About this property

The Gingerbread Farmyard Tiny Home - Come and Reconnect!

Looking to escape for a little while to a storybook tiny home laced with the enchantment of long ago and surrounded by animals? Then come to the Gingerbread Farmyard Tiny Home! Here you can meet the Sheep, Leo, and Lola as well as the geese, ducks, chickens and pigeons - -and get to know our three little pigs - - Wilbur, who loves a good belly rub, and Julianna and Sylvester! Then, after reconnecting with nature, you can visit the surrounding towns of Burnsville, Spruce Pine, Mars Hill, and Asheville, all just a short drive away. Or, you can take a walk on our country road.

My name is Jacki and my husband is Saleh. We've lived here on Miller Branch Road for 21 years now. My husband built our home, and The Tiny Gingerbread Home. The home that we live in is on the other side of the Aviary across from the Tiny Gingerbread. We have many friendly animals, almost all are rescues. There are two pet sheep and an Aviary of geese, ducks, chickens, and pigeons. And of course, the pigs. We also have two old dogs, Bella and Bandit, and one older cat, Shadow.

Our location is unique. We are on the Yancey-Madison line, making us close enough to everything yet, when you are here, you feel like you're retreating from it all. Actually, we are 25 minutes to North Asheville, and 25 minutes to Spruce Pine. The towns of Burnsville, Mars Hill, and Weaverville are 15 and 20 minutes away. That's why we bought the property years ago, because it was near enough to our family in Asheville, yet we could still have a little taste of the 'wilderness' .

The Tiny Gingerbread Home is really like a little storybook retreat that has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. It has a little living room, little kitchen, little bedroom and little bathroom. It's decorated with antiques and many touches that would make Hansel and Gretel feel right at home! It has a comfortable twin daybed that doubles as a couch in the little living - room. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, a two burner stove top,and a coffeemaker. The little bedroom has a desk and there's room for luggage and hanging clothing. There is also a little dryer to dry the clothing you can wash in the mini washing machine, that sits next to the sink in the kitchen. The Gingerbread has its own little porch and a deck that sits right above the Aviary. It's right next to the Gingerbread FarmYard.

We offer the Tiny Gingerbread as a month or more rental. It is ideal for one person, especially one who works from home. Because we live on the same property, a single person will feel safe here and that's important, especially if you are a woman traveling alone... The internet is commercial grade and is ideal for working online. There is a also a television with ROKU.

Our road is a hard-packed gravel road with some ups and downs. The road is not steep nor curvy, so although higher clearance cars are very comfortable driving on it, all makes of cars can travel on our road but we do advise against extremely low clearance cars. You do not need a four wheel drive for our road, but in Winter, if it snows, a four wheel drive comes in handy! We are a half mile up on Miller Branch Road.

So come for a stay at the Gingerbread Farmyard Tiny Home - - It can be a cozy little adventure!

Serenity

We really enjoyed our stay there. I still watch the videos I took by the stream to take me back to the peacefulness of it all. We loved the farm animals. The little piggies were so cute and the pot belly pig was adorable. The lambs were precious. The Gingerbread House decorations were beautiful. Jackie and Sal were charming. We felt like we’d known them a long time. They provided all the necessities we needed and left cookies for us. The house was warm and comfortable. It was a wonderful stay!

enchanting place

this was a dream come true. Jacki & Saleh became more than friends by the time we left, they became family to us. they went out of their way to help any way they could. our battery went dead on our truck & he was the first to help my husband out & Jacki made our anniversay special by remembering it. our little pups loved her dogs and pig and even her cat. it was so cute since they haven't been around other animals before. i got to meet Lucy and the other sheep. it really was an enchanting place. I'm not even going to lie, i cried when i left. i did not want to leave at all. these 2 people are such amazing people who just take a place in your heart so easily. the cottage is so cute and so many cute things. i noticed something different each day

Love this place!

From arrival to departure, our hosts were delightful! It was exactly like we thought it would be. We enjoyed seeing all the animals. The little gingerbread house was delightful, clean well stocked, and much better than a hotel room. The kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and Jacki even had banana muffin so for us to snack on. Everything you need to cook with was there, but we didn’t use it. The location is adequately described in the listing. It’s in the country. We will definitely stay there again if we are in that area.

The Gingerbread House

The Gingerbread House is a cozy and serene little home. It has everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Just open the front door and listen to the soothing water sounds from the brook. Watch all of the animals as they enjoy their surroundings and mingle with each other. Jacki and Saleh are the best hosts. They take great care in making sure you are comfortable. The Gingerbread House is a fun and comfortable place to stay. Rosanne

Charming Cottage/Charming Hosts

My daughter and I traveled to Asheville for a long weekend. We looked at a lot of places near/in Asheville but my daughter fell in love with the look of the Gingerbread Cottage. We decided it was worth the short drive from Mars Hill to Asheville to stay in such a quaint pace. We arrived quite late since we left after work and it was about a 4 hour drive but our hostess Jacki couldn't have been sweeter. She even brought us some warm naan bread her husband had baked. It was wonderful. The cottage is very small but had everything we needed! The cottage is decorated with all manner of interesting items. There are hand painted walls and antiques to enjoy. Jacki promised a tour of the grounds the next day. We turned in and slept well on the comfortable queen sized bed. We had Biltmore tickets for the next day so we were gone most of the day. We came back early enough to meet some of the animals (the sheep, one of 9 cats-the lovely Marmalade, and Wilbur the pig). I could hear the dogs but never meet them. There was also an avairy We loved our stay and our hosts. We can't wait to go back!

Tiny gingerbread house

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our tiny home so much. We were greeted by Jacki and her husband as soon as we arrived as they were watching for us. They took us to our home away from home and showed us everything thing we needed to know. They were much more than host, they quickly became friends and it was like we were just visiting someone we knew. We even had help with our luggage The home was was beautiful and decorated very cute. It is a tiny house but we had plenty of room and felt like it was cozy. Mom and I travel alot, she had her bedroom and I had a futon that makes a queen bed in the living area, we both had very comfortable arrangements. Oh I forgot mention we had coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some great muffins awaiting our arrival. It is was off the beaten path and there is a dirt road but the road is good and there is a beautiful branch that runs be side of it. We also enjoyed all the different animals they have there . I know you would enjoy your stay!

Wonderful hosts and charming house!

Jacki and Saleh created the most wonderful home for our weekend getaway! They were gracious hosts and happily welcomed us in the pouring rain to give us a tour :) The Gingerbread home was very clean and well stocked with all items we needed. We had a lovely weekend and really enjoyed all the animals (especially Wilbur)! Would gladly book the Gingerbread house again.

Very nice host and a great place to stay!!

My sister and I absolutely loved this little house!! Jacki and her husband were fantastic host and went above and beyond for us. They knew we weren’t gonna get in til midnight, so they turned the lights on in the house and left us a little snack. We had fun feeding and hearing the stories about all the animals. Jacki gave us a little gift to remember our stay and we sure hope we get to come stay again!

Hosts were very nice. Heater worked well. Shower was warm. All cookware and dinnerware needed to make and serve any meal were provided. Towels provided. Fairly spacious house separate from others. Very close to Wolf Ridge Ski Resort. The gravel road is maintained to avoid excess snow and ice.

Perfect weekend getaway!

Could not have asked for a better stay. The hosts were wonderful. The cottage was an adorable, comfortable and relaxing space that made us feel instantly at home. The many thoughtful touches (and bread for the ducks!) took our stay from “wonderful” to “we can’t wait to come back!”
