Great time for the whole family!

We had such a wonderful time at Lake George! Inside the cabin was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed (except towels and food of course). Outside we took advantage of the fire pit and gas grill nearly every night. There was also a picnic table, lawn chairs, and clothes line for hanging out wet towels. We never wanted to leave! The lake was great for the kids (and adults) who loved jumping and diving off the dock and taking out the boats. We even had several eagle sightings during our trip. When the weather got too cool for the water the kids ran over to the play structure and my son especially enjoyed the ping pong table. There is a nice town nearby, but other than running to the grocery store and checking out Irons Park we really had no desire to leave the lake. We are all looking forward to coming back!

Perfect cottage set up with everything you need in the units and on the premises

Carin is a class act. Very accommodating and informative before during and after our stay. The cottage are clean and though they are no thrills in terms of fininishings, it's perfect for a cottage. Kayaks and row boat to use were great add ons. Will certainly be back

AWESOME CABIN AND WEEKEND RETREAT

I spent 2 nights in Cabin #4, right on the beach and it was fantastic. Our hostess, Carin, is a wonderful, accommodating owner/operator who very clearly loves running this resort. There are not enough kind things to say about how welcoming and accommodating she was to our small group. This is a perfect location for a large group to rent out the entire retreat and we hope to return with our families to do just that. The cabins are cabins, but there is a house on the property available for rental if you prefer less rustic accommodations - don't expect a Marriott hotel room in terms of furnishings in the cabins, but DO expect the CLEANLINESS of a Marriott. Our cabin was SPOTLESS, CLEAN AND FRESH. It had a well-appointed kitchen with most things we needed to BBQ and have decent home-cooked meals. There was a comfortable double bed, sofa sleeper and a futon (you may still want a blow up mattress to lay on top if you have one-I'm a bit of a princess when it comes to my mattress). Carin even supplies line-dried, fresh as the morning sun linens. Seriously. The lake was clean and the swimming area had a hard sandy bottom and Carin works to keep the beach area sandy and clear of any grass that may wash ashore. There are paddle boats, kayaks, a fishing boat and a paddle board for use by all guests free of charge, too. There are really great playsets on property for the kids, a volley ball net and court and a ping pong table, as well. There was a fire ring just outside our cabin door, lakeside, making the evenings really enjoyable for our "girls trip". It's just a really cool place to stay and there's no way you can beat the price. Go here! Stay here! And come back! We're going to.

About the host

Hosted by Carin Sturm

Host profile image
Carin Sturm has owned this property for 20 years. I love welcoming guests as they arrive and during their stay they become friends. I consider it a privilege and blessing to be able to live on the north shore of this beautiful lake where peace and quiet is the norm. Sharing this precious little resort is the best part. Seeing families come and relax, play, sit around their bonfires and listening to laughter and singing brings immense joy to my heart. I have 4 beautiful granddaughters who love to stay with me and enjoy all the activities too.

Why they chose this property

I am blessed to be able to live on this beautiful lake and have the opportunity to provide a comfortable, clean place for families to come, be together and enjoy the good old fashioned pleasures of life like swimming, boating, fishing, playing ball, sitting around a campfire, eating or playing a game on the picnic table in front of their cabin. This is my 20th year here and I look forward to seeing everyone each year. There are always lots of kids to play with and it is fun to make new friends. I truly enjoy getting to know my guests who quickly become Lake George Family Members. My heart smiles "real big" when we see families hanging out, relaxing, laughing, playing and singing together. It is a real joy to see how the children grow from one year to the next too. It would be my pleasure to welcome you to Lake George Resort and get to know you too.

What makes this property unique

I love living on the water's edge and my guests love it too. We have a swing in front of our house and I love to just sit here and watch the sunshine dance off the lake and listen to the breeze moving through the willow trees and birds singing. It is a perfect place to unplug, relax, be still and let God speak to you. Your cabin is clean and comfortable yet has the unique up north, rustic appeal that provides everything you need to help you feel at home. Being only 5 miles from town and the hospital is very convenient. Being 4 miles from Exit 212 on I-75 makes travel time to us very easy too from almost anywhere in Michigan. We also have dining hall with 5 tables with chairs and another frig. where large family groups can gather to eat, play games or just hang out.
