This house gives you the best view and location in the area. This is our private lake home. No expense spared. It’s fully stocked, totally tricked out, and all about comfort. Easy getaway from Chicago (2hr)/ Indy (1.5hr). Impressive views for huge Lake Shafer lot with more than one dock area. This house was custom designed to accommodate a large group vacation in comfort. OUTSIDE: The house sits on hill facing lake front lot with the 3 level wooden deck around. It provides both sun and shade, sunrise and sunsets. You’ll never forget campfires on Lake Shafer .

• Boating- on property with plenty of space to dock your boat - Public boat launch within minutes of Piper House - Lake Shafer Boat Rental is walkable for renting ski boats, pontoons, jet skis - Fun place for kayaks. Bring them and explore around the Amusement Park on the water.
• Swimming & Fishing- on property - Located in peaceful no wake zone - Dock has ladder for easy in/out of lake. Bring inflatables. - Some of the best fishing in Indiana right off of our dock. - Or walk down the hill to enjoy the Water Park at Indiana . Note: Lake Shafer isn’t a sand bottom lake so there are no natural beaches here. There is a rock retaining wall at the waters edge.
• Golfing – 5 minute drive - Tippecanoe Country Club is a beautiful course on the lake, open to the public. - Pineview Golf Course is a budget friendly option
• Drive In Movie Theater – 5 minute drive. A classic summer activity and one of the last of it’s kind.
• Winery- 15 minute drive. Whyte Horse Winery is so fun with a group for a tasting in their charming farm house with front porch.
• Horseback Riding – 30 minute drive. Crooked Creek Trails is a fun way to see the beautiful Indiana countryside.
• Canoe Trip- 25 minute drive. Hodges Canoe Trips is a favorite of ours.

Senior ladies from grade & high school get-away.

We 5 72 year old ladies had a great time. We went wine tasting, played cards, games and just talked and laughed. The house was very nice. The water had a horrible smell. There was a water cooler but the jug was empty. The lights were on the ceiling far away from the floor. Hard to read anything. The lamps in the bedrooms didn’t work. But nothing stopped us from having a great time.

Beautiful view and house!

House was great! We wanted to stay longer! The only issue was the water - some of our group are not used to septic. (I’m a country girl and I had no issue with it though) Lots of space so we could all be separate or together depending on what we were doing. And the only other thing was decks could have been cleaner. Would stay here again.

Annual July Vacation

We always enjoy this house. This year there was a lot of food particles in the living room and child handprints all over the tv. We are not upset. We just wanted to make you aware. Also, you can get rid of the egg smell from your water heater by adding a magnesium rod to it.

Great location

House is perfect location. Fits a big family! Could use some outdoor clean up and maintenance on decks. Easy stuff like Blowing leaves and spiderwebs. The well water stinks.

Purdue visit

We stayed at this property while in town for a Purdue college visit and football game. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was great and we would love to explore more during the summer when the weather is warmer and we could make more use of the lake. Some reviews commented on the hard water. And it was however the owner provided a water cooler with drinkable water which was appreciated. The house was spacious and fit our needs perfectly. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful lake front view, excellent location easy access to Amusement park, 5 minute drive to local shopping, food places. This home has all the necessary items needed to plan your family vacation. Large dinner table to enjoy all your fantastic meals together. The Amenities are just as the listing shows if. More then enough. Super super clean.

Nice stay on Lake Shaffer

We stayed for 3 nights. The property was just a short walk from Indiana Beach amusement park. Watching the ferris wheel lights at night was a family favorite.

Nice place, but well short of expectations

We expected a civilized home stay for the cost of this listing. However, it was more accurately a "camping out" experience so we feel this listing is overpriced. Reasons follow: - Home is at the end of a long gravel driveway with 10mph speed limit; local neighbors actively engage guests when speed exceeded - Excessive bugs/nests at home entrances, making entry uncomfortable, as well as spiders inside the house - The tap water had an extremely foul smell like sulphur or rotten eggs, especially when showering; necessary to buy bottled water for whole stay, even for brushing teeth - Kitchen counter extremely sticky and no spare paper supplies provided Owner was pleasant to work with but falls well short of disclosing the extremity of the home's limitations. However, with minimal effort much of it can be overcome. Some examples include a) perform sufficient cleaning, b) provide modest spare supplies and c) install point of use or whole home filtered water. Either that or bring the listing price down to something more sensible.

Amazing Fall Weekend

We came from Washington DC for a Purdue University football game and stayed with friends and family for the weekend! The views were stunning! We loved the house and decks. If we find ourselves back in this area would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Beautiful view for our stay in early Sept

Place was just as pictured. Perfect location with beautiful view of lake and Indiana beach. The only downsides were how hard the mattresses are. If you are used to that then this will not bother you. But they seem new so maybe that’s why they are so stiff. We all left very sore after 3 days since we were so busy on the lake everyday and then the hard mattresses did us no favors at night. But again, this is just a preference thing. And also wished the outdoor furniture would have at least been hosed off or just generally sprayed for spiders. I am no stranger to lake life, so I’m aware there will always be spiders and creatures outside and on the dock. But this place was covered in spiders and webs. We did our best to clear some chairs and table of spiders and webs. We wish we could of enjoyed more of the dock down by the water, but it was way worse then the porch on the house. I just don’t know if this usually isn’t a problem, but just wish (for what we paid) that we could have utilized all the docks and porch’s and all the seating you have available without being concerned about all the spiders on everything. We did see the bug spray under the sink. But the amount of spiders outsides was no match to us trying to use the bug spray. We would of gladly hosed things off our self also if there would have been a hose we could have used. Again maybe this was only due to the time of year we were there, and or how long it had been since someone had been there. I only say that since the fridge was warm inside initially and took about a full day and a half to finally cool our items we put inside. Again the place was great and everything our group of 10 needed. Just wanted to mention the few things our group as a whole collectively agreed could have been improved. Not real issues, just things I think others would appreciate being aware of.

Me and my husband together working hard to take care of our 3 wonderful children. We both came from Poland almost 20 year ago and continue our journey in United States.

First time we've visited Indiana Beach resort, we immediately follow in love with this place. Short after decided to look for a Lake House. This particular one was very first we saw and didn't have to wait long to make a decision. It is very simple- you feel good the moment you get in. First step on that patio and you don't want to leave.
