We had a lovely time! Communication with the owners was prompt and pleasant. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed paddle boarding, swimming, and canoeing!
The location is beautiful of this lovely little camp. We really enjoyed our time on the lake. The lake is beautiful and clear and the whole house is centered around the private lake views. The house and property were filled with everything you need to enjoy your stay with lots of extras to make it homey. We enjoyed using the firepit to roast some smores, paddling in the kayaks, splashing in the lake and enjoying the sunsets. Spending the 4th of July here was extra special with the boat parade and fireworks for neighboring properties. It was easy to drive into town to get food in less than 8 mins and was easy access to day trips to Portland, Bar Harbour and even the movie theatre! Great trip and thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.
My husband, myself, and our two boys (3 and 8 months) loved our stay at the lake. Darcey and family did such a lovely job renovating the cabin — we loved all the original details they kept giving the place some charm while managing to make everything feel really clean and new. They provided everything you needed and all the towels / beds / sheets / pots and pans / furniture etc seemed to be brand new. The lake front is better the photos. There’s lots of wild life - loons, owls, bald eagles, tons of fireflies at night. Truly magical. BUT the one downside is that the upstairs of the camp, where the three bedrooms are, are not insulated and the roof of the house bakes, getting full sun all day. We didn’t get that hot of weather (70s mostly, some high 80s 1-2 days) but the upstairs was HOT. Our baby monitor registered over 95 degrees up there almost every day. We purchased a cheap digital
Thermometer just to make sure it was accurate and it was. We couldn’t let our kids nap up there which was a huge problem. Even at 7pm when it was bedtime for the kids, it was still in the mid 80s up there. Doable but not particularly comfortable. For adults it’s not an issue if you go to bed at 10 or later and put the fans in and windows open. But if you have young kids who nap this is something to know. Hopefully they will get a more powerful AC as they one they had did not lower the temp. Seems like a simple fix and then the place will be truly perfect!
I've never swam in such clear, clean-feeling lake water -- I went in every single day, even though it was a little chilly. And the privacy is fabulous, with the woods coming down to the lake on either side. We could have been in our own faraway retreat! It does get hot upstairs, but the air conditioner definitely got the job done (and I say this as a menopausal woman, lol).
Well appointed cottage in a great location. Exceptional amount of privacy for a lakeside camp - you can't even see the neighbor's houses on either side. Fishing was a little slow but my son reeled in a 4 lb largemouth bass.
My husband and I had such a great time here. The cabin was perfect for us. It had everything we needed and the owners were easy to contact and very quick to respond with any questions. It was very private, peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking, grilling and sitting by the firepit at night watching the stars.
Would highly recommend!
If you’re looking for a great place to get away from the city and enjoy some peace this is the place to go. This house is situated on a quiet lake with great views.
This is a great camp situated on the Big Lake in Dexter, Maine!
It is wooded on both sides so we had plenty of privacy when we wanted it. Also wonderful neighborhood with plenty of parking and an amazing waterfront. Easily parked two boats on they dock & enjoyed the abundance of Loons & the family of Ducks every morning. Also great fishing right off the dock!
We will definitely be returning next summer as you couldn't ask for nicer owners very attentive in making sure that we enjoyed there property to the fullest.
