What a great little cottage for a long weekend in the UP. Super clean and the space was perfect for 4 adults, 2 kids, and our dog. Loved the peaceful lake in the mornings and evenings. The night sky was also INCREDIBLE. Marge was a fabulous host and responded quickly to questions. Definitely recommend!
Our stay on S. Manistique Lake was nothing short of wonderful. The cottage was super clean; the indoor and outdoor spaces are very nice and take advantage of the wonderful lake views. Marge was great to communicate with before and during the rental, providing helpful information and quickly responding to any questions. All in all enjoyed our stay very much and definitely would return if in the area again.
The house was comfortable, clean and cozy. Plenty of space for parents, kids and a dog. The lake is stunning and quiet. The location was great for day trips to multiple other towns and waterfalls. Great stay.
We all look for that ‘one place’ that’s perfect. Your eyes are bleary reading the descriptions. Stop now - you found it! Owner is prompt and helpful. This well-supplied cottage is roomy and comfortable. The setting idyllic. With your boat you can be up at dawn and fishing in 5 minutes. This place is a gem. Great location to visit anywhere in the UP. Beautiful views. The only thing you’ll question is availability. Grab this one before someone lucky gets it before you.
A group of us came up to do some ice fishing and our experience was incredible.
Marjorie was fast to respond to all questions and answered them professionally. The house was very clean and absolutely beautiful. The view off the back deck was second to none. And the fishing was incredible with lots of Walleye, pike and perch being caught right out in front of the house.
We will definitely be back.
Gorgeous view, very clean, and tons of memories made! All conversations with the owners were wonderful, made me feel like their home was our home too while we were there. Book this place!
We had a great spring break/long weekend with our boys who attend NMU. The area was so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed dining in Curtis, Germfask, and at the house with all the essentials. We spent most of our time ice fishing on the lake. In the evening we played and learned new games. Cell service was moderate and just enough, but we did not miss the internet. A great time and family vacation.
Just got back from ice fishing weekend w the boys. House was perfect. Updated interior, comfortable beds, couches just ok, kitchen on smaller side, perfect location(5 mins from town), and we caught lots of fish in front of house and also out from Wolfe Bay boat launch. Owners stopped by and were very friendly. Will be back for sure! If Snowmobiling trail connects to residential street this house is located on.
The location was perfect, which is just South Curtis, right on the lake, easy entry for either icefishing or snowmobiling. The home was well appointed with updated furniture, and a very easy layout. Will stay here many times more in the future.
We were up there for a short stay over Christmas. The cottage was very clean and cozy. It was the perfect space for my sister and I to celebrate Christmas together with our families. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils so we had everything we needed for a nice Christmas dinner. Marge was very prompt in answering any questions we had. If we rent a cottage in Curtis again, we will definitely be staying here!
I stayed here in the fall and had the best time. It was hard to leave during the day because the view was spectacular, the lake is beautiful. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, and the area peaceful. It’s a great location for day trips to all the places you want to see in the U.P. It was so nice to return after a long day to the cottage and have a bonfire. Thank you for sharing your home, I’d love to stay again.
Nice layout, very clean, nice spot on lake and in neighborhood. Just right distance from town, and attractions in area. Hosts were very accommodating, easy to reach, and quite responsive.
This cottage was perfect for my family. It was the perfect location and home base for us as we traveled to several sites. We went to Oswald's Bear Ranch, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island, Pictured Rocks, and Grand Marais. All of those were within an hour drive of the cottage (except Mackinac Island which was a little over an hour). Although we were very busy, we very much enjoyed our time at the house relaxing, and hanging out on the deck, my 2 kids liked playing the big Jenga. We rented kayaks from Northland Outfitters and they delivered them to the cottage, we loved using those on the lake.
The house itself is exactly as pictured. It was clean when we arrived. Lots of towels provided, blankets, and we used the fans every night in the bedrooms. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and a few dinners at the house. The beds were comfortable and showers have great water pressure...almost too good! If I had to give a suggestion, it would be to replace the couch. It's not comfortable and makes really loud noises every time someone sits or moves. But we would not hesitate to stay again at this cottage again! And thanks for being pet friendly, our pup LOVED being in the lake and greeting the ducks every morning. :)
A bit tricky to find but a lovely cabin for our few days in UP. Grand daughters loved seeing Tahquamenon Falls. We did s'mores over the fire pit and girls liked being in the lake.
Everything about this property was exactly as the listing described and perfect for our needs. The home owner was very helpful and responded very quickly to every question we had prior to our stay.

We live in Empire, Michigan and one of our favorite vacation locations is almost anywhere in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We built a cottage in Curtis as it seemed to be centrally located and we love the area and lake. We build custom homes and cottages in the area. Steve loves to salmon and walleye fish.
Why they chose this property
This cottage was available and located a few blocks from our family cottage. We loved the area and lake spending, many wonderful weeks and weekends on S. Manistique Lake. We purchased this cottage knowing friends and family would also enjoy vacations spent here year around.
What makes this property unique
This lake is a great lake for fresh water fishing of many different species. Gorgeous views from Long Point with lake on both sides. My favorite ritual is to sit on the deck with a hot cup of coffee and listen to the wildlife wake up.
