We have one Bell Tent and a nestled at the edge of a peninsula which overlooks the Great Dividing Range. Yirri is our 5 metre tent. Wake to the extraordinary spectacle of clouds in the valleys of the seemingly endless blue eucalypt hills. Both accommodations are spacious and are beautifully finished in the raw earthy aesthetic of the surrounding landscape and offer peace and isolation. Generously separated from one another these sites offer a real sense of seclusion.
There is a comfortable enclosed camp kitchen which we have developed for tourists to share whilst retreating from bad weather. There is a living area with a fireplace and a dining area. These seperate areas allow for different groups of tourists to enjoy the camp kitchen at the same time. The camp kitchen offers another possibility for group gatherings with it’s generous deck, bar and outdoor sitting area. There is a BBQ on the deck for cooking if the camp fires become too wet
There are two showers. Both are glass fronted and are perched on the very edge of the hill so you get the feeling that there is very little between you and the mountains! It is truly a spectacular experience. There is a solar heater on top of the showers which allows for hot showers.
There is a toilet block at the back of Tanjenong camp. The two toilets are composting toilets. We have tried at all times, in our creation at Tanjenong Camp, to be environmentally sensitive. We have tried to use local materials as much as possible. All our energy is renewable, all water at the Camp site is rainwater or spring water. We are entirely off the grid.
You will be able to connect with one of the favourite Tanjenong walks, the Abercrombie River walk. This walk takes you through a diverse and pristine Eucalypt landscape to the Abercrombie river. The river walk offers a possibility of spotting a diverse range of wild animals, kangaroos, platypus, echidna, trout, wombat, goannas, goats and deer . The walk itself is roughly an hour and half to two hours long. It is steep in parts so it is important to wear good walking shoes!
