The perfect spot on a magnificent stretch of sandy beach is waiting for a relaxing couples' gathering or a family getaway! Halfway between the quaint Oregon beach towns of Yachats and Waldport, this tasteful beachfront home provides the perfect getaway for up to 6 people. Just 18 steps down your private stairway to the beach, Heron Song is located on a quiet dead end street with ample parking and features a lawn area, hot tub, and expansive deck overlooking Tillicum Beach.
The home features a Queen bed and full bath on first floor, a second King suite with an ocean view and full bath upstairs. Cozy up to a wood fire in the living room (or make one on the beach!), whale watch from the comfort of the inside or on the large deck overlooking the ocean and watch the glorious sunset over the Pacific Ocean from your private perch above the beach. In addition to the main house there is a detached second floor master suite with Queen bed, full bath and ocean view! This detached suite has a sun room with a magnificent ocean view, a double futon fold out, full bath with shower, small refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave and toaster oven. If you choose, you never have to leave this romantic suite!
The home has wifi, flat screen TVs, and DVD players. Take a 3.5 mile walk down the beach to explore the charming and artsy town of Yachats, go another few miles south to hike the magnificent Cape Perpetua State Park with tidepools and breathtaking beach and mountain paths to meander. And 3.5 miles north enjoy the beach town of Waldport, rent a boat and rings to go crabbing, or go on up to Newport and enjoy a bowl of hot chowder from The Chowder Bowl. Dogs are welcome on the main floor or the apartment of Heron Song and will love to frolic at the beach! Wash the sand off yourself or your pup in the outdoor heated shower positioned perfectly next to the hot tub!

Loved the view & beach access

View is beautiful. It was nice to have beach access. Stairs are not suitable for seniors or small children. The house is older and is in need of a refresh & deep cleaning. The furniture is pretty worn & dirty.

Overall an enjoyable stay

Excellent location, comfortable furnishings, lovely foliage in the yard. We felt that the rental company was more generous in their supplies than others. Lots of games and puzzles to choose from. We especially enjoyed relaxing and chatting in the cozy chairs in the living room area looking out on the ocean. Loved that it was a quick walk down to the beach! Some downsides were the two Queen beds were actually double beds, not queens as advertised. The railing around the porch hits right at the coastline view so you don't have the best view of the ocean from inside the house or on the porch unless you're standing. Windows in the detached apartment had no window coverings and neighbors can see in through all the beautiful windows on all four walls. Outdoor lights were finnicky and didn't stay on (both outside the main house and the apartment).

Needs TLC

Cute house, great location BUT this house needs some TLC and a deep cleaning! The smell of seafood and dog urine are strong in the main house and the apartment smells like mildew. There are no blinds or curtains in the apartment, so it's bright early mornings and no privacy. The stairs to the beach have seen better days, with no hand rail and a crack in the middle that small dogs can not navigate. We ended up walking down the road to the public access. It's a cute place but it could really use some repairs.

Great location, limited kitchen

You're at the beach for the location, and this location was perfect. Quiet, on the ocean, great views from house, deck, and hot tub. My only issue is the kitchen. I don't like going away for a couple days and having to bring or buy spices and condiments. They had salt and pepper and that's it. If you're cooking, it was limited. The stove is in bad shape, toaster didn't work, frying pans were warped.

Perfect for a rainy coast weekend

Adorable house with great beach access. The hot tub is back on the property so you aren't able to see the beach very well but it was covered and sheltered which was great for the very rainy weekend.

Heron Song vacation

The house is perfect, as my wife said, of all the vacation houses we have stayed in, every summer since 1998, this one was the closest to the ocean! The area between Newport and Yachats is an incredible part of the Oregon coast and Heron song adds to it!

Wish I could live there!

Awesome location, view and nice rooms. I loved the big deck on the beach and spacious yard for our dogs. The hot outdoors shower, laundry room, and game room in the garage was a big plus. The home needs a little TLC but its great for a beach house. I would stay there again.

The location is amazing!!!

This house and property location is excellent!! It is just steps away from the beach. Outside is very maintained with a nice deck, clean hot tub and an outdoor shower with hot water!! Inside the house was the biggest issue. It was pretty dirty. Cobwebs, tons of dust covering the fan blades, dog hair, spilt coffee on the floor, dead bugs on the window ledges, grease all over the outside of the microwave, screens missing on most of the windows and old toilet seats. Fixing these things would be easy and pretty low cost. I will add that the bedding was very clean, the beds were comfy, and the upstairs room and loft is the best! Oh, and the grill is in good condition. I would stay here again in hopes that these problems would be fixed.

Yachats rental

Great house on the shore line. It was great to have the steps that went right down to the beach. The location was great to all the areas that we visited. You should consider having a Keurig and more comfortable pillows. I regretted not bringing my own pillow. Replace the can opener that does not work and replace the burned out lightbulbs. Overall, we had a great stay.

Great place on the coast!

We really enjoyed our stay. It’s a lovely house with ocean views and a separate apartment with its own sun room. We loved the easy access to the beach for long walks and nearby Yachats for fresh seafood meals. The house was comfortable and we really enjoyed having our dogs there as well. Some of the furniture has a little wear and needs updating but overall the place was cozy for a largely rainy weekend with a few bits of sunshine. Thanks and we hope to return!

Amazing views

Stayed here over spring break with the kids. Waking up and walking down the beach was so nice. The hot tub was great! The road to the house is very bumpy so just prepare for that when you turn off the highway in a hurry. If I ever get to back to the coast again we would definitely try and get this place again. 10/10 all the stars!

Unbelievable spot on the beach

We enjoyed everything about our stay, from the beach walks, to local shopping and dining. Luna's is a must for the Halibut fish and chips. Great time, thanks for having our family.

What a view!

We had a great stay, already planning to come back. The yard is not fully fenced but we just put our cooler in the gaps and that worked for our dogs. The beach access was great. I do wish they had blinds or curtains in the apartment above the garage all our neighbors could see right In so that was a little uncomfortable.

Lovely views and location

Location is perfect - right on the beach, with a nice sized yard overlooking the water and a private beach entrance. Lots of natural light in the house and little apartment. We ran into a few issues when it came to house supplies - for example we couldn't find any salt and pepper, firewood, lighter for the fire, or a hatchet to cut wood. Given that the last vacation home I stayed at was well stocked, and that the total price of our weekend stay here was pretty substantial, I figured we wouldn't need to bring these things. We ended up buying them in town, so it ended up being fine, but little things like that really make a difference. You really can't be upset with a view like that but a little love in the details goes a long way. All in all, it was a lovely weekend and we had a great time.

Lovely spot; recommend with some qualification

I just completed a tranquil 4-night stay at Heron Song. Overall, the place was great, and it was thrilling to see how close high tide gets. There were a handful of issues that cropped up, however. The WiFi connection was spotty, and I found myself constantly getting kicked off it on my cell phone and tablet. Although the yard is *mostly* fenced, there are enough gaps in it that I never felt comfortable letting my dog off leash. There was NO hot water in the downstairs shower. Lastly, the handrails on the stairway down to the beach (and depicted in the photos) are gone. The steps were uneven enough and sometimes far enough apart that I did not feel safe using the staircase. Fortunately, Oregon beaches are public property, so we had multiple options of getting to the beach. Although these were inconveniences, it was not enough for me to never return, as the location and views were amazing.

October Vacation

The house has great bones. The location is perfect! We loved the beach and the nearby towns and shops. We celebrated our 39th anniversary a few houses away from where we stayed on our honeymoon. The area has really not changed much. Great memories!

Sad to say….

We have stayed at this property on several occasions, perfect location and direct access to the beach. Sad to say this will be our last stay at Heron Song. This property is severely lacking in maintenance. Things are falling apart, no screens on the windows, missing shade in the master bedroom which allows the sun to stream in all day and give beach walkers a great view of the bedroom at night. Toilet seats are coming apart and cabinet doors falling off. There was also a large amount of spider webs and dog hair on everything. Also there is no longer a handrail on the beach access steps (not good for older folks). It’s sad to see this house fall apart, we have so many memories there.

Million dollar views , low quality furnishings

Heron Song provided an amazing month long stay primarily because of the views & conveniences, great neighborhood. Extras like washer/dryer/gas grill etc were clean and well functioning.plenty of clean towels and needed items such as toilet paper/ paper towels. We were disappointed by the aging and decrepit furniture. Stained throw rugs and an overall musty smell. In addition to the sagging and worn furniture, one of the more frustrating th8ngs was the fact that almost 100% of the window screens were gone or torn with large holes. The house stays so cool and wonderful with windows open however having flies come in was a high price to pay. In the evenings, moths would fly in through unscreened windows as they are drawn to the lights. One of the large windows in the master bedroom was missing blinds or shades so if you did want to sleep in, there wasn’t a way to keep sunlight out. Examples The kitchen faucet broke ( it actually fell off) as did one of the handles to flush the toilet in the master bath. It did take a couple of calls to get someone out to fix both but they did take care of it . This is a beach house which experiences non stop ocean winds and salt so I imagine that upkeep is a challenge . However at the price point ( we paid close to $450 a night) , we expected a little more. Again, I can’t understate the amazing views from sunrise to sunset; incredible! The beach is beautiful, very wide at this spot in Yachats with plenty of room for walks, sandcastle building, reading, relaxing etc. The property works for all ages of people, kids, elder etc . It is also dog friendly although the fenced yard isn’t secure due to a few holes in the fence. The flowers and shrubbery in the yard are a delight. We never tired of the amazing colors and beautiful landscaping.
