A Native Coastal New Zealand Experience - Seaviews Pataua

Float beneath the stars in a cedar hot tub on top of a hill surrounded by 50 acres of virgin native bush &
sea with magnificent Ocean beaches & a view out to the Poor Knight Islands.. Here the stars seem closer and the rest of the world a million miles away. The hot tub is filled with mineral rich spring water from 100metres below the surface. Space to enjoy and the feeling of being alone in paradise is so uplifting. See how it looked to Captain Cook as you walk through the bush track entrance at your doorstep (this is original native bush not regrowth) . Stand beneath estimated 800 year old Kauri trees there are hundreds of young and old Kauri trees, ancient Puriri (hollow fallen trunks where the Maori buried their dead), Nikau palms & stands of Ponga ferns. Be silent to view & hear wood pigeon their wings thundering along the tree tops, tui, fern birds, kiwi (at night) & moreporks. 3 Kayak available 2 are excellent quality fishing kayaks. Paddle up the river at the end of the driveway to a secluded beach with surfing, paddle boarding, fishing & snorkeling activities to choose from. Transport to/from airport or outings available by arrangement. Small boat launch possible 1 min from driveway & larger boats can launch at Pataua Beach 5 minutes up the road. Walk along the golden sands of Pataua beach & soak in the wood fueled bath at night beneath the stars. Natural spring water on tap. The house includes 2 double rooms & 1 single, a huge open plan kitchen/living area with large size table tennis table, a lounge room with fireplace & TV, 2 toilets & one bathroom. Plenty of off road parking. Seaviews Pataua is more than just accommodation. It is a native NZ experience at your doorstep.

Pataua - A Piece of Paradise!
Such a fantastic location, where you can bliss out staying at the property or go adventuring at local beaches, kayak the river, bush walk or use as a home base to travel a little further North. The property has everything you need for your stay and obviously the pool and hot tub are highlights, but so is the view, the bush and the abundance of serenity.

Short family break away
We had a great time at Sea Views Pataua. Hosts very responsive and helpful. House well set up. We kayaked, swam in the pool, and the ocean a short drive away, and loved the hot tub. Table tennis was fun. Great food platters at Tahi Cafe.

A beautiful and peaceful getaway
My family and I really enjoyed our stay over Christmas, it was a great place to relax. It's a gorgeous location with a great view from the pool and hot tub and the hosts were super communicative and happy to help with anything we needed. Only recommendation would be to bring your sun umbrella if you want to enjoy outdoor dining.

Walk, soak and relax
Nice serene location. A good bush walk on the property then into the pool and hot tub. A lot of native wildlife. Saw our first native NZ praying mantis. Maria and Scott were great with any help we needed and telling us about the area. Didn't get to use the kayaks as the weather was rough. Inside the house you could hardly tell it was windy and it had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves.

Nice but not quite what we expected
Photos were lovely on the listing but didn't really show the whole picture. Lovely location and looks great driving up to to the house. The house is nice; not really cosy, but clean and contained good amenities including heat pump; and beds were comfy! The pool is a good size but is in the middle of the grass with a moveable ladder for access. Wood-fired hot tub looked great in photos; is tucked in amongst natural surrounds so private, but is also accessed from house across grass. Sadly the weather was bad for all but 2 days of our stay so we didn't utilise it (even though hosts kindly offered to fire it up for us several times). Bikes were available, but we couldn't find helmets. Kayaks were also available and the hosts were wonderful with their repeated offers to transport them to the estuary for us. The listing said kayaks could be launched across road from the end of the driveway, but did not mention the driveway was around 900 metres of metal road. Goats were very cute and entertaining! We couldn't fault the helpfulness, hospitality and friendliness of the hosts however the property we felt was oversold on the listing.

Beautiful escape from everything!
A great sized pool for the four of us to play in! The ping pong table in the kitchen was a fun addition! The communication with Maria was great and our two boys loved the chance to feed the baby goats. Size and cleanliness of the property was as advertised. Maria was on hand to organise the hot tub which was a lovely addition to the stay. We ended up taking the car to the beach on a few occasions and enjoyed paddling with the rays! We were grateful of the prior communication to stock up on food before arrival as the location is very remote.

Extremely remote and far from amenities in the area. Ideal if you want seclusion and quiet. Not so great if you're looking to be close to amenities that would be most often used by families with kids. Hosts are very comprehensive in communication.

Loved this secluded property with plenty of room to get away from each other, my fave was sitting in the hottub listening to the Tui's and laying in the hammocks reading - had a great time thanks Maria & Scott

Such stunning views and location
We absolutely loved our stay here. So much to offer with kayaking, swimming pool, sun loungers, hot tub and nearby the beach is beautiful and an estuary for a change to the surf. There’s a lovely cafe nearby that does the best ice creams. Hosts are lovely. This place is such a gem and wouldn’t disappoint. Something to offer for all ages.

Lovely getaway
Loved the property, with the hottub an added bonus. The river was awesome for kayaking and paddle-boarding with the nearby beach (10 minute drive) perfect for swimming and surfing. The rural setting allowed us to disconnect from the rest of the world although you still had the creature comforts that teens require. We will definitely be going back during the summer months. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating with any requests that we did have. Overall a wonderful long weekend was had by our family

Beautiful!
Beautiful place hidden among the hectares of land and centuries-long Kauri trees. A nice place to stay if you want to get away from a city noise. Heaps of things to do - outdoor spa, bikes, pool, ping pong, walking treck and beach. Amanda and Scott were very helpful, thank you very much!

Perfect location, house a little bit disappointing
The location is very beautiful, could not be better! But the house is not quite the standard we are used to. The kitchen is poorly equipped, the oven does not work properly, only one frying pan. The size of the living room is small, wheras the kitchen is huge.

Really enjoyed the stay. It was a little isolated for our liking, but we should have looked at the location more before booking. But if you like the isolation then it is all there for you to enjoy a great stay.

Beautiful location
This is a great place to stay - we had a few hiccups but Maria was quick to sort . - she also went out of her way to make sure we had a great time with helping Alan take a trip through the estuary , and introduced us to the goats and gave us heaps of advice about the area. A truly lovely lady - and the position of this property is exceptional- it is a steep driveway especially with a caravan on but we made it up ok. The best bit is definitely the outdoor hot tub which is a dream - and we had so much fun in the pool. Some things which could be improved for the next visitor s are a new can opener -, more coat hangers and an extra pillow - also , there was not a single roasting dish to be found. We had the caravan with us so we used all our gear when we didn't have what we needed- and under the dishwasher and oven was dirty and by the washing machine was lots of old powder from the machine moving - we understand that this was the first let for the property in a while - In fairness any problem we had was sorted straight away by Maria - extremely helpful and kind to us - as soon as I asked a mop was provided - and I'm sure she would be that way with any reasonable requirements- thanks Maria and Scott.

We had a wonderful time at Seaview. Such a stunning outlook, native forest around us, great accommodation... and then there are the goats! (say Hi to Sid for us). The perfect stop for a peaceful getaway. Thanks again, Maria

Bush retreat
Maria was an extremely helpful, kind and available host. Our 3 teen daughters, were delighted with the outside pool: totally magical to swim and overlook the beautiful sea in the distance. While the girls were captured by the cool pool, we were soothed and relaxed by the cedar hot tub while being serenaded by moreporks. Pataua North nearby is also pretty special: catching the 'lazy river' was one of our best ever family experiences. It's one of the strongest memories from a trip that's been full of great memories - so a big, beautiful tick from us! (Our overladen totally family- seven seater front wheel drive did struggle with the gravel driveway on the first trip in. However, once we'd unloaded, our car managed the drive.)
