Val’s house is very comfortable and well equipped. It gets warm in the afternoon but catches lots of sea breeze. Communication was easy. Val lives across the road and was very friendly and checked in on us to have sure we had everything we needed. It was a great stay.We were mainly in Kaiteriteri as a base for day hikes in the park which worked well. One day we walked in from Marahau (a 15 min drive) to Apple Tree, which was just ok. The walks and beaches are nicer further in—so it is as better to get a water taxi to Bark Bay (or Tonga Quarry) and hike to Awaroa to get picked up. Although the taxis are expensive, those were nicer hikes and beaches. Be aware of winds in the afternoon can make a choppy return trip. Our only issue with the house location was the walk down to the beach is kind of a steep haul and involves a stretch walking on a narrow and winding road with no shoulder. There is some traffic in summer, so I would not be comfortable with kids doing it alone and would not want to do it myself after dark. Just something to be aware of if you plan on mainly using the Kaiteriteri beaches.
Lovely studio accommodation, perfect base for exploring Kaiteriteri and Abel Tasman and for relaxing. The host lovely and welcoming. We hope to be back again!
Our stay at Val’s was absolutely magical! The house itself, is perfect! It was spotless, and had everything we could possibly have asked for. It had a beautiful comfy feel to it, it was like a home away from home, we really did fall in love with it. The location is 10/10, we enjoyed the stroll into the shops each day for our morning coffee, the views are breath-taking, and Val is the perfect host (thanks also to Karina!). I’m already planning my next trip back down to stay at Val’s!
Beautiful private home in a quiet, safe neighborhood, easy walk to the beach and easy access to boats/excursions to Abel Tasman National Park. Our hostess Val was very kind and helpful. The house had beautiful views of the ocean from all angles and it had everything we needed! We will definitely recommend Val's Chalet to friends!
Lovely chalet, well stocked with the essential.Comfortable beds and a very relaxing property surrounded by beautiful greenery.View of Kaiteriteri from mezzanine floor.
The chalet was very clean and comfortable with everything you would need for a great stay. Lovely
indoor spaces and decor as well as perfect outdoor spaces. Add to this wonderful views and excellent check in and communication from our hosts. We would certainly wish to return.
The chalet was perfect for a relaxing wee break, it had everything we needed and more (even a brand new queen size bed in the master bedroom ).The views from upstairs looking out to little Kaiteriteri on one side and to the Abel Tasman on the other were fantastic.
Thanks Val and Belle for being great hosts, we would be very happy to book here again.
Overall the chalet was as described, homely and very well stocked with everything we needed. We would have given it a 100% rating if the master queen bed had been of better quality. Val was a very attentive host.
We had a lovely break at Val’s cottage on the hill above Kaiteriteri. The house was very clean and exactly as described, and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Directions for access were very simple and clear. We left the car in the carport and walked down the hill to catch the sea shuttle into the National Park each day. It’s about a 10min walk down to the beach (slightly longer on the way up!). The cottage is in a very quiet area and has views of the ocean from upstairs. A great little place in Kaiteriteri!
My husband and I and our two teenage boys stayed for three nights at the chalet. The boys loved the upstairs loft with an outdoor balcony and comfy window seat offering a great view of the beach and beautiful surrounding areas. The treck up/down to the main Kaiteriteri beach, although not long and really very enjoyable does require a reasonable level of fitness.
The log burner was set up and ready to go and on the night we used it was awesome. Val, our host, made us feel welcome and at home.
Great wee holiday home to relax in away from the immediate hustle of the beaches and camp but close enough to walk to. Has everything you need with plenty of indoor n outdoor options to have space to relax in. Will definitely be staying again.
