Fishermans Cottage On Crooked Lake

Located on Crooked Lake, 30 feet from the front door to the water. You can fish from shore or use our rowboat to find the prime fishing spot. Eat dinner at the picnic table while the sun sets. Great time to fish early morning and around 6 pm the lake is like glass. Cottage has the basics, and close to town. Bring your DVD's because there's no cable or just disconnect from technology and reconnect with your family and friends.

Crooked Lake is a full sports lake, it is 735 square acres, max depth is 48 feet. There are a variety of fish Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Yellow perch, Muskie, and Black Crappie.

Very peaceful

It was very nice stay the lake is beautiful, and good for fishing, it’s tough to find the place but once u do it is very nice. Smaller that I expected but I have no complaints.

Nice Cottage But Lake Access Difficult

We liked the cottage and found it exactly as described but were disappointed with the access to the lake. There was no mention in the description of the property that flooding had occurred and part of the yard by the lake was covered with around 6 inches of mud and standing water. Janet let us know of the flooding and sent a picture 2 days before our arrival. She also gave us a chance to cancel with a full refund but it was a little late to change plans so we took a chance that we could get the boat into the lake over the sandbags and enjoy a little fishing from the shore. After arrival we decided trying to get the boat into the lake without falling into the mud or lake wasn't worth the risk. There was some mention of flooding in earlier reviews. To be fair, we had the chance to back out last minute at no cost to us and decided to take a chance, but if the property description had been accurate we wouldn't have booked here to start with. We enjoyed the area, the neighbors were friendly and Janet was helpful with extra directions and early check in.

Dated but comfy.

Overall we had a nice experience at Fisherman's cottage with our family. The first few days were hard as I got sand fleas outside while sitting around the fire pit...bring your bug spray! Janet was very responsive and someone came the next day to spray and mow the yard which really helped. The lake is wonderful and neighbors were very friendly. We did experience some small ants inside if food was left out on countertops, but figured this out too and it really wasn’t a problem. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials and the bedrooms comfy. We also loved watching dvd’s on the tv. All in all, a good time was had by all.

2nd time staying here & was perfectly relaxing

Nice relaxing extended weekend. Was able to rent a pantoon boat this time, good way to break up the day and cruise around the lake.

Fit our needs perfectly

Our family stayed at Janet’s cottage while in the area for a college visit. Janet was fantastic to work with. Her instructions were great and things were exactly as expected. Upon booking, Janet let us know that there we’re some sandbags in the yard on the lake side because the water level was so high. That wasn’t a huge deal to us since we were going to be pretty busy during the day and then just relaxing at the cottage in the evening. Loved the cool breeze off the lake in the evening! Thanks so much!

Everything was great, I wish the boat was in the water. my wife and I were unable to carry it.

We reserved a boat for Thursday, but it was only 59 degrees so we didn't use it. Unfortunately we had our stay interrupted for medical reasons on Wed for some tests that I could not avoid. Overall it was great I wish I could have gone fishing but that didn't work out.

Outdated but great experience

The cottage itself is outdated but worked out just fine for us. The boys took the row boat out fishing a few times, fished from our kayak. The only downside of the property is the lack of a dock or stairs to get in and out of the water. Janet was always quick to respond to any questions we had.

Quiet Place

This cottage is very, very dated, but clean. Crooked Lake is clear and clean. Quiet place. No TV, internet, or cable, so bring DVD's if you have to watch something. No pier so it made it difficult to get into the water; had to fish off of the breaker wall. By the breaker wall, water was about 3' deep, so you can swim in this lake. Sunsets were beautiful. If you want a very low key place to go, this is it. Just know it is very dated. Owner/manager was very attentive. Reminded me of my childhood vacations to a lake house.

Great Lake for swimming and fishing!

We enjoyed our week. The cottage was clean and very well stocked with everything we could possibly need and then some. We did rent a pontoon as Janet suggested, and we were able to enjoy the great lake with it. Janet was great with any and all communications. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us Janet.

Breathtaking

I would recommend anyone who wants a break from the city to definitely take a vacation here. The view of the lake was breathtaking and the cottage reminded me of when I was young. Excellent stay.

The Fisherman's Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at The Fisherman's Cottage. The cottage was bigger than expected and was very comfortable for our stay. The lake is lovely and we enjoyed many relaxing moments in the yard watching the swans and the ever changing waters. We will definitely be back in the future. Beautiful Lake

I came up to this cottage for a getaway by a lake with some family and friends. The lake was beautiful and the view from the backyard was spectacular! The owner Janet was very cordial and responsive. We will definitely be back!

A great extended fishing weekend!

I was looking for a place for the four of us to have a quiet fishing weekend, and could not have been more pleased with this Fisherman's Cottage! The view was beautiful, and the access to the lake was perfect! This kitchen was well-appointed (though I might suggest you bring your favorite sharp knife and large frying pan if you think you'll need them), and the whole place was comfortable and clean. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in, and everyone we met on the lake was very friendly and welcoming. Janet (the owner) was very communicative and helpful, and answered all our questions. This is an annual trip for us, and when couldn't access our usual spot this year, it was a bit of a scramble to find another place that would suit us. This may just be our new permanent spot! Thanks Janet, we'll be checking with you next year!

Great experience!

We had a group of girls that stayed at the fisherman's cottage for a short women's weekend. The cottage and property were both much bigger than the pictures made them look! Everything was clean and there were plenty of seating, beds, dishes, bedding and towels. There was much more privacy than i thought we would have. We really enjoyed our stay and Janet was always willing to answer my questions and readily available via phone/email for us! We had a great experience!
