terri & Dwayne's cabin is exactly what you'd picture if you're imagining the perfect cabin getaway: down a short gravel road, nestled in the trees, and serene. The huge bathtub and on-site laundry area huge assets to this already incredible place. Cowboy and Rancher are loveable and will come say hello.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Terri and I have lived here for 23 years. There is nowhere else I would want to be! When I met the man of my dreams 17 years ago we began to create our vision of a small farm property. We have 3 large horses, 2 miniature horses, 5 chickens and 2 dogs. The deer and bear are nearby and we respect each other's space :) I am an Equine Facilitated Therapist and a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Family Therapist. My husband is a finish carpenter so he has added some nice touches to the cabin. We are so blessed to live here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada - it's definitely a little piece of paradise! The ocean is 2 km down the road and winter sports like snow-shoeing and cross country skiing are just 30 minutes up the mountain behind us. We both love the forest so we have kept lots of trees on our properties which offers privacy, quiet and wildlife. We are both animal lovers (guess that's obvious lol!) who enjoy the simple pleasures of life, a good home-cooked meal (easy for me to say since Dwane does all the cooking), walking the dogs or going for a trail ride, puttering around outside until it gets dark. If you are looking for a break from city life you'll love our little neck of the woods :)

Why they chose this property

Together Dwane and I have homesteaded this property. No one lived on it before and it was treed and covered in blackberry bushes. Any trees that were cut on the property were milled on site and the wood was used to build our house (so the trees never left the property which makes us happy!) We wanted to share our little piece of paradise so we acquired a log cabin for others to come stay in. The cabin was placed so that it has its own acre of privacy, yet it adjoins the remaining 3.5 acres. It's a great place to rest and relax, go out and have fun, then come home and rest and relax again. We mean for the cabin to be your home while you are here. While It is private, should you need anything we can attend to it right away. If you would like to do an Equine Therapy session while you are here let me know and we can set that up although there is an additional cost for that. It's a great way to learn about communication, trust, boundaries, leadership ability all while having fun in the great outdoors! There's so much to do here on the Sunshine Coast, especially if you want to get away from the city and enjoy a much slower pace in the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

We have kept our prices on the lower side to encourage families with children to come and enjoy this awesome vacation spot. So much to do around here! Listening Horse Ranch Retreat is also a great place for a private couple's weekend or for a quiet personal retreat. And if you want to visit the farm animals you are welcome to come at a special discounted cost for cabin guests. You can also book a horse assisted therapy session with Terri. We have 2 friendly dogs and your dog is most welcome here :) If you would enjoy an artsy, outdoorsy kinda place with lots of beaches and trails and cultural events this is the place to be!
