About this property

The Mineshaft - Secluded Cabin with Trailer Parking

Relax in our quiet valley after a great day in the Hills!

At 6,000 feet elevation, the air always cools off at night and the view is always pristine. With decks on three sides you can sit in the sun or gaze in the shade. Big beds, lots of room, easy parking, and only about 3 minutes from town. 4-wheel right from the cabin or hop down the road to the Mickelson Trail. Get away to the peace and quiet after a day of checking out the beautiful Black Hills or stay the day amidst the evergreens.

Within minutes of Lead and Deadwood, there's always entertainment, great food and unending sites to take in close to home or travel a little further through Boulder Canyon to Sturgis or through Spearfish Canyon to Spearfish.

The cabin is about three miles from Cheyenne Crossing and the entrance to Spearfish Canyon where you can take in waterfalls, fine dining, hike to the Devil's Bathtub, or just enjoy the wonderful drive.

Closer yet, the Englewood Trailhead is right down the road and provides easy access to the Mickelson Trail for hiking or biking.

We love sharing our cabin with vacationers. We used to rent often so we know what renters are looking for and we believe it's all here!

We are local and will gladly provide assistance throughout your stay as needed. Once your getaway is booked we will provide you with a phone number so that we can keep in touch.

Thank you for your interest. We know you'll love this cabin as much as we do!

THE SPACE:
Spacious 3-level cabin with room for everyone!

The upper level of this cabin is a large loft bedroom (Bedroom #1) that overlooks the living room / kitchen / dining area. No worries about lack of privacy, as the stairway and half-walls block the view from guests below. A king bed, walk-in closet, and private bathroom made this bedroom an oasis!

On the main level you'll find the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Although small in size, this kitchen can do everything! Cook a dinner to enjoy in the adjacent dining room (which seats eight) or grill a meal for an evening out on the expansive deck. The living room has enough comfortable seating for all with a sofa, loveseat, easy chair, and two rockers.

Also located on the main level is Bedroom #2 (with cozy wood walls and a king size bed); Bedroom #3 (newly renovated with a king size bed) and the main bathroom.

The lower level of the cabin provides a large entrance area, perfect for unloading your gear after a day of play. Bedroom #4 (with a queen bed, recliner, and television) shares this area. Guests will have access to a washer and dryer in the adjacent laundry room.

Outside, watch the deer graze across the valley in the morning sun. Take in the fresh mountain air as Whitewood Creek babbles in the background. Hooting owls provide the nightly soundtrack as brilliant stars dance in the wide-open skies.

GUEST ACCESS:
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

**PARKING - we have plenty of it! Vehicles may be parked on the driveway behind the cabin (near the upper entrance); on the level parking pad near the bottom entrance; or on our portion of property across Englewood Road. Bring your toys and trailers!

In case of inclement weather you may also park motorcycles on the cement under the deck.

**ROADS - There is about 2 miles of hard-packed gravel leading to the cabin.

**FIRES - There is a propane-fueled firepit on the deck. No camp fires are allowed by the state without a burning permit which can only be used in the snow.

The cabin has a fireplace on the main level and a pellet stove on the lower level. Guests will not have access to these during the summer.

Great quiet cabin!

Great house in a quiet neighborhood. It was perfect for our 2-family vacation. Short drive to Lead/Deadwood one way or Spearfish Canyon the other. We wish we had more time on our stay to explore more of what the house provided. Lots of trails to explore and a great deck as well. The owners were great to communicate with!

Family Getaway UTV Riding

We had a family trip out to the Black Hills for some UTV and a ATV trail riding. We did some sightseeing along the way. Beautiful weather! The home was cozy and comfortable! We enjoyed a fire at night on the deck. We sat around and had great conversations with our family! The location was secluded and had a place for our trailer and pickup, which was great, because not a lot of places do! There was a lot of accommodations for our family of four. It was easy check in! Everything was done online. They even left a little notes around the home, telling us how to use things! Which is good for somebody who is not so tech savvy… We had our meals there and were able to use the full kitchen! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy home to stay in while you’re out in the Black Hills. We will definitely be staying there again.

Amazing and relaxing

Was a great cozy home. Will be back! Only wish there was Wifi or a land line as our cell phones did not have a strong enough signal to connect. Home is close to everything and such a relaxing atmosphere.

I enjoyed that it was close to town , but not so close that you heard it. For us was just about central located to a we wanted to do. Was very nice place to stay for the Rally this year,so glad I was able to enjoy this cabin. The owners were vert helpful prior to us booking and arrival we it was time to go. Thanks for your hospitality and our memories.. Looking forward to doing it again..

Wonderful weekend getaway

We travel to sturgis atleast once a year to visit family. I am so glad we decided to give this cabin a try instead of staying at a hotel like we usually do. For one the price was way more reasonable and we actually got to spend more quality family time together!! This cabin has ample room for everyone as well as some entertaining extras! Our personal favorites were the pool table down stairs and the use of a grill. I would recommend everyone check it out!

comfortable, clean, relaxing

We had a fun time and enjoyed our time at the property. We had a large group, but were very comfortable. The deck was a perfect place to relax, both in the morning with a cup of coffee or late at night watching the stars. We also enjoyed the opportunity to walk the Trail which is so close.

Great place to stay!

This home was very comfortable to stay in and we sure would have loved to stay an extra week if we could have! Obviously, this home isn't a log cabin and could use a few updates to the exterior; however, the interior is a whole new world with plenty of space for all of us! Deck offered fabulous views and was a great place to spend our mornings and evenings! We cooked a few meals and found the kitchen to be well stocked with dishes and utensils! Although it is a little small, there is plenty of counter space! As for the bedrooms, my only suggestion would be for the owner to maybe put a half dozen hangers in the closets so clothes can be stored away rather than kept in luggage. It really wasn't that big of a deal as there is a dryer in the basement to take wrinkles out in a hurry! It certainly isn't a deal breaker for me! This home is in close proximity to Deadwood and found the location to be perfect! Although some work was being done at cabin next door, we were separated by woods, so privacy and enjoying the open air was never an issue.. We will definitely come back again!

Great location with beautiful scenery!

Wonderful location! The house is located in a quiet, mostly isolated area. Deer were abundant every morning in the front yard. There were many walking trails close by. The house has a beautiful three sided deck with patio furniture and grilling. The inside furniture and bedding were good with available washer and dryer if needed. This is a wonderful and affordable get away. I would not hesitate to return.

Great location and comfort.

This was about as close as you can get to Deadwood. The house was in a nice semi secluded location with great roads in. Three bedrooms that were fully furnished and comfortable. The owners take pride in their place. It was a home away from home for us. Amazing view with a beautiful stream nerby, great background noise while barbecuing on the deck. White tail deer start migrating at dusk which. Can't wait to come back again.

Great place to stay

This is a nice place to stay with a family of 5. Plenty of room for all. Close to town and other things that a family will like to see/do. Best part was hearing the stream across the road, having a serene area, having deer come up to the road & behind the house, and being able to sit on the deck seeing stars.

Peaceful getaway

We had a wonderful, peaceful time in the Black Hills! Linda was great to work with, & everything was clean & ready for our short visit. We enjoyed the patio, grilling out & looking at the stars at night. It is very close to the bike trail which my husband used 2 days of our trip. It was a short trip into Lead where we found the Roundhouse Chop House to be so excellent that we had dinner there twice.

We love sharing our cabin with vacationers. We used to rent often so we know what renters are looking for and we believe it's all here!

Why they chose this property

A lovely cabin with great architectural features and every comfort you could want. Watch deer from the deck in the early mornings and dusky evenings. Listen to owls and watch the stars without city lights interfering.

What makes this property unique

It's rare to find an easily-accessible cabin, in the woods, that also has parking for trailers. Bring your toys and venture out right from the cabin!
